Newcastle United v Manchester United

Welbz has lost the confidence he had last season. Doesn't know what to do when he has the ball.

He's had a stinker this half. Cleverley not overly impressive either. DDG flapping at the back.

Positives: two goals from corners. Great first 20mins of football. Rooney.

Great start to the game , but sat back admiring our work , still 2-0 at halftime should be enough to come away with a result.

More dour football from us. We did manage 10 minutes of stringing more than 2 passes together though so I suppose that's a positive step forward!

Cmon now. The first 20 odd mins were much better than just 2 passes together. We were all over them. They have come back into the game but its to be expected. the 2nd half should be better.

People are being idiots today.

What the feck?

that's bollocks. If anything the score flatters them. Especially since Welbz missed an open goal and the other chances we've got. Newcastle evened the game up in midfield but that's about it. They didn't have a clear cut chance this half.

Check his tagline.

Not really, he was late but he tried to pull out and was one footed. Yellow is fair.

Yellow is fine, yeah. But considering how late he was it's one of those orange cards I think, which is why I said "borderline red" and not "definite red". If Kagawa hadn't jumped it could easily have looked a lot worse.

The first 15 minutes were awesome. Since then...

I don't really understand why we're just hoofing it. We're trying to bypass our own, packed midfield... We need to keep the ball better, need to be a bit more patient, hold on to it. This "route one" stuff doesn't suit the line-up at all.

Agree with that.

His touch specially inside the penalty box is shocking

Which is shocking in itself because everywhere else his touch and ability on the ball is great, it's mental at the moment. He's got terrific players in RVP and Rooney to learn from, he'll be phenomenal forward eventually.

I think maybe Kagawa and Clevz should change positions. Doesn't look that comfortable on the right.

I'd sub Kagawa off after 60th Minute and Give Tony a go. Shane Ferguson doesn't look that great so far.

Rooney's been amazing, Tiote is a dirty twat.

The first 15 minutes was fantastic, and overall a great first half. Rooney, RvP, Kagawa, Cleverley, Carrick all impressive.

We started off as well as I've ever seen us, got 2 goals and then we seemed to sit back a bit. We look strangely threatening on corners though for some reason.

Impressed with our defending so far.

First 20 mins we were awesome but then Newcastle turned and we couldn't do shit. Even half and thank god we scored from the corner.

Welbeck has been awful. Kagawa too looks out of sorts. Ddg is DDg againImo trying too hard to impress on high balls.

Other wise everyone has been decent but still find it hard when the other team starts pressing.

Playing Kagawa as a right winger is brutal IMO.Completely wasting him there

Spot on. Don't know what the thinking behind that is. Get him on the inside left or through the middle.

I'd move Shinji more through the middle. Struggling out wide.

Rooney, Kagawa, RvP and Welbeck are pretty much interchanging positions all the time and I think it's a good thing.

Kagawa has to get into the positions he is best at by himself, there are no static positions in our attack, so it's in part his own responsibility to position himself in the right way.

I'd rather see this in the second half:

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Valencia Rooney Kagawa
van Persie

Probably as soon as possible, but taking Danny off at half-time would hurt his confidence even more - so I'd give it 10-15 minutes. Expect Scholes to get on at some stage too, probably for Kagawa and have a front three of Toni / RvP / Wayne.

Good performance so far though, both offensively for 20 minutes and defensively for the other 25. One more goal will clinch it but I still fancy Newcastle to pop up with a goal at some stage.

This, especially as he's playing wide right at the moment.
Take Welbeck off, put Rooney behind RVP and Kagawa at the tip of the diamond.

We're 2-0 up away at a place we got slapped last season and we ain't kept a clean sheet in the league this year. Is it any wonder we're sitting back? I'd be perfectly happy to see us negative our way to a 2-0 win.

Newcastle are such a long ball team, don't think I've noticed that before.

Bring Tony V on for Welbeck after 15 mins and put Kagawa on the left.

Great performance in that opening 20 odd minutes, good possession and we scored from corners  Hopefully we can start this half the same and I'd like to see Valencia on too sometime and how good was Rooney, magnificent display.

I thought he looked quite comfortable out wide. Had one lovely link up with Rafael that particularly stood out. I'd be happy to see him moved out to the left though, so we could bring on Valencia for Welbeck. Can't fault Danny's workrate and effort, but its just not happening for him today.

Webb has collapsed under the home fans pressure. Some yellows for sone of our players for their first foul, whereas dirty Tiote was allowed a couple of thug fouls. Ferguson also doesn't get a yrllow for taking out Kagawa during our counter attack. The players better watch it, he is itching to give a red in this game.
