Entertaining, but not endearing to me. I mean, I kinda understand. I was rooting for Russell Crowe over Christian Bale in 3:10 To Yuma right, I assume that's how people feel when reading/watching Death Note. But I just didn't get that vibe at all from Light.
Rooted for Yagami as well, and Lelouch in Code Geass - guess I like antihero/ villain type protagonists. And they're both very similar type of characters.
That said, L was my favorite character in Death Note, followed by Misa, and then Yagami. Near and Mello couldn't even touch the Yamami vs L rivalry, and it all went downhill once L died. Yagami x L is up there with Goku x Vegeta, Guts x Griffith Naruto x Sasuke, Johan x Tenma, Kenshin x Hajime, and Shizuo x Izaya for lulz - as far as iconic status goes.
Also, speaking of Code Geass - Lelouch is a more detestable character than Yagami. The way he kills Euphie, and the whole Shirley deal was just horrible to watch. Although he did did kind of redeem himself by the end.
EDIT: Am I the only one who didn't like the Penbar's wife bit? For an investigator she sure played right into his hands, and he wasn't even very clever about it. The way Yagami acted was just so suspicious, and it just reeked of a deus ex machina insert to resolve the tension because he essentially dug a hole for himself.

Has anyone seen Wizard Barristers?? Is it any good?
I have only watched three episodes of Wizard Barristers. I quite liked the first mainly for the scenery, there's Ueno Park with its whale sculpture by example, and the tower of Tokyo. And the ending shows different maybe known parts like the Senso-ji temple The first episode was ok, interesting enough, then the two other hinted it wasn't really about trials. Since the second case wasn't convincing at all.
I read this anime was most about fights than trials and the stoty is predictable.

I was wondering a bit how much Lelouch's fate was constructed differently from Light (I mean how much Death Note has influenced Code Geass). From a noble goal, Light was thinking a lot after for his own sake.
Lelouch was still redeemable because he cared about other people, not only Nunally. He knows he has destroyed completely Euphie with his geass, and he regretted it.
He knows he has hurt Shirley.

Haven't watched an anime in about six months but have gotten back into it recently.
One punch man - I started this one cause I loved the concept. The tongue in cheek style is perfect. I couldn't stop laughing when he revealed his secret to his power. I think what impressed me most is how well they handle how powerful he is by giving him human obstacles to overcome. It reminded me a little of hancock in a way, obviously he is much more noble and less of a cockhead, but its fun to watch that mix of super human strength and human vulnerabilities.
Mushishi season 2 - Overall probably ranks as one of my favourite animes and one of the few I'd call beautiful. I usually skip all the generic anime pop openings because its all the same bollocks and I find they rarely ever fit the series but Mushishi gets it right. And just the whole poigant nature of it makes for great viewing. Plus ginko is just awesome.
Gosick - Watching this one now and am about four episodes in. Loving the gothicy sherlock influence. Veronica works really well as a troubled child genius and its fun watching her piece everything together. The main kid is a pretty generic pile of wank so far but I have a good feeling I'm gonna really enjoy this one.

I've been watching through House Of Cards lately and it strikes me that the main character has quite a bit of a Light air about him. Expecting that he's going to meet a similar fate in the end.

I am not sure, my preferences tend to change after a while and I usually like better some insert songs. There are some songs I haven't watched the anime or only few episodes. These are some of the ops/eds I listen.
That's one I don't plan to watch since it's supposed to be incredibly slow.
Just song like. They usually sound more to me like way to sell other products and not that related to the anime. Two I think were well done are the end of Anohana because of its nostalgic tone and the op of Hanayamata that shows well the enthusiasm and group spirit of a female club. They both capture the atmosphere of their anime.

Where is the anime up to with Naruto Shippuden?
Still in the Jiraiya: Tale of Naruto filler arc. Canon-wise Madara's just bound everyone in Infinite Tsukuyomi.

I think it's better to make a new thread because there'll mostly be spoilers since every manga is ahead of the anime and I assume there might be more people like who just watch anime

I noticed there's gonna be a new Berserk in 2016, I'm pretty pumped for it. The ending to the original was devastating. It was an awesome conclusion but to "end" it there left me really frustrated, can't wait to see where it goes after that.

Saw a clip of the new Berserk and the animation looked quite shoddy, with the dodgy CGI.
Gonna cheat a bit with fmab. Also, I can't say it's my top list, but all of em are pretty darn enjoyable.

When I think about the breadth of it, Hiromu Arakawa kinda blows my mind
I remember now too that I was totally in awe of her by the time I finished it..I really like Beck. A lot probably depends on whether you enjoy the soundtrack or not but the dingy underground music scene makes for a great setting. One problem is that whether you choose the dub or sub version you have to sacrifice something. All the songs are in English so in the japanese dub you get butchered pronunciation, which makes sense (the characters can't speak English, they just memorise the songs) but is a little hard to listen to. On the other hand the cultural difference between the characters who speak English and those who don't is a plot point that gets completely lost in the English dub.
Lain is an experience. I'm not sure I could really say that I enjoyed it but it's interesting if nothing else. Give it a go if you don't mind shows that go out of their way to be incomprehensible.

Would you say it's good right off the bat? Watched the first episode or two and it was alright. Ended up blitzing One Piece till 110 instead and haven't got round to continuing ERASED yet.
