Phil Jones

He and Smalling were at fault for the goal but Jones won everything else aerially.. Are you sure you guys saw the same game?

His passing was very poor at times I felt...NEEDS TO BULK UP

He played well.

From my limited viewings of him I think he, understandably, still has a lot to improve on, his passing for starters, but he does seem to have the makings of a very strong penalty area defender, which gives me hope for the future since it's such an important part of our overall defensive approach and of course Rio and Vidic have been nothing short of sensational at defending our penalty area these last few years, so replacing that part of their games will be crucial.

Did very well last night, great tackling.

Moved into CB as subs were made though.

I was at the game. I noticed his positioning was often quite poor, but this is understandable since he was playing at right-back for much of the game. However, he was strong in the tackle and very aggressive, and was typically able to recover from any mistakes. He is also comfortable on the ball, and looks to bring it forward without being reckless.

He is very reminiscent of John Terry.

A bit worrying though when people expect him to play in CM this season though isnt it? (Which is bollocks anyway)
Good to hear he defended well though.

1:30

and about his position. Does someone know a site which would have the stats about where he played?
I'm sure he played quite a few games in midfield for Blackburn

Actually I was so focussed on United during that game, I hardly noticed Jones's performance. He played well.

Its not bollocks as his passing is normally sound and he spent pretty much a whole season playing there for blackburn. His passing is probably off more due to sharpness than ability as if you were to take passing as a major indicator at this stage then Tom Cleverley will never make it in CM.

Given time he will make a very good DM who should have the tactical dicipline to switch to CB when he needs to.

I think with that SAF interview that has more or less sealed what most of thought was the main reason behind we got rid of O'Shea.. I can see him playing many games all over the place.. I wouldn't be surprised if SAF tries him out in midfield soon..

We shall see. I still don't think that he will be used there too often.

A snippet of info, nothing exciting but its good to know exactly what they do earn.... A friend of mine went to school with him in Blackburn, met up with him in Aya Napa last month where he bought a round of drinks in and told about how he is on a £55,000 per week basic wage, and had a brand new Audi bought for him, and insured, and £1.8m signing on fee.

Well the Audi is probably almost free, as they sponsor us. Free publicity when he is snapped getting into it etc. The rest of the fees are not a surprise to me, maybe 45k a week max i would have thought.

To be expected with a transfer of this size and the competition involved, and I'm sure he'll be worth every penny.

Exactly. Also with so much competition involved with regards to his transfer, United were bound to offer him good terms.

Is this a one sentence?
