MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

If Rooney is solely motivated by his ambition to win and be at the top of the game, why is it that he has not shown that desire on the pitch in the past two months?

Frankly, I do not believe his statement on United not matching his ambitions. It seems like his focus is not entirely on the pitch these days.

"For me it's all about winning trophies"

Huh?? What the feck? Does he know that he would had been a big part of our dominance for the years to come? Is Wayne scared of the pressure when he's coming to the age where he REALLY has to step up without the safety net(Scholes,Giggs)

How anyone can be so sure this will be the case is beyond me.

We've a group of experienced player's retiring soon, we have the greatest manager ever but he too is not a million years away from retirement, this is bad enough but when you see the debt heaped on the club and the interest rates, along with the lack of investment in adding quality to the squad in recent times, I'd say it'd be folly of us to believe our domination is sure to continue. Especially in light of the superior finances elsewhere in the PL and in Europe.

Of course, it's all they could've done. But the thought he could become the poster child of people like Drasdo is frightening...Because that WILL put G&G back years.

The boy turned out to be a cnut, but then it's hard to see how he wasn't to begin with. The fact of the matter is we are on a downturn, but every club goes through that at one point or another, and we have many times before (most recently when Rooney signed) and we can't win everything all the time. But even if Rooney did think that, to claim it's a justifiable reason to piss off mid-season after an unprecidented run of success and not even stick around for a few years to see what happens is laughable. With the likes of Fabregas/Torres and even Gerrard staying with teams in far far worse positions, it's ridiculous for him to come out and say "I just need to win trophies" after finishing a point off the top and actually wining one last year whilst City (if that is who he's going to) went trophiless and have no guarentee of being anything a long term super club like United are...And didn't win anything, nor even look like it. He might as well go to Spurs if that's the case.

It's even more laughable though that some are buying it because they're desperate to latch onto anything Gill/Glazer related...It makes them, and the movement look silly

You are agreeing with what I am saying you dope.

WHY NOW..

Its not like the situation wasnt clear to him the last time he renewed his contract, and its not like he hadn't seen Ronaldo leave.

If he came out when Ronaldo went and said "this is wrong. I am fecking off " then I'd say "fair play.. cant argue with you"

But he's sat there for FIVE YEARS knowing the constraints, knowing at some point we would falter due to the lack of funds.

Thats my issue with what he's done. Not what he's saying.

Fine we are skint, no one disagrees with you, but don't sit there taking a fecking huge sum of money from City and huge wages, don't sit there telling us that a club with nothing to show for 36 years is any more ambitious that United are.

I think what he's done is a cnuts trick. He's used United when it suited him.

But on the reverse side, Gill needs to come out and tell us all exactly what he told Rooney. Because GIll has handed Rooney the excuse on a plate. He's just given him the keys and told him "let yourself out"

Whos the loser ? Fergie.. Fergie is now stuck with a player who doesnt want to be here, and a boss who somehow has managed to feck off his best player and persuade him that fecking off is a great idea.

If I were fergie I'd be kicking down Gills door and asking "WHAT THE feck DID YOU SAY TO HIM"

We have always signed unproved youths like Bebe, since the 80's

Which isn't a problem in itself (although the spending on these has increased lately, with the likes of Obertan), but it's a combination of all of the above. Ronaldo and Tevez leaving, big players going to other big clubs, etc etc etc. And if Gill couldn't make any promises about the future of the club, obviously the words spoken in that meeting have had a profound effect (and those are words we will probably never be privy to).

If he joins City then I imagine they'll come out with a statement condemning his actions while stressing that this is now the future of the clubs unless the fans start doing something.

Take a bad situation and turn it into something useful to fit your own agenda. Exactly what Rooney and his people were hoping the United fans would do.

Calculated more like it. They knew just how to play Must and instantly get 160k fans and their attention diverted.

It's sad, but it's a good move from them.

So Rooney has the best season in his career AFTER ronaldo and tevez leaving which makes him our main/best player and he has the nerve to say the players we brought aren't good enough..........

I don't see why people are turning against Rooney when he's saying exactly the same things the fans have been saying for years. Lack of big name signings and the likes of Silva, Ozil and Villa all moving are obviously catalysts for this, as well as signing unproven youths like Bebe. This forum has been full of moaners about this, now Rooney says it and the pitchforks are out.

Maybe I'm just naive.

I could quote several idiots here...

The big difference is that the vast majority of fans moaning on here will still support United long after the cnut has fkd off to Citeh. Support your manager and your club.

Only thing I will say is that I imagine this the the kind of shite Ribery put Bayern Munchen fans through last year (albeit, he was not their icon) and he still ended up there ... this still could play out many ways.

feck me that statement gets worse everytime I read it... there are literally a thousand ways in which its fecked up.... its embarrassing.

That must be the worst PR attempt in sports history. Jesus Christ.

I hope we feck him off ASAP

Undefeated in 18 without him(or at least I haven't seen him on the pitch), I say we sell, then magically win the league while he's forced to sit out the CL final watching as we beat his new Chelsea team as we complete a double.

He can have his future success with whoever he goes, but I'd love for that to happen.

EXACTLY.

Support the club, and support the manager.

Not lying CEOs and most certainly not greedy scousers.

Gill is as much to blame for this as Rooney.

Please don't be fooled.

You, me, Fergie and about the whole bloody world.

It's not about being fooled. He has been shown to be a bit of a cnut throughout this, and I doubt that we will ever know exactly what has been going on properly. This doesn't change the fact that over the last few years we have got rid of Ronaldo, didn't resign Tevez, got in a bunch of unproven players and have decided not to actually spend any money on real, proven quality.

Look at the next few years with Giggs, Scholes, Van Der Sar, Neville all retiring. Rio being dead, Hargreaves being dead, Carrick gaining universal acclaim at being a bit slow these days, Nani blowing hot and cold and frustrating, Berba being all over the place, Ando not showing much of anything, Evra being mullered, Gibson being wank and with a question mark over the twins and you I can understand his fears.

If Gill can't say to Rooney that we are going to sign big players then what the feck do you expect him to do?

Add Fergie retiring soon to the list and it looks bleak.

When Darren Fletcher is our best midfielder I do worry for this club. Unfortunately I can't simply request a transfer from the club I love. Rooney can.

I hate the little feckwit right now, but you can see logic in it.

Or maybe you just read the transfer forum too much.

I'm definitely not a muppet, and I've seen the reasons for not going for certain players, but we're talking about the present and the future, not what has been won in previous seasons. I don't want us to go out and spent £80m on a couple of 30 year olds just for the sake of having big names, but the transfer balance has clearly become skewed lately, and it's a worrying trend.

So Rooney has the best season in his career AFTER ronaldo and tevez leaving which makes him our main/best player and he has the nerve to say the players we brought aren't good enough..........

Just what I am trying to say.

If he had fecked off when ROnaldo and Tevez went, then I'd be there saying "i cant blame him"

Its the fact the cnut has sat for two - three years taking the wonga, then comes out and says it now, just as City come sniffing.

You are agreeing with what I am saying you dope.

Well you've changed your tune from saying he could end up a hero and that the average neutral won't think he's a cnut then....Cos I don't believe either of those will happen even remotely.

Whos the loser ? Fergie..

I agree with that..

I think Fergie is much closer to Gill than he is with Rooney...He'll already know. Personally I don't think he even said anything...I think Rooney's bullshitting. Apparently this meeting was last week, yet Fergie said he told them in August?...It doesn't match. Not that Gill isn't hiding something, but I don't think blaming it on Gill is a masterstroke, I think it's the last deseperate act of an idiot and an agent.

WTF Rooney?

We missed winning the league by one point and the only reason why we were not in the CL final last year was due to a rookie mistake by Da Silva. So our team was competing on all fronts very competitively. And we also added couple of attacking players and a young and promising defender.

WTF?

Is this true?

If you mean the undefeated in 18, then yes it is. We haven't lost this season in any tournament and didn't lost the last few last season, and have you REALLY seen him in those games?

I am kinda ignoring the fact that most of these were pretty easy games really, and there were some shocking draws in there -_-

The boy's saying that he met with Gill again last week which of course is full of shit. Even if he did, I doubt anything Gill would have said would change his mind.

Yeah no i thought as much but wanted confirmation

Noone's bigger than the club feck him

It pisses me off that he was playing for us despite clearly not wanting too though i respect Fergie was probably trying to change his mind

feck him now

Ronaldo only went last summer, we have only done one season without him. Just speculating but he probably thought we would reinvest the Ronaldo money and after this summer past, it probably became obvious we wouldn't.

Right, so he's not happy with hte aging squad. He doesnt like that we arent getting big names.

Fair comment.... No ones arguing with him. THats the situation.. deal with it.

Did he think Scholes, Giggs, VDS etc were going to stay 29 forever ?

He knew the time would come when the shit would hit the fan. He knew that the club was stuck in debt and wouldn't be spending that sort of money to replace them.

Knowing all that, two years ago he STILL signed a contract extension, and took the higher wages.

He had the chance to go back then. He told us he would stay for life.

Now City come into money and suddenly our lack of funds is an issue. Our lack of ambition isnt there.

IT WAS LIKE THAT TWO YEARS AGO YOU SOFT GREEDY cnut. DONT GO TRYING TO TELL US YOU DIDNT KNOW.

so why the hell he s still bothering turning up for England?

He obviously decided during the summer. Quite possibly at the World Cup, after finding out how much the Shitty boys are on.

What I find funny is that Rooney's acting like we didn't take a chance on him at 18, helped him grow into the player he is and waited while he (and others, of course, like Ronaldo) matured. Now we've also got some good young players, but he's basically saying in this bogus statement not waiting for them, oh no...

I agree with you completely, he has been a classless cnut over this.

If he pulls on our jersey again I will be shocked.

Just what I am trying to say.

Its the fact the cnut has sat for two - three years taking the wonga, then comes out and says it now, just as City come sniffing.

It's absolutely the biggest piece of tripe he could have come out with, obviously aided by his brilliant agent. He's got bollocks to say that about Man Utd and Ferguson. I thought he would have been the happiest person in the world after Ronnie went, he was the main man free to lap up all the applause because tbh when Ronaldo was on fire he was doing a lot of dog work on the left which we were gratfeful for.

His statement just justifies 'I want more money, forget Utd' because it's not as if he's in Fabregas' position.

I've defended Drasdo and MUST from some pretty hypocritical and transparently dishonest agenda driven attacks in the past, but on this occasion, he deserves all of the criticism that is coming his way (from honest observers, of course).

Even if what Rooney had said was largely defensible, it would have been distasteful to appear just an hour later and use it to further a largely unrelated agenda, but to use something which is so obviously false and offensively so is extremely disappointing, to say the least.

I share many of MUST's aims, but I don't appreciate the way in which they sometimes behave, even if they are a volunteer organization.

They might all be valid points, if he'd have come out in the summer and started with the record straight.

He didn't, he's basically fecked us over both on and off the pitch.

It's money, money, money.

Haha, Rooney is becoming a joke for so many reasons...

Wouldnt it be funny if he joins City who havent won feck all?

I wish he would have been honest, at least now

Either Rooney is being honest and making a point about the transfer policy, or he thinks he is too big for the club. Either way, it will be disruptive to the team so it's probably for the best if he goes in January.

Of course, it's all they could've done. But the thought he could become the poster child of people like Drasdo is frightening...Because that WILL put G&G back years.

Oh I agree. Rooney's just about won everything possible in club football, so unlike say Gerrard he has no right to moan about the lack of ambition, quite frankly. I think his only interest is in his bank balance....and to be at the top of the earners list.

What I find funny is that Rooney's acting like we didn't take a chance on him at 18, helped him grow into the player he is and waited while he (and others, of course, like Ronaldo) matured. Now we've also got some good young players, but he's basically saying in this bogus statement not waiting for them, oh no...

Like I said, selfish of him but if he had a chance to earn more and probably be in a position to win more.....

Bang on. They certainly aren't my voice, in fact I'm embarrassed by it.
