Newcastle United v Manchester United

Surprising - Cabaye, Tiote, Cisse all starting tonight for Newcastle. No Colocinni or Krul.

A Geordie had the nerve to moan about Howard Webb's appointment as ref for the match. It's rich considering they've benefitted from more dodgy decisions than anyone to put them where they are. They were still getting them last weekend while we were getting screwed over. The latest one was so blatant that Ba had to admit to it. They'll most likely get them AGAIN against us and still there'll be a Geordie repeating the same United bias BS.

I didn't realize that Newcastle had a Europa league game. This just got a bit easier.

Tiote went off injured, innocuous one as well which are usually the worst. If he's not able to play on Sunday I think our midfield will perform better as he's the type who would rush us. They only have their second and fourth choice keepers fit IIRC too, but Harper is experienced so I don't think that will make too much difference.. If he somehow got injured though that'd be so unfortunate for Newcastle (but at least the internationals give some breathing space after this game).

SAF has said that Carrick, Scholes, and Giggs are the additions to the squad we took to Cluj - Evans is fine. There was no mention of Valencia though, so I'm not sure what his situation is. Probably looking at:

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Kagawa Rooney
van Persie

Bench will probably include Welbeck, Hernandez, Giggs, Cleverley, and Wootton. Last spot out of Anderson, Fletcher, Powell, Buttner, or Valencia if fit.

Nani----------Rooney

- Scholes to come on in the second if we're struggling to hold on to the ball

Pardew has said that Krul, Taylor and Coloccini will all be out for this. Which means Perch and Williamson at CB with Harper in goal :nervous:

We're also down another keeper in Elliot, so 19 year old Jak Alnwick will be on the bench. I went to school with him.

Mind games? Or do you think it's true?

I'm fearing for both teams' defenses to be honest. Pardew pretty much sent the League Cup team out to 'hoof it to the big man' for literally 30 minutes. That approach is far from elegant, but will work wonders against our makeshift/broken/ancient defense.

Could be a seriously high scoring affair if it's true about your defense. Anyword on Tiote?

Tiote started in Europe for them.. so he should be fit.

High balls will be launched to Ba and Cisse. I hope Rio, Evans and Carrick can deal with it.

Wonder if Fergie would put Powell in a midfield 3 purely for his height...he's a big lad.

We struggled in the first game with long balls to felliani not because of the CB's but because he was able to chest it down and play others in due to the midfield not closing on him. If carrick can close down/double quickly then They should turn possession over hopefully

Won't be easy but perhaps we an draw on the everton game for some pointers

Ba and Cisse only need a half chance to score.

Kinda concerned about this game.

What's the deal with Tiote?

Fit or not?

I feel better knowing that even if he is fit he hasn't had a good run of games recently. He is a beast. Just the kind of player we have trouble with

We can't be very happy with how we've played them the last two years in the league, home and away, so I hope SAF comes up with something special for this one.

that's a bit better than I thought.

Anyway, tomorrer: 4-4

They'll play direct and we won't cope.

United loss, I'm afraid.

Not confident in the side at all at the moment.

I'd take a point without hesitation. A win would be a very pleasant surprise.

what I expect to see:

although to be honest a part of me thinks Giggs will start for some reason, hope I'm wrong though.

I'm hoping for

De Gea

Rafael Rio Evans Evra

Carrick Anderson
Nani Rooney Kagawa
RVP

I can imagine though that Scholes will play, probs at the expense of either Nani or Kagawa, reckon Ando or Clev are due to start this one.

Anderson is a must for this, as is Giggs being no where near the starting XI. We really really cannot afford to have a pedestrian in midfield for this one as they will be direct and press hard.

After the Spurs loss at home, we "have" to win this one.

We are already falling behind Chelsea and City.

With the form we're in and considering that we lost this fixture 3-0 last season I'd say a draw would be a damn fine result. You also have to take into account that we'll probably play our usual static, vulnerable, slow, old midfield.

This. Can't see it, though.
