Newcastle United v Manchester United

Back five, you mean. Is Santon the only first choice (if he is) back there? (Is Simpson no longer first choice?)

When Eurosport is right then I'm glad about our front 4 but still not totally happy, as Scholes and Carrick are starting.

DDG starting according to MUTV. hope they're right.

Playing better with Scholes should not be a reason for not including either Cleverley or Anderson ahead of him.

Surely that should be the main reason for including Scholes?

If that team selection is right the front line up looks great but scholes and carrick will slow the play up significantly and will provide little physical opposition.

MUTV:

De Gea
Rafael
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra
Carrick
Cleverley
Welbeck
Rooney
Kagawa
Van Persie

4231

Subs, Lindegaard, Scholes, Valencia, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Wooton

Team: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Welbeck, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa, Rooney, van Persie

4-3-3 by the looks of it

starting lineup:

DDG

Rafael
Rio
Evans
Evra

Welbeck
Carrick
Cleverley
Kagawa

Rooney
RVP

United line up; De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Welbeck, Rooney, Kagawa, Van Persi

DE BEARD!

No genuine winger though.

If that team selection is right the front line up looks great but scholes and carrick will slow the play up significantly and will provide little physical opposition.

I'd be inclined to agree, but if we do have Nani, Kag and Rooney, I reckon the midfield would have enough support. As would RVP.

It'll make for very interesting viewing. I imagine that on paper, that is many people's strongest front four.

Subs, Lindegaard, Scholes, Valencia, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Wooton

I take it that it's the same setup as against Cluj but Welbeck replaces Hernandez.

Why not put nani on the wing instead of welbeck? Good lineup apart from that though, finally de gea starts.

Edit: Nani must be injured then I'm guessing, no other reason for him not to be involved at all. At least Valencia's back :)

Carrick and Cleverley behind Rooney behind RVP and Welbeck. That is lovely.

Probably Welbeck on the wings though.

We can expect Newcastle to ping lots of crosses in all game long.

Delighted to see Cleverley, Kagawa, Rooney and RVP play together. Would've preferred to see Nani play as I don't think Welbeck is a winger.

DDG starting is what should happen every game.

Edit: seen the bench no Nani?

Good looking team that! Could be some good passing today with that XI!
