I've never really understood the rumors with regards to Juventus signing Pogba. Surely we would use the clause to extend the contract by a year if he refuses to extend it with us to force Juventus to pay up rather than letting him sign for Juventus for a nominal compensation.
I said about this earlier in the thread.
1. It's unclear whether we can actually activate the clause. It seems we put it in every contract but being a contract signed when he was 16 it might not be legal to activate it.
2. What message would that send out to potential young signings. The whole Ronaldo slavery thing was laughable but this isn't far off it if we did that. Activating a year clause so he could rot in our reserves? Classy. Certainly not the United way.
Regarding Juve though his agent, Raiola, does seem to have strong links there and has done business recently so it's possible that he has been using them all along as a way of pumping up this contract and they have kept quiet (not denied it) for him. I haven't seen Juve actually come out and say they are trying to sign him anyway, I might be wrong.
