when are we playing some cannon fodder? would love to see Pogba along side Morrison or Tom
when are we playing some cannon fodder?
we already played Arsenal
Vieira was a very silky player too.I agree with Mujac - Viera was tough, hard-tackling, competitive midfielder with skills. Pogba is an extremely skilled footballer with a ferocious strike. The only thing they have in common is that they are both tall, french midfielders with roots in Africa.
Vieira was best without the ball - Pogba is much better with the ball

He was great with the ball, he was no sitter, he had great ability.
Think he'll be limited to just a few games this season.
Leeds is an exciting CC game but a game at OT would have been better for the young players. Not convinced SAF will throw Pogba in at Bellend road.

Its a mix of both...talent and attitude
This applies to the Tunnicliffe debate...his attitude is unquestionable but does he have the required technique?
I was specifically referring to Morrison...I don't think anyone else in the Reserves is first team material 'right now'....but if he could get his head straight then he would be with first team in my opinion.
Yeah, Im not convinced either. I'm sure he'll be on the bench and we'll start with a fairly strong/ comparatively experienced team with players who need a game. Probably SAF will have the FA cup tie with them in mind, and will "pay them respect".
On Morrison Vs Pogba, Mr Mujac's assessment is accurate. They are both fantastic talents with different strengths (although, I think Morrison is not far behind Pogba in passing technique at all).
I just think Morrison has the X-factor, he could be as good as he wants to be if he put his mind to it.. Just two questions, will he get is head right? and where will he end up playing? Get the feeling he will start as a wide player to protect him a bit more physically but he could be a great no 10. or central midfielder in the end.
But anyway.. this is a thread about Pogba.. I think he could be definitely do a job this year being blooded slowly. Only real issues I have with him is that he drifts through large parts games and at times seems to allow other players to take charge. (Although Chelsea away in the FA youth cup, he did take control of the game in the second half while Morrison was suspended)
I'd like to see him impose himself on games more often.
The x factor is hard to define but there are plenty of talented players out there. I'm not into the, he's better then him business because we're not describing the same type of players. What is pleasing is we have strength at youth in midfield and we have a real mixture of talent. Sometimes players can be hard to define, but Morrison, Pogba and Tunnicliffe have a clear definition.
You know what they bring. When they'll play and how much only time will tell. I'm sure there will be a little experience in with youth in the carling cup. I LOVE morrison as a central midfielder because he's deceptive. You want him on the ball a lot and in that position he could cause problems
As for Pogba taking charge of games, it's very difficult. While i'm sure the players look to Pogba, they're confident to not be pressure into always playing to him because we have other talented players and everyone wants to express themselves. So one week it might be Pogba another it might be Morrison or Cole or whoever...that stands out more
I think that when he does have the ball, he's quality and there's not really much of a problem. People say Morrison goes through quiet patches and then explodes but when it's Pogba, it's an issue. I'm not sure it is. These players can have quiet moments, but still produce a moment of quality that wins you the game
Interesting he mentioned Zeki Fryers.
He didnt mention Tunnicliffe either, but happy to hear that Pogba is getting closer to the 1st team
I'll hold me hands up here... I know nothing about this kid, can you give me a basic low-down?
What's happened to Morrison?
He might be a wrongun but youth team football was blatantly too easy for him last year. He seems to no longer exist though.

He is a left back. Good size, physically he has no problems. Think he used to be in the England youth teams a few years ago. Seems to have slipped back in the past year or two. Think he is 19 or 20, certainly too old for the youth team.
Think he has also played CB in a couple of reserve friendlies this season.
Been injured a lot over the past season or two. I think this has delayed his development. I don't think any of the injuries were major though.

He turns 19 tomorrow, he missed pretty much an entire year with injury and is just returning (broken leg I believe EDIT - cruciate then, thanks datura).
Good stuff to hear about Pogba though, looking forward to seeing his first 35 yarder fly in for the club.
Our Carling Cup team this year is going to be absolutely mouth-watering.
He's only just started playing in the reserves. He may be a great talent but, even to play in Cup games he'll need to be head and shoulders above everyone else. Perhaps he's starting to show that and maybe that's why the boss says he'll figure but, I don't think we need to rush giving 1st team games just so he feels he has a future. Don't think we have to worry too much about signing him to a long term contract if he indeed will be as immense so far his talents have shown.
