Martinez continuously shooting his jab at Ippo in their sparring session was hard to watch :(

Ippo best have done some serious roadwork after that beating
Why more stamina? He needs to work on his basics a lot. A very sloppy fighter.

Just joking. He's always told to do roadwork when he disappoints.

Great decision to make Ippo an in-fighter and go against the grain.

Ha. The guy must be fecked in the brain after all the punches he has taken. Great cardio but more punch drunk then a geordie on a night out.

Yeah, if it was real life, he would have been already blind, have serious brain damage in addition to Parkinson.

He probably got 10 times KO in his first few fights, in addition to hundreds of powerful punches. To his credit though, the round might last anywhere from a few minutes to an entire episode (20 minutes), so it is difficult fighting in those conditions.

I tried One Piece but couldn't get into the. Can't really get into any shows with hundreds of eps. I think the commitment scares me. Plus the fact that I'll almost certainly have to sit through a filler or two.

Try one punch man. It's satire but probably with the best animation ever in an anime. Also genuinely funny which is rare.

I really can't recommend it enough. It's an instant ainme classic with only 12 episodes

Later on in the manga, the author does touch upon blindness and punch drunk for certain characters.

Tried it. Didn't think it was great.

Really? What didn't you like about it?
It's been getting universal praise from everywhere else.
Just didn't think there was anything great about it. Storyline and dialogue is the main thing for me, neither got me in.

Yeah, OPM is a nice satire of how everyone levels up in animes (here they bypassed that) but I didn't think that it was really great. Enjoyable though.

The first episode of Erased was good, really looking forward to episode 2
Really enjoyed the first episode too, and the characters seem likeable so far.
Not thrilled with the synopsis I read for the show, although it will probably still be very good, because it seems like a missed opportunity.

The dialogue is one of its major strengths and it's also hard to say anything about its story because it's barely started expanding beyond introducing characters since its only 12 episodes.

Also it's animation is best in class, makes one piece look like it was drawn by children.

Generally not a fan of those sort of shonen. It'd have to be something really special to keep me watching.

Finished Hajime no Ippo. I thought that the third season was incredibly poor. Ippo's main antagonist was very similar to Bryan Hawk from the previous season, and Hawk was as cartoonish as it is possible to be. Takamura's fight with Eagle was quite good though, but not as good as main fights in the previous seasons.

They also went full politics in the last 4 episodes. We get it, Japan is a fantastic place (so, please for the love of Shinto, don't make Volg say it 100 times the next time we see him) and that a Japanese boxer defeated an evil American one.

The second season was the best in my opinion, with Date Eiji - Ricardo Martinez being the best overall fight in the serie (Eiji-Ippo and Takamura-Hawk being runner ups).

I just saw that the anime has reached only half of the story that it is given on the manga. Still no words for a fourth season, but the tempo of the anime is quite slow so I guess that there are needed 2-3 seasons to reach the point when the manga is.

Which fighter was that? Sawamura?

Planning to watch next Fullmetal Alchemist. But, I just saw that there are two versions of it. The first one which has an original story, and Brotherhood which follows the manga.

Can someone help me and explain the differences between them (no spoilers)? In particular, which one is better, and so, which one should I watch (assuming that they aren't that much different).

Both are good, Brotherhood is better.

Watching Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai right now. Very good.

I have a habit of watching akira with my GF once every 2 weeks.

To change it up a bit i flicked the 3D button on my TV & i got to say after that all anime i watch from now will be 3D.

Absolutely nuts.

Finished the last 4 episodes of one punch man woth it too and the fights were just amazing.

You should watch FA first. Brotherhood is the better one I guess but is very brief in introducing the world and the characters.
Do they tell the same story, or not? If they tell the same story in different ways, my head might explode.

The first one has a slower pace and takes time to develop some things. Towards its end, it has its own ending since there wasn't enough manga material at that time. While the second is the faithful adaptation.

I love the first one because it made me care about the characters (can't say the same of the manga) so there is at least one event that is made more moving in this version.

FMA Brotherhood matches the manga so perfectly step for step, it's almost a frame for frame adaptation. I loved both, although I have friends who won't watch Brotherhood in case it taints the original for them. Their loss!
Manga is better then the anime for me. Both are great though.

Nope, was reading about that a little bit ago though, might check it out.

I don't think I've actually seen anything of that genre, guess it's name has kind of put me off. What is it?
Literally what it means tbh, everyday life. Barakamon is slice of life, give it a go. The comedy in it is very good.

You watched Shigatsu yet?

That's the exact reason I've avoided the genre, it sounds a bit boring. Of course it is probably much better than I'm imagining, so I might watch a classic from the genre just to get into it. Will certainly check out Barakamon as well, I would do now but I've just started Hajime No Ippo and don't want to overdo how much I'm watching ^^

And nope, haven't seen Shigatsu but that's something I was intent on watching but didn't get around to. Soundtracks are a biggie for me and apparently it's a big part of that series so I doubt I can go far wrong watching it. Didn't realise it was slice of life either, probably number one on my watch list from that genre now.
