Wonder what the odds are on both Pogba and Daehli making a return to United at some point in the future?

Any time this thread is bumped I just get annoyed. I just can't get over the fact we let him go and never played him. What on earth was Fergie thinking? We did so well to snag him at a young age but letting him like we did has to be one of the biggest mistakes we've made. He was exactly what we needed and still need now.

Of course there was a choice, and if I'm not mistaken, also a promise of more play time and improved contract.

He just got his feelings hurt for not playing in one game and left. Add an eager agent, and that's that.

To be fair it was probably down to more than that game. He didn't get a lot of playing time over the season, and have a winger and full back picked ahead of him was probably the last straw in a way.

Suppose it's easy to look back on it in hindsight and say he should've gotten more time, although he really should have that season. Even if his reserve performances weren't all that impressive, it's clear he was an obvious talent and would've been obvious to Fergie and co when we signed him. Although like I say, easy with hindsight.

I don't think he would be doing anywhere near as well here as he is at Juventus if he had stayed. It's a lot easier to look good in a three man midfield with Pirlo/Vidal/Marchisio than it is to look good in a two man midfield with one of our centre midfield options. Does he play in a two man or three man midfield with France?

From what I can see, it's usually a three man midfield. Him and Cabaye/Matuidi as the CMs, and then Nasri pushing further forward as an attacking CM. Although I did see one formation that had him, Cabaye and Matuidi all together.

Are we really going to go through the same cycle again in this thread for the 1000000000th time? Can't we all just get over it yet?

That surprises me a little bit actually as I didn't think his defensive game would be good enough right now to play as one of the two further back with a player like Nasri as the most attacking midfielder. I would have expected more of the latter trio with Nasri and Ribery on the wings. I suspect it could be like that at the World Cup now with someone in place of Nasri, maybe Griezmann.

He's just so good it brings back the pain every time I see him do something outstanding. It doesn't help that he's obviously still bitter about how it all happened and keeps talking about the way we treated him.

While on the subject Mats has more ability in his little toe than Ashley Young has, why was he never given a shot with us?

Yeah there's really no point everyone going on every time he does something awesome cos it's not going to change anything, it just brings back how frustrating the whole thing was with him leaving really. It's completely made worse at the moment given how weak our midfield is and the fact he would have been absolutely perfect for us had he stayed as he seems a really special player.

Unfortunately letting him go and not managing him properly could well prove to be one of Fergies biggest cock ups but we all know how influenced he was by his agent at the time so it happens I guess. It will be a lot easier for everyone when we finally buy a player of similar quality who can be a mainstay in our midfield. We sure as hell don't have any currently who can offer us what Pogba could right now but hopefully after this transfer window we will be happy with the additions and can stop pining over Pogba.

Christ, can't you muppets understand the lad was a lazy good for nothing cockbag who, even now, isn't half as good as he thinks he is. I'd actually like to see him and his agent wrangle a move to a really big club and see him fall on his arse. Takes a bit more than a few fancy tricks and a cracking long shot to impress for a really top side.

Juve not big enough?

It's really not hard to see that, I can't understand how people think he would be success in almost every club. Luxury player who isn't that great as attacking midfielder because most of big clubs have better players there, and nowhere near good to play as a CM for top team in 442/4411/4231. Of course he can play in two man midfield too, but not against decent opponents(see France vs Ukraine).

Ooh Rabiot

Sadly I think he won't return to the Premier League after that horrific stint with City. :(

Arguably still not ready.

Bit harsh. When he played he was one of Cardiff's best outfield players in the second part of the season, and he consistently looked to be playing at a level above the rest of the team. Needs to improve his end product but from what he's shown in the PL so far I'd say he's definitely good enough to get game time for us. An intelligent, unafraid player with very good technique, I expect him to develop into a quality player during the next few years. He has balls too, I remember him berating his Cardiff captain for not doing his job on one occasion.

Wish we still had him. One of the most talented young midfielders I've ever seen, with the potential to be up there with the greats, in my opinion. I'm talking about Pogba, by the way.

We like going in circles here on the Caf don't we.

so Juve is not a really top club

Yup. Definitely be a squad player from what he's shown this season. Was Norway's best player on the night but seemed to fizzle out once they saw less and less of the ball.

Goal.com reckons Mourinho has made him his main transfer target this season. So it's bullshit.

He is an excellent player though, has so much potential and is an already established player in a top club. I can easily see him going to Madrid or PSG in a couple of years time, probably for a world-record fee if he continues to develop.

Juve is a pretty big club but a cheating, corrupt one. It is unbelievable that they still have so many fans and their dirty laundry isn't talked about more.

You tell em man!!

Barkley is just as good as Pogba if we could ever get Barkley here but he will definitely be at Everton for another 2 seasons at least...If Moyes had bought Strootman and McCarthy for the same money that he spent on Fellaini then we wouldn't be so obsessed with Pogba still but Moyes was about as far out of his depth as a manager can be

I still can't understand why we let a player more talented than Yaya Toure go in the one position we've desperately needed quality for a long time. It's just remarkable.

No. Plus Barkley plays more forward than Pogba as far as I'm concerned.
