Mesut Özil

Thought Arsenal looked a lot more dangerous whenever Santi was in the middle, rather than Ozil. Ozil was average in my opinion.

Strikes me as being pretty evident that Ozil's top level is a notch above Cazorla's.

Cazorla is great though - effective player who is so technically gifted on both sides. Under-appreciated.

Cazorla's always been a better big game player than Ozil.

His free-kick against Real a couple of years ago.

Thought Cazorla was the most likely to create something against us at the end too. Was genuinely scared he tested De Gea twice. Ozil also stepped up in the final few minutes. Thank God he had Giroud beside him and not Ronaldo lol.

Ozil will never be the star of a team, the one a team relies on - especially in the big games. If Arsenal had got Suarez in over the summer, there would be far less attention on Ozil and he would have a genuine world class player to create for without the weight of the team.

Not that I believe Arsenal would have bought Ozil had they got Suarez, but if they can get a player of that calibre this coming summer then next season things will be different.

Hardly. Last night he looked much more dangerous than Ozil in the second half. Whilst I don't doubt Ozil to be a better player, last night Cazorla should have moved centrally.

Yeah i thought Cazorla looked dangerous not just because of the attempted shots but also made some sweet long balls and passes stretching our defense. These moves will not be seen on MOTD.

It's like he doesn't like playing football. As soon as he gets the ball, he's looking for the closest person within 5 yards who he can pass it to.

What kind of analysis is that? It was a good half for Ozil, but he looks tired.

He doesn't look happy at all. Look at his miserable eyes, trying to go two different ways looking for another club.

Goner in summer?

People expect him to carry Arsenal and win games for them alone as a result of his price-tag. He's not that 'type' of player though, and would look better accommodating somebody who is.

If Arsenal could get a world-class striker up front who does that the ability to win games on his own, out of nothing and be the difference then he'll look a lot better.

Can't see them getting one though. Suarez would have been perfect (I know they probably wouldn't have bought both).

Andy Carroll was funny. Ozil's been good, not great, with room for improvement. And we know he can improve, unlike Carroll.
Nobody claimed Andy Carroll was one of the top 5 players in the world though (that's a world I don't want to imagine).

That was all Chamberlain, I'm afraid.

Ozil's pass was neat, but nothing out of the ordinary. He had thirty yards of space to thread that ball into.
I'm trying to prove that he did contribute. He had a good game and it shows just how much more his game is made easier for him when players are moving in front of him.

It was a shit pass by Ozil, kinda stuff you see in Sunday league football.

I'm in agreement that he had a good game (and apologies for appearing to jump all over your post, MM), but that 'pre-assist' pass was genuinely run-of-the-mill stuff.

Still, much better from him today.

You weren't jumping over my post. No need to apologise, mate. I agree that it was a basic pass to be made. He's had two good games in a week against us and Liverpool which is promising, but I thought this was a great opportunity to rest him.

Well he had 20 good minutes against us but today he was good throughout indeed. He does look tired though and I'm surprised Wenger didn't rest him today.
