Red Dead Redemption

i liked my horse though:(

its okay though i killed him and then skinned the cnut

I was horse jacked. :(

Any of you done the dowsing mission?

Did you pay the old bastard for the deeds? I shot the turd in the face. Three times. I didn't much care for his attitude.

Haven't progressed past there yet. Good game, but I'm not blown away so far.

I shot him right in the neck

Someone tried to horsejack me too as i picked flowers but I shot him in the arse.

I thought I was being a good samaritan stopping to give some guy a lift. The cnut said something like "I have a better idea, friend, how about I just take your horse!!" Then he galloped off laughing like a drain. I didn't have a weapon equipped so he escaped.

:(

If anyone sees any Armadillo would they please let me know where and what time you saw them?

I've spent the last 30 mins looking for a pair of them for one of the hunting challenges. Suprisingly, there don't seem to be any near Armadillo.

Thanks.

Armadillo's and skunks and racoons etc are buggers to find. After that mission though you've got the fun task of killing a cougar with a knife. I shot the bugger in the leg then as it circled round me slashed wildly at it's face.

I've heard that later on you have to kill a bear with a knife. Yeah, that might take a few tries.

Just found some. Turns out they are near Armadillo but i was searching too close to town. You can find them a couple of hundred metres out. Oh, don't try to kill small game with the shotgun. There isn't anything left to skin.

I nearly shit when i got the task of killing 2 cougar with the knife but i finished it pretty easily actually.

I am wanting to kill bear for my sharpshooter challenge but they are up North and i still haven't gotten access yet. I'm just about to head down to Mexico.

:( don't have xbox nor PS3 and I love Western games...and movies and music and anything related to it

I'm starting to enjoy this a lot more now, for a very good reason. When I was healed after being shot initially, I went straight into town and started messing around, with contracts and what not. I was running out of things to do, so I went back to see Bonny (which I should've done in the first place). No shortage of things to do now, I now have a rope, and I can actually buy weapons in town. They were all locked out until I went back.

I have been playing through the missions and pissing about, and just reached the bit...

where you cross the river with Irish and kill all the people along the clifftops. When he leaves you and its just you and a horse, riding through Mexico during a sunset with that Jose Gonzalez song playing in the background is one of the most memorable things I have ever seen in a video game

That's exactly where I am, and you're right it was quite a sight and a little disturbing after 10hours with no music :s. Really enjoying it so far, I keep getting distracted by all the side missions. I even went to the movies in Armadillo, which if you haven't been I'd recommend, really funny stuff.

I've a bit of a crush on Bonnie too.

Yeah, that was great. I loved Irish's lines

'What's the word for cnut in Spanish?'

and

'You're an angry man, and you're a feck ugly man, but you're not a bad one'

The ending of this game is terrible. Well not so much the ending but what happens AFTER the ending.

I was looking forward to just dicking around once I finished the main plot. Now I doubt I'll touch it again as it is just too annoying to continue.

What's wrong with it? I might not get it if I can't just mess around once I've finished it.

So you can't go exploring after you finish the main story, you sure? Rockstar are usually pretty good with letting you finish up after you've done the main part.

No music?? I have had music all the way through. You are right though, the scenery is awesome. Instead of going straight into town i rode up the canyon to survey the land in the sunset. What a sight!

I think he means music with lyrics.

I always find sand-box games a bit overwhelming and like a nice linear narrative.

Can you play it in a fairly linear way, with a coherent storyline?

Or do you have to spend hours and hours wandering round the place doing random stuff, dipping in and out of loads of different plot-lines?

You can just do a solid plot line through it, at least so far, i've only just arrived in Mexico. No need to go wandering off as you can take a stage coach to wherever you need to go after a short while as long as you buy the map for the area (and then use it from the menu, that took me a while) from the local shops.

I've got Fallout 3 and the latest GTA and have hardly bothered touching either, so I'm not risking it with this.

It's not that they're bad games, it's just that I can't be arsed with all the pointless stuff.

Yeah, I'm the same.

I think when you've grown up playing loads of really linear games all this free-roaming stuff gets a bit overwhelming.

I think with me it's just that I don't have the time to waste hours on a computer game anymore.

I used to happily spend hours on the old GTA completely ignoring the missions in favour of shooting people up at the airport

I agree Noodle, I need a "quick fix" when it comes to gaming these days.

Take Fallout 3 for example, I got really bored, really quickly. Far too much dialogue and pointless missions to keep me interested.

GTA IV took me 2 years to complete - it was a good game but I just couldn't sit down and get through it in a few sittings because of my busy lifestyle.

Stuff like MW2 and FIFA keep me interested because they're "pick up and play" titles.

I can happily waste hours on a game (providing 'er indoors is out of the house for the duration) but with games like this I always get a nagging worry that I'm not playing it right and missing out on loads of cool stuff due to my short attention span and extreme distractibility.

That's why I like more linear games, where you know it's gonna get better and better so long as you just keep plodding along and by the time you've finished it you'll have played/seen everything there is to play/see.

That happened to me. I just whistled the horse and it bucked him straight off. I then chased him down with the lassoo and dragged him behind the horse across the outback until the little turd went limp.

That'll teach him.

Excellent work. I wish I had thought of that.

Has anyone found any treasure yet? I have a map, and I'm 99 percent certain I have located the exact spot (near Hanging Rock), but there is nothing there. Do I need a fecking shovel or something?

There would also appear to be a bunch of weirdo cannibals in dem thar' hills.

The treasure takes ages to find, it is near hanging rock. You're looking for a pile of yellow rocks, it's on the ground level behind a bush right, i think, on the north side of it.

Look around and it'll say "explore" and then you press triangle and it'll open up.

Thanks for the info, I managed to find it.

I've got the first 5, i think, the first one in mexico was a bitch. Luckily i rode past the landmark it shows on the map by accident whilst dicking around!

Not a clue where the one i have now is though.

Hardly played this yet, done a couple of missions. A couple of things I don't like so far - the stupid camera and the irritating cover system fails from GTA. Would have much preferred it if they'd redesigned these from scratch.

Also, does the computer cheat at poker? I played for like an hour last night and the cnut just kept getting brilliant hands. It also seems to win the pot with an inferior hand to what I have?!

You know i very rarely use the cover system, the regenerating health sort of makes that a bit null in my opinion. Obviously it's useful in multiplayer though.

I've kinda heard of this game's hype but I really don't know it's really worth it.I can get it tomorrow but I'm looking for reasons to do so

To me, in terms of environment, it's the best game I've played. Similar to GTA in terms of structure, but with a much more original (and brilliant) setting. The world looks so real, and the introduction of wildlife, makes it seem extremely alive and dynamic.

I really don't think the cover system fails. Studying your moves, in GTA IV it was possible to do some of the tougher end missions without ever being shot. Found it extremely easy and useful to use in GTA and it's not that bad here - though not as useful seeing as most fights are in more open grounds.
