Idiots it are. That everybody at the club reflects and if they can keep on doing their job. To the players and staff that are victims, I apoligize for the people who did that and if they decide to leave the club I wish them all the best. Sunday we lost millions of euros because we lost the 2nd place, yesterday we lost even more millions and especially a lot of our reputation. Feel sorry for the real Sporting fans.

Ehehehe. Not really. Carvalho's atittude in the last weeks caused all this. A lot of regular fans were totally disgusted with the players, they felt like they lost a sure title, even though they ended up in 3rd place!
This also happened with Porto under Co Adriaanse after a bad start, but things didn't go this far and the worst thing they've done was throwing pyrotechs against the players and staff carrs.
We're disgusted with the players because it's impossible to watch one of our games recently and not be disgusted at how shit they are and at how little attitude they show. Are you watching the final? This is absolutely disgusting to watch. I geniunely dislike my own team, from the players to the coach to the president.

Someone explain me how and why people still rate Gelson as a good player? He's worse than Djalo. Months of being complete crap, no idea how he's going to the World Cup. Coates shouldn't be allowed to be anywhere near a Sporting jersey ever again. One of the worst performances I've ever seen from a Sporting player. Bruno Fernandes gets a lot of love for the goals he's scored but Jesus, if he was half as good as he's hyped to be we'd have won the league.
We might turn it around but this whole performance was just absolutely disgusting.
Bas Dost misses the easiest goal in football history too, it's a Sporting tradition by now. Montero in the last minute against Atletico misses an open goal and eliminates us from the Europa League. Rafael Leão in the last minute against Porto threw the league away and now this. A treble of lost competitions due to missing goals my dead grandma would score. This club is cursed. I mean, look at this:
How the hell does this keep happening? It's always us. This isn't a one time event, look through the years at our biggest games and it always happens. Different managers, different players... it doesn't matter.

Balnced game in the final, Sporting made a decent final pressure, but couldn't convert the chances. The draw would be a fair result, imho.

What a shock week. Deserved win for Aves yesterday, they were ready, Sporting obviouslly not but that was expected after what happened during the week. I can't blame them it's already some week that they showed fatigue, played a lot of games this year and the manager and the president didn't manage the group (first one always the same team, the second with his attacks and aways putting pressure)
Now let's see what will happen in the next weeks. Sporting needs stability and I don't think it will happen with the president who is there now. But he isn't the only one who has to be replaced new football manager too.

The board needs to fix it nice and quick, imho. If they dismiss Jorge Jesus, they will have a lot of troubles in finding a replacement, because looking at the managers market, there aren't anyone with top club level available.
A lot of psychological work needs to be done with the players. If necessary, Sporting should spoil them a bit in order to raise the morale and make sure the players feel wanted in the club.
There should be a director of football appointed ASAP. The new season is not planned yet, for crying out loud! This is a receipt for disaster if it doesnt get solved quickly.

First of all Sporting needs to know who is gonna lead them. Is it Bruno or anyone else?
Second we need to know who the manager is and if there will be a sporting director and what the task is of this Sporting Director.
Third we need to make a squad.
If I was the person who had to decide. I'm just a fan not a socio I would go for a new president and a new manager (a foreigner) that is willing to work under a sporting director.
But hopefully we will have very soon news who is gonna be the leader of Sporting. Will our president stay or not? That's the 100000 dollar question for now.

The season was planned by the previous technical staff. If the new staff comes in, they still have time to redefine their schedules and adapt it to their training plans.
Let´s see if Inácio is going to do a good job for the club or it's just another yes sir. A strong Director is what you guys need the most now, because even if Bruno falls, there will be a couple of months until the next chairman gets elected.
The foreign manager is something that will happen for sure. All good portuguese managers are either taken or prefer working outside Portugal to get a bigger paycheck.
If I was the one in charge, I would pick Marcelo Gallardo. His work at River is quite good and bare in mind that River Plate doesn't have the same financial leverage as in the "old days" where the title race was basically between them and Boca and a few outsiders like Velez Sarsfield.

From what I kept reading the President is a scumbag but there is always 2 sides to a story it seems. I imagine if Menses is involved he will be looking for alternatives for those players - the agent fees he'd get to deliver them for 'free' would be insane
They most likely will have to go to court to decide if the player's reasoning are legit or no. If the decision favors the players then they will be able to sign for anyone on a free.

Have to disagree here. Jorge Mendes would be loosing a lot of money if the players he represents leave by unilateral contract termination. I think this was clearly a move made by the player's lawyers (yes, most of football top players have a personal agent and lawyer).
This is not a good thing for a super-agent like Jorge Mendes because his goods can be considered toxic, since with the contract terminations you can't antecipate how large will be the transfer fee determined by FIFA and when can the player be registered in other associations.
For a buyer club, it's not a good thing.
So, nobody made a closing post for this thread. I will point who, IMHO, were the key players from our league last season.
Porto:
Porto:
- Brahimi - Inconsistent at times, but capable of bringing flair into the game and solve some matches.
- Marega - From dispendable to eky player, this was Marega's story last season. His determination, pace, strength, work rate made him a very valuable player, despite having some technical flaws.
- Felipe: yes, he's sometimes violent, but the truth is that when he doesn't play, Porto's defence is shaky. Best example: Porto 0 - 5 Liverpool, Felipe was suspended in this match.
- Alex Teles: He's a fantastic fullback. Defends well and attacks even better. His crossing and set-pieces make him a fantastic assister.
- Ruben Dias - "He's inexperient. Still not good enough, etc". A lot of people were skeptic, but in the end he kept his place in the team, while other defenders were being rotated.
- Franco Cervi - Inconsistency problems, but he's a livewire. HIs fast drible and ready-to-go shot make him a very dangerous winger.
- Jonas - The veteran player still shows that age is only a number. The most influent Benfica's player by far.
- Bruno Fernandes - He was instrumental during all season, with great screamers, accurate passing and always dangerous on set pieces
- Bas Dost - Kept Sporting on the title run, despite some poor exibitions here and there. But hey, no player can produce in every match.
- Gelson Martins: a lot more was expected from him, but he did enough to deserve this mention. Clearly one of Sporting best players last season.
- Marcelo Goiano: the 30 y.o center back is solid as a rock. A pitty he arrived so late in his career at our league.
- Ricardo Horta: Hard worker, good vision and likes to score. He's Braga's most consistent player.
- Paulinho: Powerful striker with a very good first touch, made a very solid season, scoring for several times in decisive moments.
- Francisco Geraldes: on loan from Sporting, made a very good season. Unfortunatelly for him, he was loaned out once again.
- João Novais: made a fantastic season, with top performances. Braga immediatly snatched him.
- Guedes: problematic, erratic, ended up being sold due to his behaviour, but he was instrumental this season.
- Pedro Tiba: their key player last season. Got transfered to Lech Poznan. This is a very good deal for them, IMHO.
- Renan Bressan: the hardworking brazilian-bielorrussian miedfielder made a great working pair with Tiba. He was instrumental.
- Bebeto: one of last league revelations, he proved himself to be a very reliable right back. Too bad he's already 28/29
- Joel Tagueu: mid-season loan last season, but immediatly got into the team. His goals and dribles made him a season changing transfer for Marítimo.
- João Gamboa: released form Braga, this 21 y.o. defensive midfielde has shown improvement. Let's see how does his improvement continues.
- Renato Santos: again, another good season from this player. He is a creative force from the wings. Transfered to Malaga.
- Fábio Espinho: the veteran player is still one of the most reliable sources of their squad. A lot of good veterans at portuguese league. it's quite exciting to see times are changing.
- Raphael Rossi: very reliable center back, but already got transfered to Sion. Boavista defence is going to miss him badly.
- Paolo Hurtado: Excelent winger who scores a lot of goals. Too bad he prefered to get big bucks at MLS with just 28 y.o. Guimarãses is gonna miss him big time.
- Raphinha: signed for Sporting. he did a fantastic season, clearly one of the best players in the league.
- Shoya Nakajima: one of the revelations of last season, Nakajima is a livewire dribbler and has an excelent vision.
- Fabrício: very good season by this striker, who is now going to play in the J-League. A great loss for them!
- Paulinho: made a great half-season, then got loaned to Porto, where he disappeared. I think he has quality, but does not fit in the 4x4x2 system used by Conceição at Porto
- Pedro Nuno: instrumental miedfielder in the team build-up.
- Hélder Tavares: does he ever gets tired?
- André Sousa: made a very interesting season. On a loan to Gijon, which is a strange deal.
- Nathan: mid-season loan who worked very well. Despite not scoring many goals, he was a threat everytime the ball got on his feet.
- Carlos Ponck: the center-back made another solid season, proving he clearly has enough value to play at this level. Fast, strong and usually concentrated, did his job quite well.
- Fernando Tissone: Mid-season transfer who made a change at Aves midfield. This experient argentinian player gave some quality to Aves midfield.
- Edinho: old but still gold: saved Setúbal several times this season, once again
- João Amaral: Very good season by this player, which made Benfica activate the buyback clause. Unfortunatelly for him, he was not up to the challenge and end up being transfered to the polish league.
- Gonçalo Paciência: MAde a fantastic first half of the season before going to Porto. He's now transfered to Frankfurt.
- Tozé: clearly their MVP this season. He was instrumental for them.
- Alfa Semedo: Good evolution from this very young defensive miedfielder. Looks promising.
- Peter Etebo: Made a very solid half-season, then got in a loan deal with Las Palmas. Stoke City hired him this season.
- Babanco: a decent destroyer for relegation battlers, who proved to be a reliable defensive miedfielder
- Luiz Phellype: even though they got relegated, this forward made a very interesting season and I think other Primeira Liga clubs should had gone for his services.
- Eduardo Teixeira: this midfilder shown his talent, despite his club performance. Braga already got him.
- Lucas Evangelista: made a very good season, and already transfered to Nantes. Very technically gifted
