The stuttered penalty is a stupid idea anyway. Only way to get enough power on the ball from a 1 step run up is trying to whip it in the near post. Keeper sees you stop halfway and they know where you're going.
The penalty wasn't only shit, it was bizarre, he normally takes a very good penalty. Every one I can remember him taking went in the top corner with bags of confidence, this time with that stupid stuttered run up he looked like he'd got in his own head and never thought himself that he was going to score.
Funny how opinions differ, I thought he was pretty disappointing tonight. Made some fantastic passes (a chipped pass to Hernandez was incredible) but I felt the good was bogged down too often by him choosing a stupid option. The penalty miss obviously being a huge black mark, given the context within the game.
Valencia was slightly more frustrating as despite looking more assured on the ball & getting himself into some great positions, his final ball was awful throughout.
Shambles, absolute shambles. He wasn't his usual erratic self, that was diabolical - bar a couple of good passes.
And to think that a good number of people wanted him to replace Valencia on the right. Has to sort this out, he can be truly wonderful on his day.

He was inconsistent as hell, and I'm being kind.
Indeed. Erratic is the perfect description. He kept making a mess of things, but should have had five assists. That'll do!Wow think that's an incredibly harsh assessment, better finishing and he could have had 5 assists or something.
Only saw it from the stand so won't have the full picture but thought he did alright. Yeah, he gave it away a few times and made the wrong decision a few times but he's not played an awful lot yet but he had some great link up play with Evra and those around him and set up some good chances. Fergie will probably drop him for 2/3 games cos of the penalty though.

He was, after Kagawa, our best attacking player. Some wonderful passes, great link up play, good work defensively, always run after the ball if he's lost it. If not for the penalty miss, his rating would be pretty good. but you actually have to watch games without an agenda if you wanna rate the players fairlyI'm tired of excusing players for occasional flashes of good play and I mentioned he had some.. I know what I see. I can't stand the feeling of forthcoming frustration when he gets the ball and isn't on his A game.
Gala were diabolical defensively from the left and in the channels, he had to make something out of it. For me, a world-class winger has to play at least well for 90 minutes + do something extra.
Put it this way, if he could somehow swap brains with Valencia or any half-inteliigent winger, he would be the best at his position, by some margin as well.
Nani created goalscoring chances, it was Valencia who was frustrating tonight.. regularly beat his markers with some breathtaking play (especially in the first half), then regularly put in nothing crosses.
Total extremes again on here. Some saying he was amazing, others saying he was terrible. The truth lies somewhere in between. However if you asked Nani himself how he thought he played i'd say he'd be quite disappointed. He can definately play much better than that, but even though he wasn't great he has still made telling contributions.
You're being an utter twat! Inconsistent in what way? He opened up the play on numerous occasions. He played better today and created more chances than Di Maria, who was praised yesterday, did for RM yesterday!
I wonder what you expect from certain players or if you are just one of those haters, because it's not about criticising, it's about bashing.
What were folk saying at the game about him?

One bellend behind me was "gutted" that he rejected Zenit in the summerthere wasn't much said near me, though he usually gets more groans than others like Carrick used to. Praise for when he did alright but some people just don't understand flair players.
Giggs can be wasteful at times, like pull off one good pass out of 20 all day. Yet it gets excused because "he meant well". Or some other stupid shit.
