Manchester United vs. FC Basel

Hello ladies.

Great fun, that was.

Apart from the last 10 minutes when they were seen higher up the pitch, didn't Anderson and Carrick seem to be sitting too deep? Wonder if that was a deliberate tactic.

val to RB, fabio LB , evra rested
Berba on, welbz right wing

Wow. So many goals today. Wish we got a proper highlights show after the games here :(

So what's our bench like?

Any young ones we can bring on if we're still 2 up at 70 mins?

Welbeck's been fantastic, very impressive.

And he's been lifting weights, built like a greek god now.

Welbeck probably has the second all round best game of our strikers after Rooney in my opinion, Hernandez is probably more lethal but I'm even unsure about that. M12 represent.

Good movement and goals by welbeck
two assists by giggs - master is still going strong
defence needs hairdryer treatment - have been rather shocking at times, although coverup from middle has been nonexistent
we need val and young more into this - when they start moving with ball they are magic and create havoc in basel defence

I think the wingers are in the game more than enough. I'd rather see our midfielders push higher up when we have the ball, which they started to do towards the end. For the first 35 minutes it was as if we had two 'defensive midfielders' sitting and holding. Anderson in particular needs to push on when we have the ball. Not saying they didn't play well, mind you.

We are looking threatening everytime we go on the attack but need to tighten up at the back, as we cant keep getting away with this sort of defensive display before a team punishes us for it. As i said earlier Carrick or Anderson need to decide to cover back now and then to cover the runners to cut a few of their chances out. Other parts of their game are fine just would like them to drop back to help the defence out a little bit more than they are.

Churbishley with yet another of his classic cooking anecdotes...

Basel was on top at the thyme

I think we've been fairly sloppy, great to be in front obviously, but I'd expect a better second half performance
