Manchester City vs. Manchester United

de Gea

Rafael
Smalling
Ferdinand
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Jones
Anderson
Nani

Rooney

SUBS: Lindegaard, Fabio, Park, Giggs, Berbatov, Welbeck, Hernandez.

that would be my second guess. We need to pack the midfield. the only thing is, we could do with some experience, if Giggsy was in a better form. Rio is the only experienced player and that might be a problem in a derby like that

Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, De Jong, Milner, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko.

Lindegaard, Rafael, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov.

That's what I think the teams will be.

The chances are slim for Berba to start in a 4-4-2. We need to pack the midfield. He's on form, so maybe theres a good chance for him to start, but only as a lone striker

From the injury thread, I see Cleverly is available??

A midfield of Cleverly, Carrick and Anderson would be hard to beat...if all fit.
I think it just hasn't been updated yet. Ferguson said last Friday that he was nowhere near returning to action.

I don't think that's accurate.

Shut up Mancini!!!!

Cup still important for Hart

Joe Hart does not doubt Manchester City's FA Cup win last season helped propel the club to a new level.

The trophy was the first major success since the League Cup in 1976 and on Sunday they begin the defence against Manchester United.

City boss Roberto Mancini has made no secret of the fact the Premier League is the priority and they remain on course, as they sit top of the table ahead of their derby rivals.

But City also want to win every competition in which they compete and Hart is well aware of the importance of the FA Cup.

He said in the Daily Star: "That final win was huge for the club, huge for the fans and the players and helped us bring in some excellent players this year.

"It helped that we won that trophy, and that is what we are trying to do. Whatever trophy we are in, we are hunting for it.

"There was a lot made about it, with all the local taunts about 35 years since we had last won anything. But those taunts all suddenly disappeared."

Hart added: "We started afresh after that cup win. We are a good team and have earned a lot of respect this season, and we deserve it.

"Every game feels big now, because we are chasing things and I really feel we can do something this year.

"We have a big enough and good enough squad to go for everything and, right now, the FA Cup will be firmly in focus with that game against our neighbours on Sunday.

"It's not just another game, it's a massive one for the city of Manchester and English football. We are the top two at the moment and it's a privilege to play in these kind of games."
..

Well I was actually quite confident about this game until the presser.

It's gunna be Ferdinad - Jones. How many goals has that partnership shipped?

I wanted to start this thread... Charlene, I don't know whether you're a bird or not...but I do know that I'm not happy at all.

De Gea

Valencia - Rio - Jones - Evra

Nani - Carrick - Anderson - Park

Rooney - Hernandez

Hernandez have been looking quite poor concidering his talent this season, but this is a game that will suit him better then most of our other league-games, as City will no doubt look to attack us and leave some space for him to run in, which means that his link-up play would not be as vital as when we play teams that park the bus. Rooney doesnt deserve a spot in the XI after his pathetic display vs Newcastle, but hopefully he'll try to make up for that horrible game. Giggs will not be able to play two games in so few days, and it seems to me that Fergie prefers the attacks we get going down the right hand side with Valencia and Nani, rather then looking for the defensive option (Rafael, who might not be matchfit to play the entire 90 anyways)

Pity you didn't, after your success the last time...;)

I think the probability of a successful thread is pretty high, when was the last time we lost three in a row?

Shut up, me.

Yaya and Kolo, please take David Silva with you guys as well. He would love to see Africa too!

Anyone know our record with Carrick at cb? I'm wondering if we might be better off pairing him with Rio rather than Jones. It doesn't sound very reasonable, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Leeds 3-0 (with Fryers)
Wigan 5-0 (with Evans/Evra)
Blackburn 2-3 (with Jones)

Thanks! Certainly more encouraging than our record with Jones at cb. And then we can have Jones in midfield where his energy would be helpful with the large amount of chasing we'll have to do.
