I must know the context of this

Isn't he dating a Japanese porn star or something? Maybe he showed off some of the moves he learned?

Shinji is clearly a new age outlaws fan.

I'm just as excited to see what he can do for us this season, as I was when we signed him last summer.

Did he play much on the right last year? Think he and Rafael could be pretty good down that side once they develop an understanding. Of course, if Rooney leaves, which I think he will, then he can play off Van Persie and establish himself as the best number ten in the league!

Once on the right side of a diamond against Newcastle, and perhaps against a team at home in the CL.

Not a lot though.

Might've played on the right of a diamond v Cluj. Thought that's where he looked least comfortable ad we quickly got into the habit of pointless, harmless passing.

I agree if we can't play him at the 10 playing wide left at least gives him the advantage of coming in on his favoured foot, wide right is even less comfortable for him. Looking forward to how Moyes uses him with or without Rooney.

Get the bastard told MW. The age of consent in Japan is 13, not 12.

Actually, the age of consent thing is a huge mystery here in Japan. No one knows what the actual age is! Not even Japanese people! Some say it's 13, some say it's 15, some say it's 16, some say it's 18. The most interesting answer I've heard so far is that there isn't an actual rule for it, as long as the kid's parents don't sue you. Some people also say that it depends on which prefecture you live in.

Judging by what I've read online, 13 is the actual age of consent, but you are still in danger of being punished if you are not a minor yourself. In other words, you should be very careful if you are older than 18 and choose to sleep with a girl who's not.

Holy shit, we've gone horribly off-topic now:lol:

Yep, me too. Always expected a settling-in season (although the injury added to that), but all the signs are there for a brilliant season.

EDIT: And I really think that if we can add someone like Thiago, Kagawa's contributions will be doubled. On the occasions when he shone at #10 later in the season, he was still having to drop too deep too often for my liking, with no-one effectively linking him and Carrick. Thiago (or someone like him - an in-form, regularly-playing Cleverley might do too) would let him stay near the striker, where he can do most damage.

Shinji Kagawa has admitted to feeling lost during his first season at Manchester United and revealed he would like to return to Borussia Dortmund in the future.

The Japan international moved to Old Trafford last summer but found himself in and out of the side, resulting in a return of six goals in 26 appearances.

Dortmund, meanwhile, reached the Champions League final, where they were beaten by Bayern Munich and Kagawa has refused to rule out playing at Signal Iduna Park again one day.

"Yes, one day I will [return to Dortmund]. If Dortmund are ok with it," he told ‘Foot x Brain’ on TV Tokyo.

The 24-year-old then spoke about his satisfaction at playing under Sir Alex Ferguson in his final season in charge of United.
“I'm happy we won the league but I'm not satisfied with my performance.

"The club has a long history and it was great that I could play in Sir Alex Ferguson's last season.

"At first there were also moments when I felt a bit lost but I tried not to give too much importance on such a feeling."

And Kagawa has also revealed his determination to improve ahead of the upcoming season and also next year's World Cup in Brazil.

"All I can do is keep showing what I can," Kagawa continued.

"I have no excuse any more after a year in the Premier League.

"I know I'm at a place where you can't play if you don't achieve results. I'm determined to do it, also because there will be World Cup.

"It's really an important year for me."

Hopefully him returning to Dortmund is a long way off yet.

He's got a perfectionist attitude and its going to get him far.

Wait, wtf is he constantly beating himself so hard? It's not like he did a Liam Miller or anything in his first season here. Sure he wasn't setting the league on fire, but he made it sound like the management, the teammates, the fans all wrote him off completely. It's so far from being the case. Not to mention he was injured for a chunk of the season as well.

One can say that he's a self-critical perfectionist, but one might also argue that he's acting like a depressed, whiny little bitch who needs to grow up.

I wouldn't worry about the Dortmund comments. He was interviewed, and was asked 'would you ever go back to Dortmund'. He's popular with the fans there, and still feels loyalty to the club. He's not going to say 'dunno, I've kind of taken the step up now haven't I, so why go back?' Like Ronaldo whenever he is asked that question, he gave the polite 'yes, that would be nice some day' answer.

He does seem weirdly down on himself about last season though. I'm willing to bet it went pretty much how Ferguson imagined it - a gradual introduction, a steady finding of his feet, and an eventual move into the position which he will no doubt make his own this season. Was Kagawa expecting to instantly be our very best player?

No need to worry, mate. He's Japanese. They've always got this mentality.

Surprised at the Dortmund comment because said "one day I WILL". But then again, maybe he means it in the "at some point in my career" way rather than anytime soon.

Jesus. Player disappointed with his performances last season, and wants to improve and be a better player = depressed, whiny little bitch who needs to grow up.
Do you read what you've typed before you hit reply?

I wish more players had his attitude.

Yes I do read what I've typed. It's called "opinions," if you're not familiar with the concept. I said while a majority commends his attitude, there's also a school of thought that he needs to stop voicing his 'disappointment', and show us what he thinks he's capable of on the field. That's not a slight on his personality or his attitude, more on the fact that this is the dozenth time he said this in public since the end of the season.

I don't think he can reach that level, playing for Manchester United number 10 as a Japanese if he doesn't have that instilled with him

It takes much more for an asian to perform to play for Manchester United, it takes even much more for them to be noticed at the first place, they have to constantly be at their best (cough.. rooney)

It's a good thing, he has the confidence that he can be one of the biggest stars in our team and is disappointed he hasn't showed it yet.

 Rio says on his fb "I want Shinji waiting for me to take my bags when I get off the plane.."

I though that was a bit racist .

And you are a twat. It's typical of Japanese to show humility, it's how it is.

He came to a massive club and it's taking time for him to settle and adjust.

At the "school of thought" you refer, you are the only pupil and there are no teachers.

Tough crowd.

But that's why what you said was annoying. Being humble, genuinely, is the Japanese way.

You can criticise him for being underwhelming, sure, but don't have a go at him for wanting to perform better. If you think he is being disingenuous, then you are attacking his character.

You're like describing Debra Morgan

Where did I even said that he's not humble? Here's what I said: Shinji, I know you're disappointed about your first season for whatever reason. Probably because of your unbelievably high bar you set for yourself. Good for you. Keep at it. Way to go. But I heard you the first time you voiced it. Great to know you're self-critical and want to thrive and better yourself. We all heard you the first time. Now stop saying it again and again and again and over again. New season is like 3 weeks away, can we look ahead already?

Jesus, what's wrong with what I say? Manusteve, if what I said is annoying to you, tough shit. Deal with it.

Do you think he just wakes up some days and thinks "you know what, I'm going to remind everyone I'm a humble person by telling the media how disappointing last season was"? HE obviously got asked about how he thought last season went every time, and he replied honestly every time...if you don't like hearing it so often you're better off not reading it. Lambasting him for responding appropriately to a specific question is a bit silly.
