Our Rivals Squad next year - Arsenal

Criminal how arsenal wont buy a striker. they would probably win the league if they got some genuine quality upfront, and their squad stayed fit.

Cavani
Cazorla Ozil Sanchez
Ramsey Wilshere
Gibbs Chambers Konscielny Debuchy
Shesney

If they manage to sign Cavani.

Remove Cazorla for Walcott, place Sanchez on the left and you will have a cracking team. Anyway the Cavani rumour is from an unreliable source so no idea what's going to happen next.

Well I'm happy to trust Wenger to know what's needed rather than some internet herbert.

Do me a favour and stop replying to me. I think you're an utter numpty and I don't want to get into any trouble by calling you any worse names.

Guess no one wants to see you go off the boil if that's you being casual then...

No one's declaring Sanchez shit. That would be stupid after two games.

I declare Ozil to be absolutely useless though.

They looked shit today. Not enough penetration up front or out wide, they're also soft in defence and defensive midfield. For all the money spent, still a flimsy side.

I think they also are an unbalanced side.

I think they would benefit from another number 9 and from better defenders.

They have the manager and the financial power therefore it's just a matter of getting the balance in the squad right. I am sure this will occur however due to the expected competitive nature of this season it would be wise to address some issues before the window closes.

The problem is I cannot think of who is available that would benefit them.

Sanchez ain't a striker. And that's not me being reactionary, he's just not a lone striker. Never will be.

Arsenal haven't majorly strengthened. Sánchez is a very good signing and will add pace and directness which is good, but the other signings are all like for like replacements. It was very clear last year that they needed a defensive midfielder and a striker. They've got neither. If they don't get them before the end of the transfer window then I can't see them winning the PL.

I think Arsenal fans have been fooled into this belief that this was a great summer for them, when in actual fact they've signed replacements (except Sánchez) who aren't going to make a huge difference in them winning the PL. When they come under pressure during the season Wenger will be slaughtered for not signing a striker and defensive midfielder.

The transfer window isn't over yet. Hold your Hippogriffs, doommongers.

Debuchy was just too far forward on the right yesterday for my liking. I suppose better sides would exploit that. Before the game I would have taken a draw happily. We got a point at a tough away game and showed the spirit to claw back from 0-2. On to Besiktas.

There are plenty of reports here in Portugal that Wenger is just waiting for Champions League qualification to move for Carvalho. Getting worried because the rumours have been insistent in the past week.

Ozil actually saw a lot of the ball, was probably our best midfielder.

I would urge you to re-watch the match and focus on his touches. Apart from two really good through balls, he slowed the play down and went nowhere.

Ozil having touched the ball the most in your team, yet creating diddly for 80 minutes tells you all you need to know about his touches.

As an analogy, did you know when Joe Allen plays for 90 minutes he is the guy on our team who touches the ball the most?

Also his first game of football since the world cup final.

No pre season either.

He will be fine this season. Bring in a few more players to strengthen the team and see where that takes us.

Fair enough, seems like he needed movement from the rest of his players but they weren't on top of their games because of the tough midweek away trip.

Basically, I was expecting more from a £42m player.

Just as much as I'll expect more from our own £20m+ players.

Do you lot think we'll do any business before the window shuts?

The links to players have absolutely dried up recently.

Put it this way, we need 3 players in my book (CB, Midfield and Striker).

We probably won't do any more business until after the CL qualifier. Then its 3 days until we play Leicester and then Monday is the last day of the window.

So basically 4 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday) to sign 3 players. Hopefully Wenger has another Ozil style surprise in store. Despite signing a new contract I can still see Benzema leaving Real Madrid if they get Falcao in, its just a feeling and Wenger has always admired him.

I don't necessarily disagree with you in that I don't think he played really well, but he was involved and was probing. He didn't have a lot going on in front of him and tended to look wide, which was ultimately where both our goals came from. In a game where Ramsey, Wilshere and Flamini were often close to abject he did fine, and certainly wasn't 'invisible' which is the Caf's favourite buzzword for him.

Forget the striker this season. We'll make do with what we have. Poldi's going mostly and a CB is coming in. Not too optimistic about any other players coming in.
