Fit - strange timing. Injured - he's not injured, Fergie lies. Some of you would enjoy RAWK.

Good to see him getting ready to come back. Valencia needs a break and if he still cannot find form after a run of games on the wing, let's try the same with Nani, maybe it'll work out.

That's the kind of news I like to hear. We do need something different on the wings. I'm just dreaming about all the attacking combinations we can put out when players are fit and available.

Sir Alex Ferguson: "Nani should be back within a week or so."

That's either brilliant news or just in time for the transfer window.

Almost two months for a hamstring injury, who is he Michael Owen?

With Sir Alex's programme notes on the january window, he has to be staying. Hopefully whatever the problem is, they can resolve it over the course of the season and he will stay.

Valencia needs to be dropped, like any other player who plays rubbish match after match. Nani hasn't been at his best for a while, but he still contributes more than Val.

No, when he's not at his best he's as frustrating as Valencia, "he's the only one who's capable of creating that moment of magic" has become boring.

NOBODY could be as frustrating as Valencia has been recently. I'm presently nursing a sore throat contracted from shouting at the tv "Cross it in now! Cross it in now!".

I honestly don't think Nani is frustrating when given a run of games, it's when he plays scattered games here and there that he becomes less of team player and more of an individual.

If we had Nani in top form, combining with our current attack. We'd have a fecking big shout of winning not just the league.

great news he'll be back with the current form of Valenica it will be a big boost

We need Nani- we lack his creativity when he's missing- he is so frustrating at times though and lacks consistency

I'd still go with an out of form Nani over what we have in Valencia currently, easily, although I'm hoping maybe this is as bad as he's going to get as there has been some small encouraging signs from him in the past few games.

Despite press speculation, SAF says #mufc need Nani as: "He offers something different from the other players we have."

SAF says Nani's on a break in Dubai to aid his recovery. He said:"He's got a future here. Why would I want to let him go?

Brilliant news, I'd be delighted if we could get him to sign a contract.

Obviously no one wanted to buy him then..

Yeah, however bad Nani is there's always the chance he might spank it in from 30 yards out of nothing.

SAF just echoing my own thoughts there. But... there is one reason why, his contract. feck I wish they'd just come to an agreement. Would love to see Nani give the chances Valencia has had this season.

That's promising stuff alright. Hopefully he's close to signing that contract!

Sounds like encouraging news.

Now all we need is for Nani to sign the damn new contract.

Amazing it took this long before someone asked Fergie about Nani's future.

We need more of the RAWK enthusiasm where an injured player gradually goes through periods when he's an important member of a team, then becomes one of the best players in his position in the league, after which he turns into definitely the best player in the world in his position before inevitably turning into the last piece of the jigsaw. We don't do that stuff and we really ought to.

Vidic is 31, isn't he?

Aye he is but given he's our best defender, makes a world of difference when he plays and is often linked with moves away from the club it's a little worrying that the club are only willing to give him 1 year extensions. Unless of course his current deal takes him through to another 2 years or so after this season (so when he's 34)

EDIT: He signed his last contract in 2010 taking him up to the end of the next season same as Nani

If Vidic was going to move away, he would have done it long before now. He can go on until at least 35 IMO, but I don't think that Real Madrid or any other team of our calibre would make a move for him now.

If he was to leave, he'd need to take a big step down from us IMO. I don't know why he'd do that now, so I think we're safe with him.

It's standard for players over 30 to be offered 1 year deals and tbh with him having had a major injury I'm sure there are some concerns that he might become injury prone. He might get offered a 2 year deal when the time comes if he's looking fine but no need to give him more then that.

On Nani, then if the quotes are true it's pretty encouraging, can only hope. Still loving the prospect of him, kagawa, rooney and rvp as a front 2 supported by clev and carrick.

The quotes are in the papers now:

“Nani’s contract isn’t up until the end of next season – and we need him.

“He offers something different from the other players we have. He’s got an incredible talent, but, *unfortunately, he’s been injured.

“We have sent Nani over to Dubai for a break in the hope that it will help him with his recovery.

I don’t think we will have him back until the middle of January. He’s never had a hamstring injury before and this is a bad one.

“But Nani has got a future here. Why would I want to let him go?”

Promising news if true. His form this season, in the occasional games he's snatched between being injured and getting dropped for Young, has been poor, but he's still one of the really top class players in our team. The type whose name you want to see on the team-sheet when you play a side like Real Madrid.
