Barclays Premier League
Fratton Park
Saturday 28th November 2009
KO - 15:00 GMT

Last season's results-

Manchester United 2-0 Portsmouth (Rooney, Carrick)
Portsmouth 0-1 Manchester United (Fletcher)

Expect plenty changes to the team that played tonight.

Expect some game raising with a new manager in charge.

that was quick.

Was going to make a ratings thread but noticed this thread hadn't been made and it's not often that I'm on after a game so went for it. My first ever one :nervous:

Cmon, our performance against Besiktas was terrible but I think Fergie will at least get this game to turn it around ;)

pompey will raise their game as if its their cup final....I am wary of another new Harry for Pompey whoever get put in charge.....:nervous:

Nani in for Giggs, and that's what I'd go with. Giggs has been shocking in his past few games, and Nani should get a chance for an unconditional 90 minutes like some of the shite performances somehow got tonight.

Last time Newcastle and Chelsea came with new managers. We ripped both.

Avrant grant could be in charge for this game plus the players will want to impress maybe not as easy as it looks.

Curbishley did something similar, his last game managing Charlton was against us, as was his first game for West Ham.

Agree. Nani would be up for it. Giggs has done well but not so well as to own the position and he's had several disappointing displays too. Nani has been frustrating but not so bad that he shouldn't be starting a fair number of matches; that is unless someone else puts together a run of good performances. Obertan doesn't look fit enough for more than one start per week and similarly Park is returning from injury.

I wonder has Nani fallen out with fergie from his comments????

Prediction:1-2 win (Rooney, Berbatov)

I'm of the opinion that he's taken him out of the firing line for a little while. He's being getting a lot of attention of late and maybe a little break away from it all might what he needs to get him back on track.

SAF as said that they were no problems with either Nani or Foster after he read the quotes. Said he'd spoken to both and the matter was sorted.

van der Sar
O'Shea Brown Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Carrick Giggs
Berbatov Rooney

Pretty sure Fergie will opt for Giggs instead of Nani.

I don't know if im paranoid but it always seems like we play teams that have just appointed a new manager.

VDS
Rafael Vidic Brown Evra
Valencia Fletcher Carrick Obertan
Giggs
Rooney

0-0

New manager syndrome. They'll be up for this, as will the fans. Fratton park is no easy place to go.

Berbatov is fit so I think he'll start up front with Rooney.

Valencia-----Fletcher----Giggs--------Nani
------------Rooney-----Berbatov----------

Subs: Foster, Neville, Scholes, Carrick, Park, Obertan, Owen.

Well looks like Berbatov should be ready for this one which is good news. Always think we look better with him in the team.

Midfield is the tricky one, I guess Carrick and Fletcher are the form player in central areas so they should start. Then Valencia on the right but unsure of the left. Don't think it'll be Obertan, so its between Park, Nani and Giggs for me with Giggs being the favorite.

I say this a lot, but its bloody difficult prediction line ups. SAF always seem to through a curve ball in!

this prob won't be the line up but hey

----------------------VDS-----------------------

Rafael-------Brown------------Vida----------Evra

------Fletcher-------Scholes--------Giggs--------

------Nani----------Rooney--------Welbeck------

Subs. Fozzy, Nev, Scholes, Carrick, Valencia, Berba, Owen

The new manager syndrome could be lessened by the fact that Grant has already been at the club for a while so its not some new face coming in that they need to make first impressions on. Agree with some of the comments about Nani, if he doesn't feature again its a pretty big sign that SAF has had it with him.

We won't go 4-3-3 at Portsmouth. It will be 4-4-2 with Rooney and another striker, depending on Berbatov's injury.

We'll win, don't know how comfortable it will be though.
