Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic, 20/11/10

I'm begining to think Fergie's gone mental.

Either that or he serverly overates exactly where some of these players are at. The front six barely pass for a mid table side.

and why does he keep playing unbelievably negative formations against shit teams?

Ah c'mon noodle that's very harsh, no front six with Nani, Fletcher and Carrick is 'mid table'. It's not a great line-up by any means but it should do the job, and with both Hernandez and a Rooney with loads to prove on the bench, we should be fine.

It's not a bad side at all. Not our strongest, but there's more then enough out there to secure three points at home.

Carrick and Fletcher were awful as a partnership last week against two teenagers, Nani's been in poor form recently, Park's very hit and miss. Neither Obertan or Macheda are experienced or at a level yet where it's fair to throw them into the fire.

It's about as strong as the side who were lucky not to lose to Wolves in the Carling Cup.

We seem obsessed with deliberately making things difficult for ourselves this season.

Macheda deserves his start he really got us out of the shit last week

Obertan so far has looked awesome as a sub so it's his chance to show what he can do in 90.

Maybe if any of the three of them were in any kind of form.

The problem is, our midfield hasn't worked in a single game this season without Scholes, and our attack hasn't functioned in a single game without Berbatov. Without either of them we've looked distinctly average. If we're going to leave both out the rest of the side really does need to be as strong as possible, and you only need to look at the bench to see that isn't the case.

I think that is 4-3-3 with Park in central midfield. I could be wrong but I love Berbatov out of the team!

Hehe gotta love Fergie.

Interesting line-up. Good to see Obertan getting a start.

Gives Berba some time to think about his recent shitness on the stands then.

So essentially people are getting worked up because we've dropped Hernandez and Berbatov who have both been pretty poor the last few games and are by no means key players? Spastics.

I don't think Hernandez has been poor at all. I think he has caused problems whenever he's on. His pace caused problems and got players booked and created a decent chance for Berbatov against Villa early on, which Berbs failed to capitalize on.

It's all setup for Rooney to come on and score a 90th min winner. Would love to see the reaction if that happened

Happy with the team. We're using the squad and Kiko and Obertan deserve a chance.

Lets see how they do first. Obertan and Macheda deserve to start. Rooney was never going to walk right back into the team. I think we'll win comfortably today.

That's essentially it. Rooney isn't quite ready to start as well.

Our youngsters turned it round in the last game and they deserve the opportunity to built on it. Nobody else has been making their case for a start and these guys are in on merit. Just believe in them and encourage them to succeed. We are at home so I expect a much better overall performance than we did against Aston Villa.

I would prefer to see Park in the central role instead of Obertan though. I think they would be more effective in each others role for today.

Er, they're our two top scorers. That's about as key as it gets.

This is the same front six that could barely muster a chance or spell of dominance at home against an utterly hopeless Bursaspor side, except with Obertan instead of Anderson, so arguably weaker.

Surprising selections up front but Obertan deserves his chance and it's time Macheda performs from the start.

Im all for giving Kiko and Obertan a chance but in a game we have to win it seems like a risk imo

In all fairness, Hernandez and Berbatov have hit a dry patch - I'd have to say that on merit neither deserves to start.

Arse losing should give the lads an extra incentive today aswell. Could do with going above them and closing strongly on chelsea. They have a very tough game away to birmingham today and we could easily be level on points 14 games in having played pretty poorly all along.

In a nut-shell, yes.

Oh and we're playing Wigan at home. Thought that was worth a mention too.

Solid bench.

Neither are key players though. Rooney is a key player. Nani is a key player. Fletcher is a key player. Hernandez isn't much more established than Obertan or Macheda. Berbatov has been crap for a while (to not even be on the bench also suggests he has a problem - but nah, let's slag off SAF anyway)

Obertan in for Anderson certainly gives us a more attacking formation.
