Manchester United v Sunderland

Nani's likely to be out due to the after effects of the virus several of the players had.

United's team is very strong on paper. Giggs and Park are still very much first team players so Nani's absence does not weaken the side hugely, especially with the amount of talent centrally and with Fergie selecting the two genuine attacking full backs.

stevebartram1 Fletcher sent home ill, Nani injured. Unsure of the specifics of the injury.

Big game for Anderson, really looking to him to come up with a performance.

Should be alright, here. They're shafted without Welbeck, though we've always got to be a bit careful with Bent and Gyan.

feck Nani injured is a major blow is there any news on whats wrong with him?? with Park going away after this match and Valencia still a good month away at least we look pretty fecked on the wings after today, Can Giggs play twice in 2 days? im not sure, we could have no senior wingers at all on Tuesday.

Anyway todays team is as strong as it could be considering.

I'm pretty confident of Nani coming back for Tuesday actually. I'm sure Fergie knows Giggs can't handle 2 games in 3 days so Nani should be back. Hope he's not rushed back if he's injured..

Can only put 7 players on the bench. Don't think we should assume every other member of our squad is injured.

Yes, but judging by his frequent substitutions though assuming Fabio is injured is a given most of the time.

Still no real leftback cover (O'Shea, Fabio even Evans or DeLaet), probably have to slot Rafael over there and put Gaz on if Evra goes off or is sent off.

Meh, Neville 35, Kuszczak 28, Gibson 23, Hernandez 22, Smalling 21, Bébé 20, Macheda 19

Average age 24 ... about Nani's age.

Whats the chances of Kuszczak or Neville coming on though? Its a very inexperienced bench when you exclude those two.

I know what you're saying, might be tough for Giggsy just coming back from injury to play twice in two days. If Nani isn't featuring against Brum, then it might be best to play Rooney on the left, and put Obertan on the right. I wouldn't feel entirely comfortable with Obertan and Bebe on both wings in a tough away match.

Well it depends on what the injury is, im getting a little worried no one has given any indication of what it is yet? but if hes not fit for today is there much chance he will be in 48 hours? it would have to be a very minor injury and if so minor given the lack of wide cover on the bench i reckon he'd be on there.

Its never straightforward with United is it, we dont play a game for all of 2 weeks and manage to lose a key player anyway!

If Nani's injury is serious we're in trouble.

It's a good team but I wouldn't be too confident in any subs that are made. I'd hope this would be wrapped up before we need to do so.

I'd say Kuszczak around 18-1 chance, Neville around 3-1.

Neville could come on for either fullback remember, and if necessary as a second centre-back if Smalling is already used and they need another one ... that has happened.

Remember the West Ham injury crisis that resulted in the Fletcher-Carrick-Evra-Giggs defence.

Agree very much so about Bebe and Obertan, i wouldn't fancy those two starting away at Birmingham either, very tough place to go, if we can get Fletcher back we might go 4-3-3 with Rooney left and Hernandez right of Berbatov.

Given his age and the injury, I'd say it's more than just tough, it just won't happen at all. Which means either Obertan or Bebe. Doesn't leave me with a lot of confidence.

Ostensibly if he was able to play but still slightly bothered SAF may have rested him because we've still got Park at this point

That's why I think it would be best to put Rooney on the left and play Obertan on the right, unless Nani makes a recovery from an injury we know absolutely feck all about yet.

I just wouldn't feel comfortable with two inexperienced lads on the wings in such a tough away match, especially Bebe. I think he has some potential and he's very raw, but he's nowhere near ready to start such a league match away from home.

Could always use the da Silvas in front of Evra and Neville I suppose.

Im guessing if no Nani, Giggs plays all 90mins today Fergie goes with Rooney on the wing with Berba and Owen/Hernandez up top.

Rooney on the left, Park right. Giggs, Fletcher (is he fit? If not Park middle and Obertan right), Carrick, Ando.

And as BerlinKnives suggested, pushing Rafael up to the right wing might be a good option too.

Still, such a rampant amount of injuries again, which is so frustrating considering the lack of games recently, and the sheer amount we'll have now after the New Year.

Park goes after today, he's away to the Asia Cup. That's another reason we'd be fecked for the wings.

Ooooh I never like the suggestion of playing a full back on the wing, it's just wrong. Thankfully there are still plenty of options before it comes down to that.

Can't use Park as he'll be in Qatar by the next game though.
