Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

Do spurs want a repeat of their start last year? If I was Harry I would want Modric out ASAP (if he is desperate to leave) and rebuild while he has time on his hands.

I doubt it matters a whole lot what Harry wants (considering Modric's capability and position in the squad is already established), its Levy who will have more of a say in this case.

I'd prefer a repeat of last season if possible where keeping our best player was a huge factor in us finishing in the CL places.

The Sun seems very confident that a deal as been done. Then again it is the Sun.

It's Neil Custis, and I've read so much transfer window bullshit from him down the years.

I think every time the Sun makes up a sensational transfer story, and needs a journalist to put his name to it to give it 'credibility', Custis volunteers.

Hopefully this is the exception that proves the rule. If the rest of the media is going with it.. Who knows?

We need to get on with this, I want to know if I need to edit the lineup in fifa before starting a new career mode.

Would not suprise me if we made a cash + players (Ando and/or Park) offer for Modric.

I'd say you're spot on my friend, but maybe not in a swop-thing. We all know we're gonna off-load some players - it aways happens after a while, and i think now is that time.

8pts clear at the end of the season - you cant lose?! We did & Fergie wont like some of the players attitudes in thinkin its in the bag!

Hows about Berba? Does Levy want his Berba back?

Berba would be great for them and they need a striker desperately because they can't afford Adebayor's wages.

Could definitely see him going as part of the deal, would be a good move for Berba too so think he'd be up for it.

All this sudden Ando hate breaks my heart

I don't think anyone 'hates' him. Its the fact that he's been given 5 seasons to prove his potential and instead he's failed to prove that he's not injury prone or inconsistent when fit. Unfortunately for him, at a club like ours we don't give in to sentimentality. Though I suppose thats for another thread, but for what its worth I don't think Spurs is a good club for him.

Berbatov on the other hand I still think could still do a job at Spurs. £15-20million + Berba perhaps?

Spurs aren't going to take berba back, neither would berba want to go there.

Well, sort of.

Well, you know what I mean. :(

Berbatov has burned his bridges at Spurs now. I'm sure Redknapp would love him (then again, I'm sure Redknapp would have signed Campbell if given half a chance) but after what he did, the fans don't want him back and I'm pretty sure levy wouldn't either.

If this deal were to go ahead, Levy would want just money. Or money with useful players, not your cast-offs. Hopefully we've all learned from Frazier Campbell.

It's an entertaining mix of bestiality, underage sex, and fetishism.

Well done sir.

You go away for 3 days and when you come back we're buying Modric?!

I'm going to have to hang out in the land of no internet more often.

How many posts does Glaston have reminding us of Levy's massive dick waving prowess that makes grown men shed tears like frightened children?

Oh, the fees that man will get from us, it's hard to be so jealous of Spurs.

" Spurs won't sell Modric for anything less than 35m,quote me on that."

We'll See.. They'll never get it.

I doubt most thought we would get 70 million for Carrick, Keane and Berbatov either. In many ways, we still hold all the cards here, I don't see us being bullied into selling him for a sum we find unacceptable.

I wish you had purchased Zokora and Pav/Frazier Campbell/Crouch/Defoe instead of Carrick and Berbatov. I can only dream of where we'd be if we still had those two.

That would have been a somewhat difficult task for us :)

I hope you bastards learnt your lesson and promote from within now. I'm a huge advocate of promoting Cleverly rather than attempting to purchase Modric.

And I'm sure it's genuine concern for the future of Team England that drives you in this case

You sold them at the right time. No ones going to go Chelsea on you this year. Should have sold then. Now you have no champions League football again and just a player a year on following a good but not amazing season. Only Bale will generate stupid money.

How do you know this?

They need a striker, he is still excellent and would be cheap. He wants first team football..

Where do you think he will go?

How did we sell at the right time? Berbatov was off the back of his second relatively average scoring season in England. Carrick after one good season. And since then, the transfer market has gone absolutely crazy. No CL football at all when selling any of these players.

We took a huge risk on a player still playing in a crap league, paying 16.5 million for him. Since then, he's proven himself one of the best midfielders in the league. He has 4 years left on his contract as well.

What does going Chelsea mean? Tapping up the player and then offering derisory sums like 23 million? If possible, I'd rather no-one did that this summer too. Very rarely does Levy sell any player unless he gets a more than decent sum. I really don't see Modric being an exception. If no-one offers what Levy would be willing to consider (if he has such a number), whether than is 20 million, 30, 40, 5 0, whatever, Modric probably won't be moving.

I'd be willing to sell for significantly less abroad though.

Probably back to Germany.

He doesn't have a great relationship with the fans or Levy. Unsurprisingly.

Yeah but the fans would welcome him back surely? He wasn't disrespectful was he.

You are probably right that he won't end up there, but I think it is a possibility and makes sense. Levy won't want to splash out £25million on a striker and Berba has a few years left at the top level, he's a great footballer.

Berbatov was agitating to move as early as the first January he was here, his agent was constantly in the press mouthing off about us and the potential move and the thing that tips it for the majority of us is his refusal to play/his going on strike for a few matches in his attempt to force a move.

I had few problems with the desire to move to be honest, it was understandable. The way he and his agent went about it though was terrible and snake like. Most fans don't want him anywhere near the club.

We should have done a better job replacing them of course but Keane and Berbatov really left us in the lurch that season as well.

All this is sad because I loved watching Berbatov as a player and I still think he's an exceptional talent. He'd fit in so well with this team. But the bridges have been burned there.

Last summer the Sun declared we got Sanchez, then declared we got Sneijder, and somewhere in between claimed Fergie was closing a deal with Redknapp for Modric for something like 20m pounds.

They haven't a clue.

Their nickname is tribalbollox for a reason:

'The Sun says all parties are in agreement: Modric is on his way to Old Trafford.' Yeah, because the sun are the most reputable of sources.

Now we need the Sun to publish a new article confirming their previous one, sourcing Tribal Bollox, and the circle will be complete.

Berbatov was still arguably the best striker in the league. Carrick had a really good season off the back of a solid previous. If this wasn't a good time to sell what was. No Champions League football wasn't stated as a reason for Spurs to sell.. why would it? I'm stating Modric isn't going to want to stay.

The more Spurs fail the achieve the more they are likely to keep a player who doesn't want to be there.. This in turn decrease the players value to buying club.

He's a very good player but don't be fooled, clubs will simply go elsewhere and by going Chelsea I meant sticking around to negotiate tit 4 tat with silly Levy fees.
