Newcastle United v Manchester United

I didn't say we don't deserve the lead.Of course we deserve the lead. We scored 2 very good headers.
We have played well here but when they started pressing we did find it a bit difficult

Break was needed. Great start but we need to calm down now. I think we're partly suffering due to lack of variance in our play atm. We don't really have anyone in attack/midfield who can beat a man and so we're reliant in passing and with Newcastle changing to a tighter formation they're pressing us a lot better and forcing quicker, tougher passing. But still a good start with plenty of potential.

Hopefully someone is calming down rvp. It's great that he's enthusiastic to help out but he's doing some proper strikers challenges. If they keep the pressure on an with the crowd rvp could get in to trouble. Less worried about kagawa.

Newcastle are such a long ball team, don't think I've noticed that before.

How haven't you?

They are one of the most direct teams in the league. Did they not score against us last season from pretty much a goal kick?

Probably the most encouraging performance of the season so far. Tested by a pretty decent newcastle side and so far we've been resolute and dominant (at least for the first 25 minutes).

Im still in shock that we scored off two corners. Especially the one by Pat!!! He hasn't had one in 2 years. Whatever our formation is today (can't even begin to figure it out), we are playing with so much more energy and urgency. Tom Cleverley and Wayne Rooney are closing people down like madmen and thats really helped us in our defending and disrupting their midfield.

We had some good passages of play at the start and Rafael is starting to really become a major threat on that right hand side. Now if only he can improve on his positional sense in defence he would be the perfect fullback.

The only real gripes to have are that Kagawa seems a bit wasted on the right flank. Not his best position but he is doing a decent job. Had a really nice backheel flick into the path of Rafael on one posession.

Danny Welbeck also looks a bit off the pace. Just a step slow in his decision making and really could have got a goal from the Rooney throughball had he been a bit more clinical with his first touch.

Other than that this is a fantastic scoreline for us and I'd be happy if the match ended now! It will be interesting to see if we can keep a clean sheet in this one though. I think more likely than not our strategy will be to defend and hit them on the counter. So I don't expect us to be having too much possession in the second half.

came out pressuring and it got us two goals. since the second goal there's been a lot less pressure but it's still there. can't give up on it. if anything increase it to limit nc's chances. cisse is very dangerous.

Hilarious that pundits are saying that Newcastle should've gotten a penalty on the Evra-incident. That happens in litteraly every single game, but strangely noone ever bothers to put that in their highlight-reel.

We're 2-0 up away at a place we got slapped last season and we ain't kept a clean sheet in the league this year. Is it any wonder we're sitting back? I'd be perfectly happy to see us negative our way to a 2-0 win.

Yep, this! Very pleased with the first half, no complaints.

We need to keep pressing in the second half. Seem to take a foot off the pedal after taking the two goals lead. Welbeck missing sitter again. Could have stayed down cos he wa impeded by Harper. Cant wait for the second half

Webb has collapsed under the home fans pressure. Some yellows for sone of our players for their first foul, whereas dirty Tiote was allowed a couple of thug fouls. Ferguson also doesn't get a yrllow for taking out Kagawa during our counter attack. The players better watch it, he is itching to give a red in this game.

I don't get this. If the tackle is poor enough, then it doesn't matter if it's your first foul. Rio went in late on Ba, and RVP's challenge was a bit wild... both deserved bookings. Tiote got away with a few, but was booked eventually, so that's sorted itself out.

Jonas got booked for his first tackle as well I think... but it was fully deserved as it was a terrible tackle.

They also should have noted that had Welbeck gone down at Harper's spastic moment, it would have been a stonewall penalty and a red card.

25 is definitely overdoing it. i was watching from 18 and we were quite crap in possession.

Cleverley's role today seems to be going massively undetrated. He's been quality. Linking the midfield to attack in a way we just can't do with scholes and carrick together.

Well we were all expecting a hard game. And apart from the 1st 20 mins it has been tough.

Thank shite we have those 2 goals though.

If we see this through it will be a magnificant result. They only lost at home once in the past year or so.

It would be a lot safer if we kept the ball better. The dominance of the first 15 minutes were surreal, you can't keep up that sort of superiority at a team like Newcastle but we should keep the ball better than we did in the second portion of the first half.

liverpool 0-0 stoke

and it wasnt at the britannia stadium on a cold tuesday night

Usually, referees allow for one warning and then book the player if it's a bookable offence. Webb has been splashing out yellows for fun today, consider the Kagawa yellow, absolutely nothing worthy of a yellow card in that tackle.

He has been a little card happy at times against us. Hopefully we don't get anymore cards in the second half and he starts giving cards out to newcastles. A few times they were lucky that we played advantage for a couple of dodgy tackles that deserved a yellow.

Well lets not argue about the semantics :) It was a very good start to the match at a place that has proven difficult for us in the past. You really can't ask for anymore.

The main thing though is the energy levels are definately very high today and we are pressuring the ball and defending as a unit. I think in the second half we will fashion at least a few chances on the counter, which hopefully will fall to RVP because Danny has been a bit wasteful!

That was embarrassing IMO, showing the referees position too. Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

By the letter of the law, but generally refs give a bit of leeway for the first offence - if it's only yellowish that is, not ones like Guttierez's.

Please I don't want to see Welbeck in the 2nd half... Anyone but Welbeck

Yeah if you look at the evra goal Evans is clearly being held back.
