Pep Guardiola's Bayern

Said it before, his style bores me and if its not working, they're fecked. RM's style is so much better imo

They played with more pace and urgency last season, more aggression/power too.

It'll be interesting what his tactics are when Lewandowski arrives.

What's the point of having two of the deadliest widemen in the game and then playing at such a slow tempo?

not relevant to this game, but why did he turn one of the best rightbacks in the world into a defensive midfielder?

Because he's now one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. And for Pep midfielder>any other position.

I've never got that. I think Carragher had a point last week in a weird way, it seemed like he wanted to come and make soem kind of impression and decided to do that, he's not bad in centre mid but he's a brilliant right back, seemed a random change.

They're a bit similar to Barca when they went in to decline this team, just a bunch of moaning feckers when things aren't going their way. I expect the sprinklers to be on full blast at full time.

People are such drama queens. It's his first season trying to implement a new play style on a side not used to it, yet they've walked the league and made the UCL semi final. No one ever retains the UCL and they've lost top a phenomenal team with the two most expensive players in world football in it and with quality across the board and in their manager.

Sh*t happens teams lose to other great teams. It doesn't mean tiki taka is dead or that Pep's done as a manager.

Would they actually get rid of Pep?

If ever there was an argument against having a league basically wrapped up at New Year. It's given Pep opportunities to tinker and change which wasn't really necessary.

Got it badly wrong over the two legs. That's all, let's not say he's destroyed anything yet for feck sake.

Guardiola has become so over-confident that it's destroying Bayern. They struggled with Danny Welbeck playing this way - how do you think Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema and Di Maria is going to go?

The ease with which they've got to this point will surely ensure he gets a second season. If they're to exit the champions league in a similar fashion next season they probably won't be so kind though.

They've been pretty unprofessional too. I remember reports of them being out partying till 7am after they won the league, Guardiola and all the squad. Never been the same since they secured the league, no team should be out having such parties when they still had the champions league to go.

I can't believe how naively he's set up his team. Everyone knew RM has the pace to really hurt Bayern yet they decided to play a really high line fron the beginning with all that tiki taka bullshit. #pepout

Semi-final maybe? Agree with overall point.
I think that he really lost the team after the early league win and failed to motivate them properly - he wouldn't make the same mistake next season.

Should have started with Martinez alongside Kroos and Schweinsteiger.

Nah let's all be knee jerkers and act like a guy who's won 5 league titles in 6 years of management doesn't know what he's doing.

Not sure I could name that many better than him.
There's plenty at the moment. Schweinsteiger, Busquets, Alonso, Fernandinho, de Rossi, Javi Martinez, Pirlo, Toure, Gerrard even. I'm sure there's more I'm missing.

He's obviously not bad there but hardly world class, having played only played a season there.

In fairness it wasn't that brilliant in his last season at Barca either. They struggled in plenty of competitions. I think he's a good manager still but it does seem he's pretty set on his sytem and won't change it at all, not really the sign of a brilliant manager in my opinion.

Both his managerial jobs he's inherited brilliant teams, I'd give him his credit and say he improved Barca a lot (but the foundations were in place) I'm yet to be convinced at Bayern personally. Football does adapt but it seems like Guardiola hasn't done that yet and it looks like it has backfired miserably here.

Sorry but I don't get these posts either? Moyes knows more about football management than anyone on this forum yet has been questioned (rightfully) since day 1. But because it's Guardiola and it's pretty clear it's gone wrong in this game no one is allowed to question him because of previous success?

Not once but twice they have been outdone by RM's pace even after losing the away goal in the first leg. I am surprised he did not start Martinez in the midfield. No way back for Bayern but they aren't playing like they care anyways.

Just goes to show that even if you're considered this 'magical' coach, you still have stuff to learn. Especially as this is only your fifth year at the highest level.

Not sure why people keep saying he's trying to turn them into Barcelona either, by the way. It's possession football but the style is completely different.

Guess we'll disagree then, I wouldn't include half those names. Though I would add Martinez to the list.

Ok he could have given Klopp a call how to play the second leg vs Real at your own home.. And how bad does his marking in standards get before somebody takes him to the cleaners for it? Terrible defending..

If Bayern had Messi they'd win and everyone would say Pep is amazing. If Barca didn't have Messi, Pep would be a pundit.

He's obviously not doing a poor job or anything but he's taken unnecessary risks when trying to implement a new style and has somehow managed to make an incredibly versatile side into a largely one-dimensional team. Part of that is down to Ribéry losing form at a key moment but part of it is down to trying silly things like playing fullbacks in centre mid. It looks like Balu was right in the beginning and Guardiola has taken this team back rather than forward.

It looks a lot like van Gaal reloaded, I'm not convinced yet :( .

I know that there are major differences to van Gaal's ideas. I only said it looks like back then, because more often than not we have possession for possession's sake and not for creating chances.

A few things are incredibly annoying, for example the way Guardiola tries to use our fullbacks. We play with inversed wingers who cut inside and interchange positions all the time, yet our fullbacks move inside as well and act like central midfielders instead of adding width. I have no clue how that could ever work.

Beckenbauer was not talking some crap, was he?!

Everyone saying he is deluded, when he was right along. Pep just tore down the team of last season.

Also, why the hell are they using zonal Markings!? You can't allow Ramos and Ronaldo with a run way to jump.

Shambles.

See that's just it, he's trying to implement a new system to a team that was so dominant last year and made it worse, why? Real has scored 3 goals in this half and we haven't seen even a whisper of a plan B, he's a superb coach but the very best managers reinvent themselves as well as their team. Tika taka isn't as dominant as it once worse, as demonstrated by the way this very team demolished his old team in his last season and the way Madrid are doing it again.

Lahm time as in MF is extremely overrated. He has done well but that was in a Bayern steam rolling everyone. He is not that big of an upgrade over Martinez anyway, if anything latter is better when it comes to shielding the defense.
