Seeing “Jolly Ole” at the end was hard to take. Seems his mindset isn’t in the right place

It has shades of Moyes being piggy in the middle during a training session

Lingard received some applause from Ole when he was going out. The boys were mental today.

Ah. Now Chelsea away next. That'll be 4 away games in a space of 10 days after we play Liverpool at home. Tasty! Meanwhile, did anyone else think Ole's greetings at the end of the game was a bit over the top? Waving a lot more than usual. Hope he ain't throwing in the towel yet...

Best thing of the night was Romero’s facial expressions before saving the penalty. That guy is proper crazy.

It's not as if we've struggled against teams we should have, Exeter springs to mind, Burton, Coventry all came and did a job on us, whilst we had Fergie as manager. The lack of creativity, the lack of balls into the box by the wide players nearly killed us tonight. It wasn't a great performance far from it, but for now it's better than going out like other clubs higher up in the league have done in this round.

Scruffy wins in these rounds will be forgotten if in February we are lifting the trophy, unlikely as that may be.

Did our so called manager give an interview already after the game?

2nd half wasn't as bad this forum wants it to be. We pretty much ran the entire show. They had one cross, then another cross where Andreas thought he didn't have to run back, so they scored.

Pogba looked rusty. Jesse had his first assist this season? If Fred is a £50M midfielder, there's not enough money in the world to rebuild our squad.

I'm still not convinced Chong is going to be a decent player for us. All the hype, and so little to show for so far. Ben Thornley, anyone?

Another clueless performance. This is our level now struggling to overcome lower division fodder. Chelsea will hammer us and rightfully so. Chong is atrocious and should never get near the first team again and Solskjaers days are numbered and he knows it.

2nd half was 1-1. At OT. Against Rochdale.

My concern is the apparent lack of leadership and effort from the senior players to night, not one set an example for the younger players, in fact they actually showed up the seniors.

The results I can live with but the performances are frankly untenable.

I have no clue what they get up to during training, offensively we look clueless.
Thats the one consistent thing about out team these days.

Arsenal is a MASSIVE game.

Why, really? We're not going to achieve anything this season. As for the football itself, it won't be solved by having a decent game against a team with a weak back line. We might do OK against Arsenal, we might not. If won't change much in the grand scheme of things. Maybe just buy Solskjaer some peace and time.

Our biggest issue has been the same issue for over 5 years. We genuinely lack quality in attack. Particularly from our wingers. Forget about all this modern day full back talk, imagine Neville and Irwin being the primary creators in our attack, that's how this current team works due to the dearth in quality higher up the field. The midfield does its job in getting it to them and supporting them. But if you can't trap a ball, cross, shoot dribble or pass, how are we supposed to create.

Best moments from the game, after reading Caf, i didn`t even feel to see it - all the negativity nearly killed me. If this is United fans i thought, then bugger off away from me - how wrong could i be - The vocal United fans during games, and the keyboard warriors at Caf are of two different specimen end of story

Williams - Great player potential, might have blocked the view for Ramos on the goal against, but set up the goal before that (why would usual suspects at Caf not be more intrigued about him as a backup for Shaw after more gametime - ignorance? - even i knew his potential)
Greenwood - second penalty he has scored on senior level, cold as ice "The Hitman" / "Iceman" ..
Tuanzebe will be great(er) when his authority grows into the group - good example to set him up as `C`
Lingard`s assist - hopefully it takes of 5% of the pressure on his shoulders, so that maybe he can step out into the brighter side again
AWB are getting a little better at crosses

Wanted to see Garner, butbut things happened, a goal agains .. Chong i feel are in big need of good experiences.

Rochdale: Love those underdog teams & good to see they had a great experience. That`s what this cup is about - tradition and celebration of the football family, and that young lad(y) at 16 & the keeper & that midtfielder that went down at the end

We all know it`s though times - therefore kudos to United`s vocal supporters and the ones bringing positive energy to the matches, if not for them your club would be in a very dark place and i would rather have watched the series `Heartbeat`in a binge on a hot summers day .. keep it up vs Arsenal and don`t stop singing in the 65 min and start the summing, these players are what you have now for the moment, and they need your love .. i do to. Thank you, it was delicious!

Dan James stood up

Ole needs time to clear out the crap and bring his own players in - wont happen inone transfer window I am afraid. There is no quick fix and firing another manager would just set us back another year. Back the manager and be patient

We literally don’t have a thing going right for us at the moment.

- Absolutely horrible group of players. Holy fecking shit I never thought I’d see the day when a Manchester United team would be this bad.
- Manager who has zero business being here. Listen, I loved Ole as a player, but I honestly don’t think he’s up to the task. I don’t care how you’d like to sugarcoat it, a Manchester United team should not have this much trouble breaking down a team like Rochdale.
- Despicable board that has no idea how to run a football club.

I’d be optimistic if at least one of those three factors above were going well for us but none of them are.

It was against fecking Rochdale at home.

We lost a good few of these matches under Fergie. I can recall about half a dozen impressively poor results against 'weak' opposition. It happens.

Lingard offered nothing (that's very much barely an assist). Perreira offered less than that. Chong offered less than that.

So that's 3 of our 4 attacking players that were an absolute liability. And we still won.

This is going to be a hard season. Get used to it. At least we peppered their keeper, our 17 year old scored a goal (and a cool pen) and Romero got to be crazy. Also that clearance off the line from AWB was magnificient.

Enjoy the win, looking ahead it might be a while...

The negatives are obvious.

Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams and Greenwood all performed well. Happy with that.

That was bad, folks. That was horrific to watch.
Why does Perreira get so many starts? Pogba was awful. Chong reminds of a very raw Januzaj. Wow that was bad

Why is there no Brandon Williams performance thread? The guy deserved one by his performance - a very solid senior debut, looks better than Young already

feck off. To beat Rochdale? Rojo costs more than their entire team and he barely ever plays for us.

Ole is so far out of his depth it's scary. Give him 30 years and he'll still be crap.

Can we trade their 16 year old with Jones? At least he can last a whole game.
I would play Williams before Young on monday after that debut, Thought he showed great composure for his age and his overlapping was not bad either.

Get rid of Lukaku and Sanchez they said. It'll be fine they said.

It goes without saying that we'll need far better than tonight in the next round against Chelsea. There will be no repeat of the opening game result that's for sure.

As for the game tonight, there's not much to say about it. Created a load of chances as you'd expect versus a team like this but we rarely actually looked like scoring a goal. That's indicative of our team in general this season though tbf. Good to see Greenwood on the scoresheet again. We shouldn't need to a 17 year to bail us out but I'm happy he's scoring in these games and hopefully it builds up his confidence. Other positives... Well the youngsters got more game time;
Chong, Greenwood, Tuanzebe (not quite as inexperienced of course) and nice to see a debut for Williams too!

We won and that's all that matters to me. You don't get extra points or trophies for winning by 1 or 100 goals. It's all the same -- you get 3 points and move on to the next round.

Good job this was our home game,Rochdale looked far better organised, what exactly are we coaching these guys at Carrington?

You don’t get points in domestic cup competitions but the rest was somewhat correct.

Wait a fecking minute..... I just saw the score..... Did this f****** match actually go to penalty kicks??

Damn we have a lot of trolls...

Anywho...dominate game that we were unlucky in. People calling for Ole to be fired need to give their head a shake. Give credit where it's due. Sanchez (their keeper) was by far man of the match. Sure, we should beat a team like Rochdale easily but I would be more concerned if we went to penalties without dominating the match for 90 minutes.

Pogba stinks. He is too non-chalant whenever he gets the ball and he gets disposessed way too much. It's almost as if he has this attitude of "how dare you try and tackle me, I"m Paul Pogba". Also very notable that he didn't take a penalty.

I thought Periera played well for the most part and looked very confident with the ball, but he turned his back on his man for their equalizer. Such a schoolboy error to make.

Greenwood is going to be amazing. I love how nobody knows what his preferred foot is. All game the commentators were talking about his "preferred left foot" (which he scored with) and then he goes and takes a penalty with his right. So what is his preferred foot? I really don't think it makes a difference.

Big game this weekend. Arsenal isn't going to sit back and obsorb pressure so I expect to see us score some goals. Hopefully Greenwood gets the start...
