Simply gonna repeat what I've always said. Pogba is going to be an absolutely important player for us over the next few years.

Also a nod to Rashford. At the moment his talent is raw. But it's definitely there!!! Starting to show glimpses of being a typical Mourinho type player.

Been a few years since we were both in the CL and provided the rest of the season goes to plan hopefully it'll be a decent duel on a couple of fronts next year

One thing to take notice of was that Mourinho mentioned that Rashford stays back a half hour after training sessions to practice his freekicks which is very similar work ethic to Ronaldo. I hope he gets even better with all that hard work he keeps putting in. On the other hand, I don't understand why Lingard starts important games for us. He keeps missing chance after chance. Yes, he's got a good work rate and makes good runs every now and then, but that doesn't matter when the ball is not in the back of the net. I'm sure Mourinho was frustrated with the barrage of chances we missed especially the ones Lingard couldn't put away. I believe he had 3 very good chances on his own. I really hope come August, he's not being considered as our first 11, we need goal scorers, finishers and more importantly someone more talented and clinical than Lingard for a winger. On a side note, wasn't too impressed with Mhikitaryan either. He's been pretty average lately.

"Pois menos mal que tiñan moitas baixas e que viñan cansos." / Well, thank God they came with lots of injuries and tired.

"Ellos son el Atleti del Cholo, pero peores técnicamente." / They're like Simeone's Atlético, only worse technically. :nono:

It's 3 yellows a suspension. If he gets one next round and one in the final, he will miss the super cup.
Are you positive about that? I thought two yellows now meant missing the final.

It's such a pleasure to see Rashford becoming more and more complete with each game. He looks about 27-28 with his maturity and like 19 with his pace! We still need a big money striker to come in and ease the burden. I'd love to see Rashford play 40 games a season instead of 65 just so we can get some longevity out of him.

I'm still waiting for Blind to be 'done by the pace of their wingers'. It never happens, someone posted saying it's a Red Café myth and it really is
. He always gives 7/10 when called upon and he will be here for the next 5 years at least. It's players like that that Fergie loved to have, similar to O'Shea, P Neville, Solskjaer and Park who would be out of the team for a month, and step in and perform at a good level.

Lingard does so much more than many posters see on here, he is an important part of the current counter attacking, defence stretching tactic. He makes the off the ball runs that we don't see because he doesn't get the ball. Rashford gets extra space because of Lingard, Pogba gets a big hole to run into in the midfield because of Lingards runs and its great to see, he gets a lot of harsh criticism but he will be sticking around as a Mourinho squad player for sure, even if he is replaced in the first team next season.

If anyone had any doubts about Pogba just watch the influence he gave us tonight. Look back at the games we've been without him. He is a huge engine in our play. He makes sloppy mistakes, bad passes, holds the ball too long and gets tackled, but I'd take that all day for some exceptional passes, surging runs, and legs we've not had for years in the middle. He will only get better and cut out the flaws he has and be a top top player for us I'm sure of it.

Mata is being readied for our most important 6 games of the season. When you looked at the bench tonight you saw good players ready to play on Sunday at Arsenal. I wouldn't be surprised if we finished 4th AND won the Europa. Put that with the League Cup and the Community Shield and of course the strides in quality this season compared to the LVG era and you have to take your hat off to Mourinho and say job well done in his first season. I don't understand the doubters at all.

it was I who said this. But apparently newbie @SachinJ22 thinks I need to watch him play more apparently
Very intelligent player and rightly praised by his manager.

They sound like Liverpool fans. The imaginary idea that they are still superior even though they were made to look average.

Pogba bossed the midfield. One of his best games for United so far.

I was expecting something like prime Bilbao, instead we got the current Bournemouth. They were pretty mediocre.

Decent performance from us. Should have killed the tie last night.

Only gripe is, I don't know why Jose insists on Fellaini in the middle for games like this. We could easily have had another attacker in the there. Fellaini is hopeless.

Does anyone know the situation with yellow cards, Pogba picked up a YC so does that mean if he gets another he could miss the final?

That's a good question. People talk a lot about that all yellow cards have expired ahead of the semi-finals. But what's happening with the yellow(s) in the semis?

Spot on.

Looks like he won't miss it even if gets a yellow in the second leg

Yep all fair! Like on the plus side he seems to find himself in front of goal an awful lot. On the other hand he nearly always misses. I do think he can be a squad player, but he can be rotation.

I am happy with Blind as CB. Very least he can be our third choice CB after Erik and a new signing.

Once in the knockout stages you need 3 yellows to miss a game. The fact that yellows are wiped out in the semis means he can't get suspended, unless of course he is sent off in the second leg. UEFA changed the rules to avoid the top players missing their show piece events due to suspension.

That was an excellent performance. We created several clear-cut chances and were solid in defence. The team looks better than at the start of the season. The progress is there for all to see.

Good result and a comfortable position for the second leg at Old Drawford - really hope this changes quickly in the new season..

On that performance it seems like fantasy that this team beat Barca and Real Madrid this season. They were atrocious.

Credit to the way Jose approached the game and completely nullified them. Pogba was magnificent and completely bossed the midfield. The only annoyance is we missed so many sitters and should have ended the tie last night. We are in a great position to make the final regardless.

Very pleased about that performance. Just think what difference a clinical finisher would make. The match day thread reached an all time low however, many of the posts were deplorable. What stone do some of these posters crawl out from under?

As an Ajax and United fan Im more confident United reaches the final than Ajax, theres no way they can beat us at Old Trafford, with Mata also back and Blind and Bailly continuing to pair better we have a boost. They have one dangerous player in Aspas, we can nullify him again.

That is good to hear, thanks for clarifying.

love the performances showed by our players. just a bit disappointed with how we didnt finish the chances well, our biggest problem this season. fortunately Rashford managed to gave us goal advantage. hopefully we can go to final and win EL trophy. I'll be very very happy.

That game just goes to show how laughable all of this negativity around Pogba is. Look at the state of us without him compared to when he does play! Literally everything goes through him.

He doesn't score 20 goals a season or run around like a lunatic though so the English press will never get it

If we get to the Final (against Ajax) who will be the Home Team?

You forgot ,we have got the former Bilbao man Herrera in our side now .

good performance, we where great for 70 mins, bit disappointing we didnt press our advantage and try and kill off the tie, isntead of getting men behind the ball to protect our lead, but i guess thats Mourinho's way.

Rashford is looking more and more like he is ready to be our starting number 9.

Also want to give a shout out to Blind, for a guy most fans describe as not a real centre back, he continues to have good performances in the roll when called upon.
We never went to defend the lead, we were attacking until the end, wasteful in our chances conversion otherwise the semifinal would be over by now.

Couldn't watch the game since we had some people at home (FF*). After reading your posts & having watched the highlights we just can say we were the better time by far and we should have scored more goals.

Hope we'll not screw it next week, cause I really wanna see us in the final against the big Ajax.

Hope we'll complete an amazing week this Sunday defeating Arsenal.

C'mon lads!

For me Rashford won't improve anymore been a bit part player, if we sign a big name striker over the summer and limit Rashford's starts, he isnt going to be ready 17/18

Maybe Rashford won't be 100% ready for next season and will have a few dips in form, but we have to give him the chance to go out their and learn the game now if we ever want him to be our long term number 9.
Was tired and wrote wrong. I meant 18/19.

I think that he'll need another season like this one - sharing the position with an experienced player, mostly to take the pressure of him. It's not good for such a young player to have that much pressure and to play so much in my opinion. I'm worried that he'll 'burn out' and ruin his future development. I still hope Mourinho will take things very slowly with this gem. If everything goes well, it's going to be such a joy to follow both him and United these coming 8-12 years with him.

The 'backbone' of the team is really great - Bailly, Pogba, Rashford. The next 8 (?) years with these 3 is going to be really important and give 'security', and hopefully lead to titles.

Okay, you seem to watch more United matches than me. You know better than me.

utterly disagree, from about the the 70th minute our midfield basically sat in front of hour defence and even when we did attack is was never in numbers always just 2 o r 3 players while everyone else held their defensive position.

Its a typical Mourinho tactic, if your in the lead round the 70 min mark, shut the game down.
