I said that I'm not sure we should sign him, as perhaps he's not the sort of player that'd make the step up at a bigger club.

Hopefully if we ever do sign him he makes me eat my words.
 
And people were being snobs when we were supposed to be in for Mane... I told you. He would have been a signing on par with Martial. He would have transformed us together with the teenager.

I think he has all the technical and physical attributes plus an eye for a pass that if you put him in a team with a ton of quality players around him he would really shine.

Still not convinced he'd be a good signing for us as I've always thought that his end product was inconsistent but today he picked the right decisions and was brilliant, extremely unlucky not to get the pen and produced a performance that is more than good enough to play for any top club.

I was going to say this, he has an excellent technique that's the thing that I noticed when he was in Austria and in the games against us, he isn't a speed or power merchant, he has speed and power but he is a genuine footballer.

Thank you. No doubt I was ridiculed as usual. Again my foresight is months and sometimes even years ahead.
 
Where are all the knobs now that said it was embarrassing when we made an offer for him? I was one of only a few that was excited about the potential signing.
 
This also proves LvG and our team actually know what they're doing: signed Martial whom everyone was sceptical of for that price and pursued Mané, also someone whom alot of experts on here doubted.

Maybe LvG actually has a better eye for quality than practically everyone else on here eh... farfetched I know, with the great posters of mass brainpower that gather on redcafe ready to get their cocks out only when big names are linked...
 
He is definately good enough to play for us. I would of course prefer Bale or Reus but Mané might be a cheaper and more attainable alternative. We do need a pacy No10 or right winger.

Wouldn't mind the signing if it happened.
 
Yeah no chance of £20-£25m. Of all the players they have had to sell, if he was to go, he'd be the most devastating and therefore expensive as attacking players always are. Be Shaw money, if not more. We are not the only ones who want him too.

Right on that pace and skill through central areas is devastating, field him with better players and great finishers we are in business.

Would be a fantastic addition. There must be about 5 different threads on him because I've been arguing non stop with some posters complaining that he isn't Griezmann. He's not cup tied in the CL and if we're genuinely in with a shout at the title we should seriously be looking at him in January.
 
Where's Ronaldo going to fit into the team if you sign Mane?

The thing, though, is we will never know one way or the other because with these things it's usually a case of being the case of right player, right team and right time. A player like Ji Sung Park, Valencia or VDS could have settled into a career of mediocrity but for being the player the team needed at that particular time. When a player has attributes that a team lacks, he comes in and delivers, he gains a bit of belief and rides on that crest to elevate his game to another level. Mane has got the attributes we are lacking, we have players like Martial, Mata and Schweinsteiger to play with him.....you never know what he'd do in that situation.

United did make a bid for him, so he's hardly just a Caf flavour of the month.
 
He was very good tonight, Chelsea couldn't handle him at all, too fast and powerful, really good assist as well as a goal. His weight of pass and decision making in the final 3rd was good to see.
 
Ed get on the blower and sign him up. 25-35m or what ever just get him on your chopper asap.. No more Rooney..

Yeah possibly. I have nothing against the guy, he looks very good. Just wouldn't surprise me if the scenario I mentioned happens either.

Says who? I saw all the paper talk, but pretty sure Koeman said they hadn't received any bids for him when the window closed.
 
Christ, I hope we have a bid lined up for him in January. He's perfect. Drop Rooney into the upper stands and play Mane in his place.
 
This guy behind martial would be an incredibly scary sight. I mean, if this was to happen, the potential to be up there with the best partnership in pl history? Although, I think he will cost too much after this season.
 
Looked excellent again at times against Chelsea, certainly someone we should perhaps look at a bit more seriously in January.
 
So, where are all the 'know it all'' members who passionately were against any form of intrest ? The guy totally shred the Chelsea defense in pieces today and he is only 23 years. A great talent who would look even greater in a better team for sure.
 
I prefer to see Van Gaal purchase rough diamonds to develop as opposed to 80 millions possible splashes on players like Greizmann, Muller...In saying that the one exception I'd make is Bale but he'd be so crazy expensive that I'd be just as happy if we bought Mane. Mane looks like a Van Gaal type signing and I'd be happy to see it happen next summer if Januzaj is still not quite ready then
