E-ON FA CUP 6th ROUND
08 MARCH 2008
KO - 12:45 GMT
OLD TRAFFORD

These get made quicker and quicker these days.

United to comfortably win methinks, Saha should play

Should be a comfortable win, Pompey haven't been playing as well as they were at the beginning of the season. Hopefully Saha willl start. 2-0.

Team should be.....

GK: VDS

RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Hargreaves
CM: Scholes
LM: Park

CF: Tevez
CF: Rooney

Subs: PIG, O'Shea, Anderson, Nani, Saha

EDIT:

Oh and we'll win, Rooney and Tevez to score!

That Pompy badge is a little iffy as well while we're looking for hanging offences

Think we'll go with...

VDS
Brown
Vidic
Ferdinand
O'Shea

Park
Hargreaves
Scholes
Giggs

Tevez
Saha

1-0: Saha

Not sure about the score but your line-up looks about right. Rooney and Ronaldo on the bench in case we need to use them for the last 30 mins. Evra needs a rest.

100% sure Hargreaves-Scholes will start in central midfield on saturday if both are fit.
Also think Park will start, Ronaldo or Giggs on the left. Nani to rest.

Saha-Tevez upfront or will Rooney start again?

We can put a good line up for this game cause next league game is at Derby next weekend.

seconded, i think Evra needs a rest and there is enough quality in our team to do the job. i reckon we'll win 2-0

Going by Fergie's recent chopping and changing...

PIG
Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - O'Shea
Park - Scholes - Hargreaves - Giggs
Saha - Tevez

No idea why people want to bench/rest Rooney and Ronaldo, we're getting too caught up with the rotation, they're young, they can play more than 2 games in a row.

Tough task to second-guess Fergie nowadays...

Kuszczak

Brown
Rio
Pique
O'Shea

Nani
Scholes
Carrick
Park

Saha
Tevez

Bench: VDS, Vidic, Hargreaves, Rooney, Ronaldo.

2-0 comfy I hope. Let's give the lads some rest before we play the mighty Derby

We've got no game til the 15th after this (which is Derby), so why feck about with the lineup? Tuesday->Saturday is a long enough gap, no need to mess about with the team AGAIN, because it's going to backfire soon. I'm naturally pessimistic.

VDS

Brown
Rio
Vidic
Evra

Ronaldo

Rooney
Tevez

Bench: Thomas K, O'Shea, Carrick, Park, Saha

No more bitchings who starts the thread then? ;)

Redknapp must be happy that we could afford to rest Scholes during the week. I think Ronaldo will start the game on bench with Park coming in. I can´t decide whether Fergie will rest Rooney or Tevez or both or none.

Have we ever seen PIG in an important game unless VDS is injured?

Tevez barely played yesterday, Rooney will be rested for sure. Saha and Tevez upfront

Defoe: Get in United's faces

Jermain Defoe today laid down his blueprint for an FA Cup shock at Manchester United.
Pompey's new £7.5m hit-man has told his team-mates to get in United's faces and use their power to stop the red machine at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Defoe admitted he will hate every minute of the quarter-final clash as he sits it out while being cup-tied.

But the 25-year-old firmly believes his new team-mates have what it takes to match the champions.

Defoe has been taken aback at the physical might Pompey possess since joining them, as well as their ability.

He insisted the plan has to be to fight fire with fire to avoid a repeat of January's 2-0 defeat, where Pompey were hit with two quickfire goals.

Defoe said: 'It's going to be a decent game at Old Trafford.

'This time if we get in their faces from the whistle I think we can do well.

'You never know what can happen – it's a cup game.

'You have to go there and not sit back.

'If you do that you will get exposed because of their quality. We have to be at them from the whistle.

'If we do that who knows what could happen? The staff will do their preparation to make sure we can beat them.

'Everyone's up for it – these are the type of games you want to play in as a footballer.

'They are a great side all the way through. Everyone knows that.

'We sat back when we went there recently, they got those two early goals and then we were chasing it.

'But we look at ourselves and the quality we have.

'If we go there, get in their faces and work hard, you don't know what is going to happen.

'It's disappointing not to be playing.

'This is the FA Cup – one of the biggest competitions in the world.

'So I'm gutted I'm not playing to be honest.

'I hate not playing in games and watching. It's going to be hard to do it.

'But if we go there and get in their faces, we can do well.

'We have power in the team and we pass the ball well. If we can use that we can go there and cause an upset.'

Defoe believes the defeat at Everton hasn't knocked the stuffing out of his team going into Saturday's clash.

In fact he sensed a conviction that Pompey can build momentum going into the season's finale.

He said: 'I thought we had a good spell at the end of the first half at Everton.

'We went in at half time and told each other we could win the game.

'If you look at it, it wasn't a 3-1 game.

'Maybe if you look at it we perhaps weren't disciplined enough at the end.

'We tried to get the goal and got exposed and they had their chances.

'But apart from that I thought we were the better side.

'They are a good side but with a little more discipline we can win games like that.'

Fergie said last night that there'd be 2 or 3 changes to last nights team, with the central midfield being changed. So i reckon Hargreaves, Scholes and Tevez will come in for Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson

He says that like he played in it.
