Marseille Vs Manchester United

Threw my phone in the wall when I noticed Gibson is starting. Wtf...

Another evening ruined for you Richter. Now you can't stick it up your arse because of the jagged edges.

On the other hand...

I think Rooney on the wing is fine. He will work hard .

Tonight will be a very tough game. And will be close. I am not expecting an exciting match, but a solid performance with one or two chances for us. Take one of them and I will be delighted

Don't like the line-up at all, hope it's not 442 with Fletcher on the right as then it would be bad.

Those of you who don't want Gibson - who do you want to play there ?

Hargreaves, Park, Giggs and Anderson are all out injured - Scholes isn't quick enough in away games. If we play 4-3-3 - Gibson is the obvious choice

We could win 5-0 and Gibson would still be slated

But that doesnt change that he goes missing quite often. Hopefully not tonight

Fergie said Marseille were a physical team, he must have figured Rafael might get injured and Scholes might get sent off.

Apparently not, you'd think all that success, experience and those trophies might have taught him by now that knee-jerk fans' opinions should be treated more seriously

When has it worked this season? It hasn't.

I´m not Gibbo´s biggest fan but tonight I have a feeling he will surprise us with an excellent performance.

I'm not arguing that Gibson is a great player, I'm pointing out that he needs game time to improve, and apparently Fergie thinks he's worth giving game time to. As we're top of the table, and still in the FA Cup and Champions' League I'd say we've not gone too far wrong so far this season.

I'm also suggesting SAF might know better than us on occasions such as this - what with seeing players in training, it being his job, and his being SAF and all.

I agree. There is a lot that goes on behind closed doors that we don't see. I just hope this gives him the confidence to push on.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

That would be the most stupid reason not to play Scholes.

Scholes has one of the best, if not the best passing efficiency in the world under pressure or otherwise., so I don't see him holding onto the ball enough to be bullied. I can only guess Fergie needs a few ball winners, particularly in the deep role and perhaps some legs.

Would obviously prefer Scholes in midfield than Gibson, but that's a given. Hopefully Gibson can have a good game and turn the doubters (well, for atleast 3 days anyway). C'mon UNITED!! Can't fecking wait for this game!

this is a big game for Gibson - lets hope he doesnt let us down

Come on Gibbo

But Gibson doesn't provide that either. He doesn't work hard enough when we don't have the ball and he's an absolute plodder when he does have it.

Well said, Gibson needs a good game tonight. Still won't make a difference to some people on here

Come on Gibbo

He didn't again Bayern, when we played a similar formation, and midfield combination... Carrick and Fletch doing all the grunt work, with Gibbo in advanced positions :D

and we looked to have secured a CL semifinal spot, until Rafael got suckered into a red card

So I'm expecting similar results(without the disastrous ending)...Marseille won't know what hit 'em

I think this will be a big test for Gibson and our creativity without Anderson or Scholesy.

I remember time when Carrick-Fletcher were on top of their game. Hope we get flashes of that today.

Carrick will play the deep role that Scholes normally does, Gibson will be more advanced.
