He's a fantastic player without a doubt, would be a great addition to our team.
He was superb. Dominated us more than Fabregas ever does. He was everything we lack in midfield and I think he's twice the player VDV is.
hmm, still dont get the hype, hes a good player but hes no where near the Fabregas's, Iniesta etc, nor see him reaching there in the future.
You won't find many passing through the likes of Rio and Vidic when they're on that kind of form, best centre half pairing in world football.
You dont have to. He could pass between Rafael and Ferdinand or any other combination of players around the edge of the box. While his dribbling caused lots of problems, he didnt show the vision on the day to open us up.
Erm, who could we possibly get that is?
This guy will never be average. No way Modric is average. He pisses all over Van Der Vaart for one.Don't know what's the fuss over him. He's pretty average for the hype and the fact he plays for Spurs
Maybe if being a scout was my day job i could tell you, but the gap between Modric and the best midfielders is vast, IMO. And if we were to get Modric it going to cost in excess of 30m and im sure there are similar cheaper options.
Such as?
You haven't named a single player we could get instead of him for cheaper than him.
What do you want, for me to give a list of players with theoretical prices for you to cast your eye over?
As someone pointed out Modric is of the Aertea's of this world, probably slightly better but not by much.
He's a great player - a little dynamo in the midfield buzzing around with boundless energy. Great footballing brain too - in 3 or 4 years he could be one of the best in the world. Another Spurs player I'd like to see at United.
Blessed with quick feet, fabulous vision, low centre of gravity and flawless technique… one can only imagine what an addition he’d be to the United midfield. Even the question marks that were once asked of him physically have been answered over the past few seasons and a great illustration of this point was found today when he shrugged Fletcher aside having turned on a sixpence and eat up ground before deceptively playing in a wideplayer in space. He is a creative dynamo and such a presence is sorely lacking in United’s midfield when Anderson is off form or Scholes is injured.
Arteta
He's better than anyone we have centrally so cant be that bad.
To be fair I'm not often a transfer muppet, but... I'd break the bank for Modric.
.
Thing is, we'd REALLY have to break the bank on him. He cost spurs £18.75m and he has 3 1/2 years on his contract. £40m wouldn't be too far off the mark
Technically he's probably at a similar level to Arteta (who was a very good little player before the injuries which have curtailed him the last couple of seasons). But he's a far superior athlete and a much harder worker, which makes him a far more effective player who can hurt opposition teams in many different ways.Yup, not much better then Arteta when Everton were flying high in the top 4 a few years back.

You're very harsh. He doesn't need to be their equal to still be a terrific player
I am not saying hes shit, am i? I just dont think hes up there with the best which his transfer value would suggest if he were to be sold.

I never said he is bad, i just think people over hype him, and given that he'll be costing more then Berbatov you would expect him to be better then Anderson and a 36 year old Paul Scholes(although on his day hes still better).
