Liverpool might be scoring a lot of goals, but they still haven't anything since 2012. And we might be playing the worst football, but we have won 3 trophies since Ferguson has left. Five points above them and still have a chance to win a trophy this season. What would you rather have, good football without trophies or boring football with trophies and better league position?
Why do we have to look so far though?

Right across the road, City play great football and win trophies. Even before Pep arrived.

What's wrong with "throwing players under the bus" when it's totally deserved? Would you rather he pretended that was good? No because people would lose their shit over Jose talking crap again. He can't win with some of you.
He coaches and sets up our team to be defensive , plays two holding players at home and then complains that we don't play well.
Yes some of our players either aren't good enough and even worse not hard working enough but Jose has the lion share of the responsibility here.

The problem is I don't see us going anywhere chopping and changing managers. And whoever comes in, say somebody like Jardim or Sarri (doubt it but hypothetically) would need time to get their principles in.

On the other hand I don't see where we are going with Jose. Earlier in the year we saw a functional well drilled team, somehow getting their nose in front with a goal and then blitzing teams on the counter in the last few minutes. That was taken care of with the 0-0 against Liverpool after which we struggled.
Again with some potential confidence building wins against Chelsea/ Crystal palace and Liverpool only to be followed by that disaster of a show of cowardice against Sevilla and we are fast going nowhere. Definite signs of going backwards with our football. It might absolutely be a confidence issue but if games like Sevilla knock us back then Mourinho is not going to take us anywhere given that's his way of doing things.
Agree with what you're saying but I just don't see this kind of football as compatible with the club. MUFC are a huge club that requires both trophies and good, attacking football.

They certainly are, he mentions working on faster build up play and personally I felt we moved it quicker today so it's interesting for me to see that translated so quickly on to the pitch. Now obviously there was a lot that wasn't up to standards and it broke down too often when reaching the final third but I hope we continue that emphasis in training because if I can see evidence after a few days work then hopefully it'll bear fruit after 3/4 weeks.
My thoughts too, fingers crossed we start to see it soon as it's the business end off the season.

Watching United play is like when I watched George St. Pierre fight: the aproach gets a win, but is usually a borefest.

There was a briefing a few weeks back - stating how Mourinho retains the full support of key figures at Old Trafford and that it'll be some of the players who'll be the first to go. By all accounts, they are happy with the progress made.

Woodward and co are wedded to Mourinho. Whether some like it or not. They are nowhere near pulling the trigger. Nowhere near.
Ok I saw that. I don't believe it totally. The article or articles with that briefing made a point to say that Woodward still had his back which was suspicious to me. Maybe I'm too cynical, but I didn't believe it.

Just a blazing interview. If he's prepared the players and they are not performing, then players aren't performing for him?
If that is right, I hate it when players think they run a club, why not just do your job and show some professionalism.

We are a terribly coached team. That is all.

Coaching isn't really "all" our problem and of you think it's just that you're deluded, no offense.

I have criticized Mourinho a lot the last few weeks in games like Newcastle, Seville, Tottenham, etc. I said he failed miserably in integrating Sanchez in the team, so he's not blameless for me.

However, coaching isn't related to having such a crap mentality on the pitch. Our players think of the win as guaranteed and don't bother to go on full gear to win. How many times we have came second beast against mediocre teams that showed some passion and desire to win it ?

Only when we are at danger our players start to perform, not the most negative manager in history will tell his players to play only when they're losing.

If they think they can put in that level of performance and then not receive criticism for it, then it's a dressing room that isn't worth keeping

Clubs don't sack (transfer) a load of players just because a manager falls out with them.

I'll be shocked if that's what happens. It always makes sense to do the opposite.

Let's just assume he did do the right tactical prep, the fact the players don't want to run for him anymore and there is major disharmony.. what is the guarantee that the rebuilding in his hands will lead to us having a harmonious squad singing from same hymn sheet.

His own signings have given up on him in Mkhi and Pogba.

I thought we were ok in this game. Job done. Normally he wouldn't bat an eyelid over a performance like this.

If Pogba would grow up, it is him I am thinking he is telling to grow up, he might not have had to play two DM's. Pogba is causing a big problem for me. He is now 25 yet behaves like a 15 year old.

Watched the 4 min interview, and grudgingly I will have to accept his words this time. He is frustrated, and given the performance it is easy to understand why. He is culpable but he also needs more from the players.

Well he just said not even 6 of the 11 did what he asked them to.
THat doesn't mean all will go.

Personally I think Shaw is definite goner. We must shop for FBs, that needs to be repeated non stop. Others. Martial, I hope not.
Lingard was hiding a lot too.

But Mourinho clearly feels untouchable. I'd bet on him knowing that is in a position to rings the changes in the summer.

And given what we know of Woodward, it would be entirely plausible that he'll back Mourinho to the hilt. Mourinho has spoken before about Manchester United not being the club he expected to inherit - as in how it operate. If Woodward, Arnold et al believe he's making the right changes on and off the field in order for Manchester United to achieve the stability of Barca, Juve, Bayern, Real etc, then they'll back him.

It may seem antagonistic but it's a positive IMO for him to actually acknowledge a problem and try to motivate the players. It also signifies that he wants a better showing. He refused to acknowledge anything from Sevilla, at least here he's recognizing it's got to be better.

Matic as an island is a huge issue.

To me Lingard is only good enough as an impact sub.

Agree. Can't argue with the players the manager picked. The moment it was out, i thought it was a attacking lineup. For a change we need to demand players to do justice to the shirt. They aren't doing for free are they? Most of them were static as a pillar .

Honestly a few more years watching that football I doubt too many people could stay awake long enough to prefer that style of football. Since Fergie left we have been really brutal to watch all to often .

Well. Still better than playing beautiful football with no results. That's the point. Would people be okay going out 3-3 draw with Sevilla?

Sorry, but I watch football for entertainment. Boring football can only win you tier 2 trophies. Teams who play good football win leagues and UCLs

Ofcourse. Not denying that, but it has to be good football with trophies rather than good football which results to nothing.

Maybe he could start by being honest with them? Gain their trust and start again? How is him ranting like this after his rant the other day going to make the players want to play for him? He pretty much said most of them are shite in his recent press conference. So what does he expect?

We have lots of problems Pogba certainly Martial will be on his list after another frustrating non performance.

His comments weren't untrue, however, you have to wonder whether Mourinho's questioning of players' mental strength in public will lead to improvements in those same players. Mentally weak players will often see public scrutiny and not use it constructively. Mentally strong players will react, but, it could create disharmony in the process.

Then Woodward and Arnold are crazy imho. Mourinho is unstable. You cannot build anything with such a person in charge. It is suicide to give control to someone who is clearly out of control.

Yes. He is. Need to find a right balance, blend Alexis in somehow.

He had his day in the sunshine. Was never going to last, but it was great fun for a few months there.

Matic did well, Romero did his job well and I felt sorry for Lukaku stuck up there. Scott was not great but the lad tries hard enough and Jose has given him his chance. Smalling was OK as well.

Pretty sure Van Gaal felt in charge given his shock at being sacked. I imagine Woody is a solid politician behind the scenes.
