Couture is 45 years old according to Wikipedia(Birthday: June 22,1963) and his last was at UFC 74 on August 24th, 2007 against Gabriel Gonzaga.

My body feels old after I go running or work out and I am only 24. His body has to be held together by duct tape and glue. It is very impressive that he is fighting at the highest level at such an age. He must have kept his body in excellent shape over the years.
Couture proved he only cares about the money for tucking his tail between his legs and going back to the UFC.
I disagree at least in part.
At almost 46 years old, his time is now. he can't be locked in a courtroom for the next few years and not fighting.
As for going back to the UFC, the UFC is the only organization that is profitable, meaning all the others may very well fold in the coming year or two, including Affliction.
From the comments made by Dana White, he seems to think Fedor and the other starts will have to eventually migrate to the UFC rather than staying with these "fly by night" organizations.
I understand he needs to fight, but he talked so much shit about the UFC for so long. About how they were ripping him off, paying him terrible money, saying White was crooked, etc, etc.. And then he shows up all smiles, parading his new 3 fight contract around.
He made himself out to be the first fighter (Arlovski being the second) to stand up against the UFC and their bullshit contracts that are basically illegal under the Muhammad Ali rule. Then he just throws up the white flag once they offered him the amount of money he was after. His whole "quitting" scheme was a way to get more money for himself, nothing more, nothing less.....
Why is that "throwing up the white flag"?
Because he went on and on about how they were unfair. And not just the pay outs. He complained about the UFC's right to drop fighters at any notice, to extend their contracts without permission whenever they wanted to, to take a substantial cut of any monies generated by marketing, etc....
They give him some more money and then all those others complaints disappear like they never existed.
I don't blame randy for wanting more money and holding out for it, but don't try to portray yourself as someone who's fighting the good fight for the fighters.

That was some knock out by Rashad on Chuck. I thought he was going to be seriously injured at one stage.
In general, UFC 88 was quality. It was great to see Franklin winning again. Ironically he has a better chance of winning the title in the light heavyweights that in the middleweights because it does not contain Anderson Silva. Franklin v Forrest would be a great matchup in my opinion.
Marquardt's knockout of Kampmann was also superb. If he can get a good win against a contender in his next fight he may get another shot at Anderson Silva.
Is it just me or did Dan Henderson look shit? I know he won but he looked fairly limited when fighting Palhares who was fairly limited himself. He didn't look like he had much to offer. In my opinion, 3 bad fights in a row for Henderson. He doesn't look great at all.

I cannot believe that Lesnar is getting a shot at Randy. Pure money making tactics by Dana White and it has really annoyed me. What the hell has Lesnar done to be awarded a shot at the title? He has had two fights in the UFC, both of which have shown him to be extremely limited. Other fighters deserved a shot before Lesnar.
It'll be interesting to see if Randy now fight Fedor. Fedor is now allowed to fight him, even in the UFC. That'd be quality.

Dan Hardy, who went out to the US with Michael Bisping to train under jiu jitsu expert Eddie Bravo in advance of his UFC debut against Akihiro Gono in Birmingham next month, is very, very confident.
“Eddie is great. The good thing about him is his understanding of how the sport works, and exactly how useful jiu jitsu is. You have to be flexible to do it, a rubber guard is perfect for MMA. He calls his techniques interesting names, and we had long talks after our sessions. It’s nice to be working with someone who knows the ground game so well,” Hardy tells me.
While Bisping remains the flagship fighter from Britain in UFC, Hardy could yet sneak in through the backdoor – well, almost - and become the first UK fighter to be a UFC belt holder. “That would be awesome. That’s my main goal - to be the first British title holder. I’m chasing Michael Bisping who is way ahead of me right now, but there’s no reason why one of us can’t take a belt in the next couple of years. The key is that we are a bit behind the fighters in the US on a technical level and in the quality of training, but that’s why I’m happy to go abroad to be able to bring the level up.”
The British pair have been working mainly on wrestling and jiu jitsu “because we don’t have the tradition of it in the UK” unlike the US, which has wrestling as a major sport, even through High School grades.
“We are always going to be outclassed by the level of training they have out there. GSP [George St Pierre, the current UFC welterweight champion] never wrestled at high school but has dominated wrestlers in the cage. We need to be willing to put the time in, and we need to travel to do that. If we get the top guys coming to train UK fighters, we will see huge leaps in the standard of British MMA.”
But surely Hardy must look at Georges St Pierre – and freak out!
“Sure, he’s a fantastic athlete – but I think he and John Fitch both exposed each other a bit when they fought – and he’s more human than I thought before. GSP has cracks in his superhuman façade.”
But first things first, back to his debut. “Gono is the opponent, and the fans are going to see him go home in tears. The UFC have given me a huge opportunity against Gono. I have fought in Japan a few times. He’s coming a long way to get beaten.”
Hardy also told me that Joe Rogan is no mug – and he knows his onions – in the Octagon, that is, with both microphone, and skills: “Joe Rogan – he is a beast in jiu jitsu, unbelievable. I trained with him a few times, we talk whenever we see each other. He’s so strong, he became a brown belt under Eddie Bravo. It’s not a myth – he’s the real deal – and dangerous because he can talk and fight.”
Hardy is also under no illusions - he's in for a difficult debut against Gono, an experienced opponent, on October 18. In the broadest terms, Hardy sees this as a technical, exciting fight. But he also told me it is “a gift”. That’s confidence for you, against 47-fight MMA artist against a UFC neophyte.

i actually had a chat with dan today about how he thinks he would approach a fight with gsp...
hes in super shape right now... just come back fom some training in vegas with the couture camp as well as traing with eddie bravo... his striking is sharp... hes got heavy old hands on him and i think hes got the ground game and striking to go up against anybody... hes also training with leicester tigers and says that has been helping with his wrestling (lots of explosive training)...
dans got a 4 fight deal (he turned down a 3 fight deal... and also turned ufc down 7 fights ago as well to get the deal he wanted)... they are ranking him 17th and his 1st fight is against Gono who is ranked 10th...
should he win that and his subsiquent 2 fights ( i think serra would be a good opponent for one of those) then id hope he could get either fitch or gsp in his 4th fight...
as for the tickets... well they cost me a lot less than they should have done and lets leave it at that...

Anderson has said a lot of things in the last while that have kept him in the news, but I actually believe him this time....
unless he steps up a weight or unless gsp steps up to his weight there isnt a lot left for him to prove...
