Manchester United vs. Aston Villa

It just seems bizarre to yet again play Giggs in midfield even though we have better options. Hopefully he's out on the left though.

I'm not the biggest fan of Giggs starting in CM to be honest BUT Kagawa can tuck in to make it more of a 4-3-3 or Rooney can drop deep if we're struggling. He might play a blinder so there's no point in hanging him before we've even kicked off!

Hopefully giggs can put in a performance today, he was in form about a month ago or so but gone off the boil for me a bit, suppose of clev is burnt out then its not a huge surprise. Hope he keeps disciplined though because if we leave spaces in the middle that'll be good for villa, young team with plenty of energy.

Giggs in midfield, jones and Evans in defence... Not very inspiring that. Should be plenty to comfortably beat villa but I don't understand what Cleverley has done to be out of the team so much.

He's having a bad run of form. It's that simple.

Last time he played a competitive game he played poorly. Obviously hasn't looked any better on the training pitch since. Which can happen.

I know. Gobshites. He's put in some brilliant performances this season too. People should be excited about the chance to watch a living legend win #20. Could be something you tell your grandkids about. I wonder if they'll mention that they moaned about his selection on the internet first?

Good post, some on here might never get to see a player like Giggs again.

Giggs is going to go out there like a man possessed to win himself another title. Anyone who thinks otherwise -- and is already writing off his contribution tonight -- deserves a resounding slap.

Everytime I say something like "FFS Giggs in midfield?!" he plays a total blinder and leaves me looking like a right tit.

So. FFS, Giggs in midfield?!

Does that mean you've not said that in the past 2 seasons?

Cause he's certainly not a had a 'blinder' in the centre in recent memory.

In fact, almost every time we've dropped points in the last year we've had him playing in centre midfield.

Instead of posting a sad little smiley, how about responding with what's so bad about that post?

I'm consistently in match day threads going off on people for overreacting and talking shit as per usual, but that post is neither of those. Anybody that has watched us over this entire season knows that when we use Giggs in the CENTER, it effects our performance. That's not me shitting on Giggs, it's me wondering why the feck SAF isn't playing him out on the left instead.

Only a few weeks ago we were all saying he should be one of the first names on the team sheet because he was having a good run. One wayward back heel and he's shit again!

There's no point having someone already blamed before anythings even gone wrong! Pre-emptive blaming! Jesus.

Its OFF...

...
we should be fine

dammit.

My American girlfriend is sitting down to watch her first full game today without me there to explain the intricacies to her. I told her before I left it was ON. I forgot to put the 'Giggs in midfield' caveat in there.

How do we know it's Giggs in the centre with Kagawa on the left, anyway? Don't the teamsheets just consist of a list of names, not going on to say who is playing where? I might be wrong there, but if I'm not then there's nothing to suggest that it's not the other way around.

The maturity level in here is mind boggling, its igf it is like Rawk and Suarez had gone and bitten someone. How many League titles does giggs have ?
Pathetic some of you 8 yeasr olds

according to skysports line-up its jones and carrick in the middle

edit: nvm, it was last game :8

Spend 7 minutes of your time watching this. I had tears in my eyes. The greatest Manchester United video I've seen. If this doesn't get you into the spirit, nothing will.

I don't think anyone has a problem with Giggs playing, he's been better on the left wing this season than Young and Nani. But not in central midfield, it hasn't worked for 3 years. Tonight is fine because it's Villa but still why can't we just put a central midfielder in there.

I don't think anyone here would have a problem if Giggs started on the wings because he's actually been our best winger since the Swansea game. However playing him in CM really isn't a very sensibly option considering how poor he is there.

I hope that Giggs has a blinder and shuts up some of the spoilt cretinous cnuts on here

De Gea

Rafael - Jones - Evans - Evra

Carrick - Giggs

Valencia - Rooney - Kagawa

van Persie

Happy with that to be honest. Maybe if Nani was in there in place of Tony would I be totally satisfied, but that's still a strong side. Giggs is an old head for the big occasion and I think tonight suits him better than starting him against City, for example.

Kagawa's inclusion is vital to provide the link between midfield and attack, otherwise we'd see far too many attempted long through-balls from midfield. That front four should be good enough to score 3 or more tonight. Let's hope Evans and co. are on their game against Benteke down the other end...

Fecking Parrot.

just watched the Giggs goal against Arsenal again, 1999, FA Cup semi final replay.....to get even more in the mood. Will never forget that moment...the guy is a bloody United legend. And that was just one example of what he has does for us... Can't believe people sometimes.....

Was hoping we'd start Kagawa in the middle tonight

4-0 tonight.

Just getting ridiculous with Giggs. It's fecking mental that Fergie keeps on insisting on playing him in the center of the midfield. He had a really good run when we played him out wide not long ago, nine times out of ten when we play him in the middle we suffer from it. There's no argument what so ever for it, even though a couple of people here will try to make one and even post a couple of gifs of him making a few good passes.

The treatment of Cleverley is mental. Just don't understand what's going on there. People will use the excuse of being burnt out, but when you're a top level footballer with the fitness that they have nowadays, there's no reason what so ever that Cleverley shouldn't be starting these games as of late.

As requested I have refrained from further use of sad little smileys. Instead just focusing on the sheer hysteria in your post.

Firstly, we don't even know if he is playing central midfield today. He might be playing on the left with Rooney in midfield. So you are getting ahead of yourself. Secondly, I seem to remember just a month ago Giggs putting in a man of the match performance against Real Madrid from central midfield. He has played excellently in midfield so many times I've lost count. He's one of the greatest players in our history who is still performing to an extremely high level. Yet people are so ready to jump on his back if he doesn't put in a great performance. It's gotten silly IMO.

Finally, your pontifications on the treatment of Cleverley. I'm just going to trust SAF's judgment. End of argument really. You are making a bold critical statement without the benefit of all the facts. And look at who (and how) you are questioning.

Winner of the Bullshit post of the week award.

We'll probably put Kagawa in defense and have Jones in front of RvP or something.

Is it spoilt to be concerned that previous mistakes surrounding Giggs' use in central midfield are being repeated? It's unnecessary and against a team fighting for their Premiership survival at that.

4-0 tonight.

Love MNF, He's absolute quality, nailed it on how ineffective playing narrow can be.
