Newcastle United v Manchester United

Welbeck's been terrible. Not his fault but nothing he's trying is coming off today.

Evra doing his best to give Newcastle a penalty.

Nah, he probably knows its very very unlikely a ref will ever give a pen for that (even though they should). Obviously it's a risk and he shouldn't be doing it, but ref's rarely give pens for it.

Some random moron trying to end the half faking the ref's whistle

2-0 at half time away at SJP.

Take that all day.

still can't believe what Welbeck missed.
On the other hand Evra has been an absolute beast, how's that for a shocker.

Welbeck has been very poor. His touch and awareness can lack so much at times, and he really can't finish for shit.

Really good start to the game. Though Newcastle have worked their way back into the game after the first 20.

Welbeck has been a bit average so far. Good movement, but his finishing has been rubbish so far

Great start, high pressing and tempo to our game and some crisp passing. Dropped off after the second goal and our play was not as good. Need to start playing like we did at the start of the game.

Welbeck really should've scored at least 1. Rooney's been superb.

Might be worth taking off Welbeck, bringing on Valencia and moving Kagawa more central.

Very impressed by the defending in the first half by the back four + Rooney and Cleverley.
Welbeck has been average, he is just shit inside the penalty box, he has got no killer instinct there.Evra has been immense, I just wish RVP would stop with those incredibly tackles.

Really impressive first 25 minutes. We sat back a bit later on but that was always going to happen. Hopefully we will again start the next half on a high.

HT.

Fairly happy with that. We've got a 2 goal lead and we've withstood their fightback. We are lacking a bit of width but that hasn't hurt us too much. Just gotta keep the ball moving towards our attackers and we will create more chances. Rooney in particular has been extremely active on the pitch, but could do with some proper chances of his own.

Want Kagawa switched to the left and Valencia taken on. Rooney has been wonderful. Ridiculous amount of work he's put in.

The first 15 minutes were awesome. Since then...

I don't really understand why we're just hoofing it. We're trying to bypass our own, packed midfield... We need to keep the ball better, need to be a bit more patient, hold on to it. This "route one" stuff doesn't suit the line-up at all.

Welbz has lost the confidence he had last season. Doesn't know what to do when he has the ball.

Needs a goal and it'll all be good, Strikers are a sensitive breed. Suits this formation well, first 20 mins we were excellent and I believe that's when we've had all our attempts. Welbeck should have had 2 to add to the corners, since then we've dropped back and seem to be insistent on hitting them on the counter but we haven't countered once, we're much better just keeping the ball.

Even Half imo.

2-0 is harsh on Newcastle.

that's bollocks. If anything the score flatters them. Especially since Welbz missed an open goal and the other chances we've got. Newcastle evened the game up in midfield but that's about it. They didn't have a clear cut chance this half.

Brilliant opening 25 mins from us and probably the best we've played this season! We need to get a 3rd though because I can see Newcastle getting one.

And how on earth did Howard Redd now send Tiote off?! Shocking decision.

Well our game is still worthy of improving but ti's very promising to see that something in our overall game philosophy is changing.

May take a while before we see our team at it's best and before all of our old habits have been thrown out but we are getting there I feel.

Another 20 minutes like the first 20 minutes would be nice now to start the second half.

Oh and SAF needs to kick their asses for slacking off like that after the second goal, he has to get this attitude out of the mind of our players as fast as possible.

I'd move Shinji more through the middle. Struggling out wide.
