Norwich City vs. Manchester United

Nothing wrong with playing wingers, but Valencia and Young aren't even beating their full backs. The pair of them are in very poor form. Maybe Fergie is letting them play through it but it does look like we haven't got a plan B if things don't go well.

Of course there's nothing wrong with playing wingers. But when you're entirely reliant on them and your entire attacking plan is "play it out to them at the first chance" then it's both a crap, and a corrosive attitude to be stuck in.

We've been playing like this all season. Whenever we play two of Carrick, Giggs or Scholes.

We've been saying it all season.

Everyone's been saying it all season.

We STILL keep doing it.

It's baffling.

And Plech's one man sentimental positive outlook group isn't enough to make it suddenly brilliant.

Beautiful Giggsy

Stop it!

I think the plan is to put Norwich to sleep and then strike with a ball over the top to Hernandez.

I wish we could just play Arsenal every week. Life would be so much easier.

Exactly!

I'm the first to say we shouldn't play G or S in a midfield 2. Well, not the first, but one of the top six or eight hundred thousand.

Still, it remains true that Giggsy's created our best chance, out of nothing. As Scholes did last week.

I want this when possible.

RVP
Kagawa Rooney Nani

Stop this fannying.

Looks like a bottom half contest where no one wants to lose.

RVP playing the Rooney role in the midfield. Terrible.

Obligatory poor first half over with. SAF will persist for 10-20 more minutes and then make some changes, hoping we score a goal from set pieces mean while.

RVP still not quite bedded in IMO, been a few occassions when Uited players have been expecting him to link-up and he's span off instead.

Boring half. Too comfortable for Norwich who have looked dangerous going forward.

Valencia has been very poor, Young has not been much better.

Unlikely to happen but I'd like Ando on at HT, although Giggs-Carrick have not done too bad.

It really would help if one of average winger could create space/deliver a decent ball.
Giggs has been fine, Carrick has been fine, the CM duo has been but on the wings we're dead.So average there it's unreal

Not a good half.

He's made a change at half time a few times this season and not always because of injury. We might be surprised again today.

Extremely poor first half.

Slow in the midfield, in terms of effort and creativity. Giggs, partly to blame for this.

Valencia slowing the game down again and again. Young, simply poor.

Pathetic stuff. I suspect Giggs or Valencia will be switched for others in the 2nd half.

Where is rooney?

Wingers have been slow. Quite annoying how Valencia and Young never can seem to beat a fullback anymore. Poor deliveries too. How long are we going to bench Nani for?

It does seem like we are controlling the match a bit better though. Some half chances for norwich but they are really sitting back and trying to hit us on the counter. It will take a piece of luck or magic to break them down.

Maybe Fergie has some revolutionary Barcelona-esque vision of football except with the football being focused on wideplay rather than tiki-taka. Like developing a form of wideplay that is unplayable. Which sounds cool to me but can it work without any intention of giving a feck about passing the ball through the middle?

Well at least I hope there's some vision like that because watching it is an utter fecking bore.

Really bad display generaly, only Rafael and RvP stood out this half.

I agree with this.:)

Yes.

Stale. Valencia has been particularly ineffective he's barely beaten Garrido and when he has his crossing has been terrible. It seemed to take us about 40 minutes to realise that going wide every time we attack was getting us nowhere and then Giggs clipped a pass over the top to Van Persie that he really should've scored. However you have to feel for Robin and Chico because they've been feeding off of scraps.
