RAWK goes into Meltdown 2010/2011

Yeah, but you asked for it.

Had a look over at RAWK, but they continue to disappoint. Common or garden variety bitterness, and far from the majestic sweeps of Stubbins' diving header in the snow or We're the every blade of grass. They obviously haven't snapped out of the Hodgson slump yet.

I did find something funny though - a link to a Barcelona manga! They're obviously reading up on their new favourite team.

This is the football everyone in the world dreams of!

The average thing is a joke, it has to be. 3 finals in 4 years is a phenomenal achievement, and this time it has been done without Ronaldo or Tevez, which after losing those players makes it all the more impressive. They can go on as much as they want, the wankers, but we did have the reigning champions and Chelsea in our half of the draw.

Do keep up, Weaste -- didn't you know the European Cup is a boring, sad joke these days? They're glad Liverpool don't have to go through the drudgery of playing in this tedious farce. As per a variety of RAWKites --

Honestly I think the CL has been poor overall the past few seasons. Even when we were in it I was getting tired of it

[...]

It's been piss poor for a good while now. It's an awful competition and getting worse by the year.

[...]

Is that really what 'we' want for football? It's becoming a laughing stock. They money men rule and these shite competitions which are getting shitter every year are being 'played' by mercenary knobheads that don't give a shit about the club they currently play for

I wonder exactly when the European Cup entered this sharp decline. Did maybe the rot start to set in when The European Cup lost Liverpool?
Answer on a Rafa Benitez postcard to The Captain Obvious Sweepstakes.

Playing devil's advocate but I'm sure never giving Liverpool any respect for the 2005 win instead of labelling it a "fluke" hasn't helped earn respect for your achievements.

If there's one thing I'm absolutely 100% sure of, it's that any respect expressed by individual United supporters for the 2005 victory wouldn't make the bitterness brigade over at RAWK change their tune even slightly.

Personally I think it was a great achievement, and I have no trouble admitting it to my Liverpool supporting mates (or anyone, really). But I'm hardly likely to turn cartwheels when our rivals pull off yet another European Cup win, am I? Paying grudging respect & lamenting yet another European Cup for Liverpool is a far cry from claiming the entire European Cup is a boring, pointless farce when we're doing well and you're not even in it, you have to admit.

While I'm being so fair & unbiased :p, of course I know there are some decent posters at RAWK. They just drown in a tide of bitter shite.

I agree which is why I never go there.

What you have done is certainly a great achievement and you deserve full credit. I could however find loads of posts in this forum labelling ours a fluke and mocking us for even suggesting that "2 finals in 3 years" was good as " you get nothing for finishing second" etc.

But, in fairness, hat's off. You're record is pretty impressive now.

if we win the double they will somehow, magically, decide that only European Cups count 5>4= they're still the best!

to be honest if we do win the double , most of them will say it was because of corruption and how FA ,UEFA let us win ,by crap ref , dodgy pen, brown envelopes anything they can think of but give us some prise.

and this posted a bit ago is just :wenger: ,they cant really believe what is says ,can they ?

That's because it was a fluke. You appeared from the nether regions of the league table, spawned a 3 goal comeback then disappeared back down the league in the space of 3 seasons.

If that's not a fluke then the word has no meaning.

I love RAWK, it really is entertaining! United are either a "one man team", then we sell Ronaldo and we're "average" but we're always top of the league or there abouts.

Bitter is the word that always comes to mind when reading the poop over there.

I dont agree with you there , it was a fantastic fight back and deserve credit for it.
I did not watch the 1st half of the game but did the second and I want them to win in the end.
If we had done the same it would of been the biggest comeback since Lazarus.

It's not about them, we give credit where it's due, bitter as we may we understand that it's their feat of strength

But they're just laughable with their 8 years old attitude :p

Probably something to do with Liverpool being 30-odd points behind the leaders in the league in '05 and not even finishing in the top 4 that season. A side that weren't even the best side in Liverpool, let alone their own country, can hardly claim to be the best side in Europe. That hints to it, perhaps, being a bit of a fluke.

When we won the CL in '08, we also won the league, and we'd just won the league when we got to the final in '09, and we're at the top or thereabouts this year when we've got to the final again. That hints to it not being a fluke.

The difference when we get to a final and when you do is huge. If we were so far behind in the league that we could rest all our players in league games before CL games we'd probably be in the final every year. As it turns out, we're usually in the title race, so we have to play our strongest team week in week out.

Bizarre logic, MG and - by it - you are claiming most FA/League/European Cup wins to be 'flukes'.

Nice.

I don't have a problem with anyone on here calling Liverpool's win a fluke of course - it's to be expected. Just odd logic behind it.

Not a fluke for Liverpool, just not the same as United's last 4 finals, in 13 years, that's one every 3 years or so on average, where they also won the league (not yet this year, + an FA cup once) the very same year they played a final. Compare that to Liverpool..

Agree with you Sam. MGs point that Liverpool were in the enviable position of being able to rest players in league games is valid, but that in itself doesn't make the 2005 win a "fluke". That 2005 win was an extraordinary achievement given the quality of sides Liverpool overcame and their own limitations as a group of players.

Shouldn't that be 4 finals in 18 years ?. Because that's how many bites of the cherry you've had. Christ, even Rafa got us to 2 finals in 3 years. So 4 in 18, whilst being the dominant force in English football, is not that special really, is it ?

I think redman has something of a point

When we returned to European Football after the Heysel ban England was about ten years behind the rest of Europe.

I think three finals in four years, two defeats in Europe in four years, more accurately states our current level of dominance in Europe. Teams have a better chance of beating Barcelona than they do beating us in Europe in the last four years.

1 in '99, 1 in '08, 1 in '09 and now 1 in '11. In the same period of time we've also won 7 PL's, maybe 8. That's in 13 years.. No?

Liverpool reached 2 in 3 years. 2005 and 2007. That's a final every 1.5 years.. No?

Far better ratio, that.

Yes, you're right! Much, much better than Uniteds! I envy your achievement!

It is? does that have anything to do with Liverpool not qualifying for it?

mercenery knobheads? what like the 7 catalans born and bred in Barcelona representing Barcelona?
Like the United players who've been clocking up trophies and European Finals for the last 5 years?

Deluded, bitter, nonsense spouting muppets, the lot of em.
Worse bunch of supporters in football.

Liverpool also have better ratio in winning the league.

Won 0 in 21 years. That's the title every... 0 years.

Well we didn't enter in 92/93, so 4 in 17 :)

Does that not make it even more of an impressive achievement rather than a fluke? To be so shite but yet to beat Juventus, Chelsea & Milan who who all either reigning champions or champions of that season?

Honestly, how hard is it for someone just to say "well done, fantastic achievement but it doesn't change the fact that you're all bin-dipping cnuts" That way you save face because your hatred of all things Liverpool is clear for all to see but at the same time show yourself to actually have some sort of clue as to what you are talking about.

How could it be a fluke, it's an ode to Rafa's tactical genius and mesmerizing football.

When you're 3-0 down at half time against a very good Milan side, if I was a Milan supporter I'd say that something went very wrong on their part rather than something very right on Liverpool's part.

6 minutes aside you were outclassed completely for 114 minutes. Add to the fact Gerrard dived to win a penalty and the Referee missed the linesman waving his flag for offside seconds before the Smicer goal and I'd say you were extremely lucky.
