Manchester United vs. Southampton

I've heard this phase several times recently, Hernandez most recently. It simpler means he's got two goals and thus is on his way toward a hat trick. Silly, but it is distinguishable from actually having a hat trick.

It's not a recent thing. To be on a hat trick means you're one goal, wicket, whatever, off a hat trick. It's common phrase that has been about for years. But yeah, if you don't understand it it's silly.

Thank god. Just got to work.

Can watch a stream and not listen to the ABU wankers on fotmob. (Thanks again to who on here suggested it :D).

COME ON UNITED.

Macca ''There ye go, THERE YE GO''

Why on Earth is Vida conceding a corner? Hoof it for a throw!

Think it comes from being on course for a hat trick.. just 1 goal away.

Judging from these comments I'm so glad to have my stream in incomprehensible Russian, beats listening to that cretin Mcmanamanmanmanman.

 I meant as a player you bunch of bloody comedians.

It's easily understood, but it's still a silly a way of putting it, at least to an American ear. Most listeners easily comprehend that if Hernandez has scored two goals, he's one goal away from a hat trick. You don't need to say that Hernandez "is on a hat trick" unless you want to fill up time in the broadcast or just to get in the words "hat trick", which everyone loves to say.

We took the foot off the gas a bit after our 2nd, lets up it and put them to bed early second half.

It's depressing how easy we can be to play against. Hold the ball in your defence for long enough to allow the midfielders to get forward near the strikers, then hoof it and look for knock downs.

This Spanish coach has English football nailed.

Okay, I've now seen the Southampton goal. What the fukk was Carrick thinking?

No doubt the British media will come with full fury on De Gea with bags of shit.

Strange half.

Erratic passing and erratic defending at times.

Not a lot of realw width, which you'd expect without wingers.

Goal against is part Carrick part De Gea, IMO. Horrible back pass by Carrick and De Gea mistimed his "block". Looked to me like he could have managed to clear, but that he pulled away bit at the end.

De Gea makes mistakes too. I think he gets over defended on here sometimes. Nothing wrong in admitting he makes mistakes, he is still a great prospect and player for us.
