Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

I'd almost be booing if I was at the game, that's 45 of the worst minutes of football I've seen at OT in years.

If anyone should be given the hairdryer, its the old man himself. Absolutely stubborn stuff.

We beat this Spurs side easily last season at OT with Anderson and Cleverley playing but they are not even warming up now.

More than a striker, we need to bring on a midfielder who can move a bit.
Clev or Anderson on for anyone... doesnt matter who goes off.. One of those two coming on will improve our performance.

Giggs can still play in central midfield. But I'd agree he shouldn't start on the wing against a team with speed like Spurs. Welbeck for me.

But that's no reason to slate Giggs or suggest he's 'done' at this level.

A fine back-up central midfielder still.

I think there is plenty to suggest and back up the idea that the days of Giggs as a starter in matches against quality opponents are over.
It was just last week that he was absolutely horrendous... What was SAF thinking of ?

No positive in this half. Too passive and got dominated in midfield. We can still win this knowing Spurs can self destruct at times

Let's see - Spurs have Dembele, Lennon, Bale and Dempsey. All great ball carriers with pace and movement.
So we pick the slowest most static midfield possible, you cant make this shit up.

I don't think giggs should be a starter - on current form. Spurs have been very good but 2 maybe breaks through the middle have got the goals for them. I hope Anderson, Welbeck and Rooney come on for the second half.

fecking absolutely rubbish team out there right now.

The formation is all wrong. The selection is wrong.

Its been clear that when we play a 4-5-1 we are absolutely shit. We just don't know how to utilise Kagawa properly in this formation and its a case of Scholes & Carrick being much too immobile and static. Those two just tend to sit in the centre and never make any forward runs, meaning Kagawa has barely any options whenever he even gets onto the ball...most of the time with his back to goal.

All our attacks still come from the right hand side through Nani. It just seems like we can't play it through the middle. Its really just hit and hope from a cross to a very short Kagawa and Van Persie.

I'd rather we go 4-4-2 and just have a punt. We can't do worse than now.

The spurs midfield have exposed us as slow and lethargic from our midfield to our defence.

Giggs is done. He's been done for a while now. He has the odd good performance but that doesn't change the fact that most of his games he does nothing effective.

He's a legend, but I wish he'd just retire so the team could move on.

SAF is to blame though. He keeps playing him in every big game...

Need both cleverly and anderson to come out, carrick to shield the midfield. Scholes and giggs should really come off right now.

Giggs has lifetime immunity. He'll play the full 90. We need Rooney and Anderson on to make something happen. This is even worse than the shite we put up at Anfield last week.

We need to switch the formation. We need two strikers up front.

RVP--------Rooney

Kagawa

Scholes------Carrick-----Anderson

unbelievably bad first half, we had nothing to offer.
Maybe I was a bit harsh on Nani, looking again, it could of easily been a pen.

It should have been a pen but ref couldn't see Vertonghen's hand from his position.

I'd fecking love for a centre mid with some power and pace.

Oh wait Ando's here.....on the bench.

Kagawa would do well if he had support...he has no one to pass to and he gets closed down losing the ball. We have no fecking movement off the ball.

Fine is stretching it, to be perfectly honest. I'd rather have O'Shea, I think.

I'm talking about Giggs sitting back and playing the sort of midfield game that Scholes plays. He doesn't have his long passing, but I think he can build a game from the back well enough.

When he's having an off game though he tends to look pretty off, to be fair.

feck! I have to leave the house at like 7 to go to a party - but I don't want to because I sense a 5-2 win!

Carsick is always shit when we play good opposition

Usually takes him a while to get going.

But we really do need someone to take charge in midfield and actually create some movement.

Passing the ball to Kagawa is great but after the ball gets to him, he has absolutely no options other than to pass it back 20 yards.

We just lack any pace and drive in midfield. It makes us so easy to defend and thats why we have to rely on our wingers to create. Very predictable that Nani is going to be our lone creator today.

The whole formation just doesn't work.

Giggs has been woeful thus far. I get that at any moment he can provide a bit of 'magic' - but why set up like this against a team with so much pace and power? I'll give Kagawa a pass thus far as the midfield behind him hasn't done anything - he has to be frustrated. It seems as though every time Carrick has tried to get the ball through the middle, he's misplaced the pass or hasn't put enough pace on it.

Our only outlet is Nani, which Spurs seem well aware of. I'd put Rooney on (I'd have started him) for Giggs and shift Kagawa left.

With that said, it's early days with this squad and I'm not terribly worried. A comeback won't surprise me either. But, as with most of the rest of the posters the team selection baffled me.
