Neymar Jr | PSG | 2017/2018 performances

You're an idiot then I'm sorry

Horrible comparison but wouldn't Neymar be the woman who falsely claims rape in this scenario?

Good to see no over the top things being said in this thread.

What the feck...

I hate the rape metaphors. There are hundred of other metaphors we could use. My colleague used to say "X team was raped by Y" whenever there was a big result. I hated it.

There are people here and elsewhere (like the crook Christophe Dugarry) suggesting that Neymar deserves to be hurt and injured because of his attitude.

I find it unhealthy and disproportionate. In this context, my metaphor makes sense.

Playacting is a natural thing for South Europeans and Americans. It's a cultural thing. Like many other footballers Neymar is not particularly bright but he wouldn't do it if it were as unacceptable in Brazil/Spain as it is in England or Germany.

His behaviour makes him look like a tool but one can't deny his work rate. Unlike Messi, he is putting a shift in every single game. His work rate is far better than Messi's. And he doesn't shy away from taking responsibility in difficult moments. There is a reason why Madrid are willing to break the bank for him.

Neymar got absolutely tonked in last WC. Probably was one of the most fouled player. He is simply making it difficult for the people to do the same in this WC.
Yes, he is obviously faking it, but wishing injury on him is ridiculous. Not surprising though. Brazil haters, Barca fans, oil money haters, apart from the theatrics, the list of things Neymar is associated with is too long.

I wonder what was the bigger crime. The guy stepping on Neymar for no reason when he is off the pitch or Neymars reaction?

Reason I am asking is, everybody is angered by Neymars reaction but the actual thing that provoked the reaction is being overlooked as if it was justified. On BBC last night, the difference between Klinsman and Sheerers reactions to that incident was amazing. Sheerer was just angry at Neymar and refuses to even discuss the other guys role in the incident.

People are hating him on a very strange level. The Schmeischel quote was particularly weird "FIFA has to look into suspending him". Honestly, if you are him what are you supposed to do today? He was clearly behaving better this game, you couldn't find one dive and then the guy stamps on him. What is he supposed to do? The idiocy of Mexican defender isn't pointed out though, only his reaction. Neymar just can't win.

At the last World Cup, people hit him so hard and often he ended up with a broken back. Don't condone diving but if the referees are not going to protect him, then he has to find a way to stop players persistently fouling him.

Now, a defender would think twice about being cheeky with Neymar because you know he will make any sort of contact obvious. That moment's hesitation may even allow Neymar the time to fire off a shot or two where he would otherwise be fouled. It's all gamesmanship.

The state of this thread, Neymar is irritating nothing more. There are people in your neighborhood that are criminals and that beat their spouses and children among other things. As far as I know Neymar is none of these things.

Good posts

With Neymar the 'most fouled player' stat is simply skewed. He's constantly doing this thing where he'll stand with the ball, seemingly shield it when he can easily pass it to just anybody and move the whole thing forward but instead he'll wait for somebody to come close to him and drop at the earliest convenience, that's why so many people, myself included, dislike him. He doesn't really care about 'the beauty of football', all he cares about is the highlights of him and being talked about, even if it's playing the victim.

Layun stepped on him intentionally I'm pretty sure, his antics though, the anti-sportsmanship (because it is exactly that), the diving, I'm not overly surprised that he's getting those stamps, pushes, fouls, not because he's so good that he can escape everybody and everybody have to resort to a foul, it's because he's a cnut and other players simply dislike him.

If truth be told, your reasoning is perverse.

A player like Van Basten was very classy but has been destroyed by the unethical opposing defenders...

He is 'the beauty of football' FYI

Your metaphor was over the top, it was as crazy as the poster who suggested that Neymar is "the package of everything to hate in a human being". Seriously, what the hell is wrong with some of you, turning something as trivial as Neymar into this sort of drama is as ridiculous as Neymar play acting.

I think you miss the point but never mind

Neymar is a special case as a player in terms of the response he generates from fans and opponents. He's not just a singular talent, blessed with a pile of attributes. He is charismatic, rich, already hugely succcessful, good looking, an icon to millions. But not only does he engage in histrionics far beyond most players, but he also likes to get in people's faces, wind up opponents, take the piss out of beaten teams, etc. If you were a centre back in the 87th minute, and he tried to flick the ball over your head with a smirk, you could probably see yourself hitting him with a spinebuster.

If he cut out the excessive playacting, most of this would go away. At the top level, pretty much all players objectively will do some level of milking fouls. But you don't need to scream and flip over like you are being tazed.

Just amused at the length some PSG supporters go to defend their player. From a terrible metaphor to imagining a lot of things. It is funny

I think these PSG supporters are amused by your dedication to Neymar :)

He had to because he was voted player of the year too but I agree with you, he shouldn't have been in this 11 and he shouldn't won the award too.

I learn that Neymar hasn't the required level to be part of the best 11 of the French league...

A lot of people have irrationnal hatred. Not healthy at all

Like I said, I see a cheat and I talk about it. No hatred about it, Neymar is and has always been a cheat. You cannot deny that and no amount of you portraying me as a hater will change that Kylian tries to emulate him in all (good and bad )aspects now.

OK but let's compare with 99% of your other posts :)

Currently playing I'd say Neymar, Henderson, Ramos, Alli, Diego Costa, David Luiz

It's what you wrote in the 'Most hated players thread'

I don't think there is a footballer I despise more than Neymar. More than Suarez, Ramos,Pepe

It's about time he grows up. I mean wtf , Neymar who used to have stupid haircuts, has gotten much wiser with time.

feck off Neymar. Entitled fecking prick

Neymar can feck off

Neymar is trash. A real clown

feck you Neymar. fecking prick

Same really. He is a bitch

There are other similar posts I have't quoted but you understand what I mean ;)

I will come back in this thread after Brazil-Belgium

No matter how many posts I dedicate to him, you won't see me come up with a dumb ass metaphor like yours. One the most stupid thing I have ever read on this board.
He is a great player with a shitty attitude.

The metaphor is easy to understand: it's not because somebody is so-called 'provocative' in his attitude that he deserves to be assaulted.

There are always people who use a false pretence to justify bad actions.

Very stupid idea indeed :)
There are about a hundred different things you could have chosen, defo not something as serious as rape. If it doesn't bother you then something is wrong you

Hmmm yeeeeeah.. Maybe I'm a cynical bastard, but I happen to think there was definitely intent there. Maybe not to put him out of the whole World Cup, but certainly to put him out of the game. Neymar in an ambulance >> Neymar on the pitch you get what I mean? Let's also not forget he just got back from a real metatarsal injury, so maybe he really doesn't fancy putting up with foul play at the moment.

I agree that he needs to stop the theatrics cause it looks ridiculous, but the persistent fouling and targeting of him also needs to stop. It's a two way thing. Persisent fouling isn't a 'smart gameplan', it's flagrant cheating.

I honestly think our disagreement stems from this right here. I think it may be a case of you being rather cynical and me wanting to give people the benefit of the doubt more than I should.

I also hope you're not insinuating that I ever suggested persistent fouling was a smart gameplan. I'm not for foul play or cheating of any kind - whether that's trying to literally kick a player out of the game or trying to game the referee by flopping anytime the wind blows in your ear.

There are so many things wrong with your initial comparison. Rather than trying to walk it back and be snarky about it, you should have just owned your screwup and stated what you did here (bolded). There's no shame in owning our mistakes when we make them.

I doubt cutting out the play acting will resolve the issue of him being fouled a lot. He gets fouled a lot because he dribbles a lot. Messi gets the same thing but he has a calmer personality.

A part of me wishes England had a player of his quality and temperament. I wonder how the public would react to him being hacked all game. I have a funny feeling they will end up not minding it.

I'd love to see Lineker, Shearer etc's reaction on Henderson grabbing his face when Barrios touched his chest with his head.

Players trying to gain advantages/ point out situations to ref, what a surprise. Except Neymar got much more heat.

He must feel a least a little bit embarrassed when he dives and everyone knows exactly what he's just done

To paraphrase Trotsky - Every man has a right to be stupid but comrade Neymar abuses the privilege.

Won’t ever win the Balon D’or.

Fire away...

Edit: Unless he moves to Madrid

Is he thick ?

How can he ask for VAR after each clear dive. does he think that the VAR ref is blind ? i don't get his reactions.

Bottled it. Should have been the main star today. Instead he lost.

This was supposed to be the Neymar World Cup, disappointment of the tournament for me

Can’t stand him, good riddance.

It feels as if we always have to have a Brazilian WC superstar to big up and they’re pushing Neymar and he’s just not up to that level.
