Marouane Fellaini gets 12 month contract extension clause triggered

Played a big part in the goal today, he does have his uses and it seems he's very popular and will give his all. It term of his contract, there's no point in letting him leave on a free in the summer, activating the 12 months seems a no brainer even if he isn't in the plans for next season (he could be of course).

Jose really handles Fellaini's Everton moment really well. Now he has a player that would walk through the fire for him, even though playing as a sub.

Good cameo today from the big man.

The final action of the game was when he fouled the defender in the box with a push and then the final whistle was blown.
He is infuriating and must be sold in the summer.

He can't win the big fella. We all want to play attacking, high tempo, pass and move football with the ball on the ground but obviously there's team's out there ahead of us.

Fellaini is looked at as symbolic of us abandoning that attempt to play good football but long balls up to him are difficult to defend. I'd like to see stats on how many aerial duels he won against Klaven his few minutes, more than Ibra and pogba combined I'd say.

He offers nothing, at best he comes in and just sort of stays out of the way. At worst he makes needless fouls and gives away penalties. He truly offers us nothing.
Im no Fellaini fan but you are wrong here. He offers us a different style of play. Whether or not we like that style misses the point, if we have to we can change from our usual style in a game to an alternative one and that at times can cause oppositions problems in adjusting to that change.
How many penalties has he given away in the time he has been with us? There is this myth growing here as if its something he does on a regular basis. There was also the myth of him getting sent off.
So tell me how many penalties has he given away and how many red cards has he conceded and are those numbers excessive and out of line with other players?
Personally I would rather we sold him and got in a high quality DM but the idea he offers nothing is over the top.

Of course, nobody is going to buy a player like Fellaini, even for say, £10 million, are they. Yup it is easy when there are so many daft comments about.
Who knows what is going to happen? Neither you or I do and you can make up numbers all you want.

Regarding it being a no brainer to extend his contract for financial reasons alone though is just as daft a comment as many of the others you say are floating around. Your point relies solely on him being sold this summer. I think the evidence suggests that Jose quite likes him and considering how he's been used effectively recently it's by no means guaranteed that he will be sold. What do you say if he is offered a new contract in the summer instead?

It's very important to have someone on the bench that will do everything he can to help you.
When the play you want to play doesn't work or is impossible on a certain moment it is always good to have someone on the banch who can change it, and we all know it doesn't work outall the time the way we want it to be.

If he's offered a new contract then it's because our manager wants him here. That's good enough for me.

I think Fellaini deserves to stay. Not for the starting lineup but like the game against Liverpool he's a very good choice. It's good to have different types of players in a squad. Sometimes you even need the "unattractive" wins because of the opponents being very good at their defence.

Fellaini is never going to be seen as a "World class player" but you know what you get with him. He did an excellent job yesterday and if he can be used like this all the tie and if he is ok with being a sub, he should stay.

I also like that Mourinhi and Fellaini seem to have a better "connection" now after his "miss" a while ago.

His is ott.

I think it's just a discernible feature on a player that most people dislike - therefore they extend their dislike to that feature, the afro itself is not the problem.

My afro is twice the size of his, don't blame his hair.

I don't like him or his hair.

His afro is awesome imo.

Either he hasn't got rid of the afro or it springs back immediately like some sort of cartoon character

Granted he's not good enough to be in the starting 11, but he can do a job coming off the bench (see Liverpool, forget Everton ). And I actually quite like him, felt so bad for him when he got booed, especially in the friendly!

Jose Mourinho admits he is "worried" over the current contract situation surrounding Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Fellaini's contract is due to expire at the end of the season after United activated a one-year extension earlier this year, leaving him free to speak to other clubs in the January window.

And Mourinho, who also has defender Luke Shaw nearing the end of his own deal next year, has revealed his concern at the possibility of Fellaini becoming a free-agent in the summer.

"I'm worried about Fellaini and not about Luke Shaw because Fellaini finishes his contract and Luke Shaw doesn't," Mourinho said.

Fellaini joined Manchester United from Everton for £27.5m in September 2013 and has become an important player during Mourinho's reign at Old Trafford

The midfielder scored four goals in eight starts for the club this season before injuring his knee on duty for Belgium against Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 7.

Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Ashley Young are all coming to the end of their own contracts at United with each having the option to a further one-year extension, which the club indicate will be triggered.

Well seems he is here until next summer then. Don't know what is going on with these contracts, with letting them run out.

We should concentrate more on getting Gomes to sign a contract or we will lose him, same as Pogba
