UFC 95: London, February 21

Just hit my inbox about 40 minutes ago; the UFC will return to the O2 Arena in London on February 21. Fight Club presale starts on the 17th of this month, with tickets available to the public starting on the 21st.

I find it quite interesting that an event has been announced without so much as even one official match-up to anchor it. A ballsy move by the UFC, for sure - especially in this economic climate.

Anyone care to have a guess at who we'll se on the fight card?

Rumor has it that it could possibly be Anderson Silva v Chuck Liddell - going to throw every penny I have at this one, possibly the only time Anderson Silva will fight in th UK if the rumors are true...

Chuck v Silva would be a great main event.

I've noticed before that the PPVs that occur outside America seem to be a lot less stacked that the ones over there. Only 2 fights have still been announced for Dublin, Franklin v Henderson and Coleman v Rua. That is only two months away and that's it?

I could imagine people like Huerta, Koscheck and maybe someone like Sean Sherk on the card. There won't be anymore than two big name quality fights.

Scrap all that. I was just looking at the official UFC website for the UFC 93 card. There have actually been other matches announced for Dublin.

Main event:

205 lbs.: Rich Franklin (24-3) vs. Dan Henderson (23-7)

Main card (Televised):

205 lbs.: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (16-3) vs. Mark Coleman (15-8)
185 lbs.: Denis Kang (31-10-1) vs. Alan Belcher (13-5)*
170 lbs.: Marcus Davis (15–4) vs. Chris Lytle (26-16–5)*

Under card (May not be broadcast):

205 lbs.: Ivan Serati (10-2) vs. Tomasz Drwal (14-2)*
205 lbs.: Andre Gusmao (5-1) vs. Antonio Mendes (15–3)*

i think the big problem that a 7pm start here is a 11am start on the west coast in the states...

my mrs is american and over there here ju jitsu club get together and they all go round somebodys house and have a big ufc party that goes on into the early hours...

but that does not happen at 11am... at 11am they are doing stuff with the family...

so as the usa is where they generate most of their revenue it seems that ppv over here will either become destined to start at 3am our time which i cant see venues like the o2 agreeing to or alternativley we are going to get pretty poor cards...

if we got a card with bisping fighting somebody, huerta fighting somebody and hardy vs koscheck id be very sattisfied with that

Agree completely.

I was just looking through some of the upcoming cards. The fight that I think would be the most exciting will be at UFC 94 when Thiago Silva fights Lyota Machida. I'd nearly regard these as the two best light heavyweights. Whoever wins will undoubtedly get a shot at Forrest if he is still champion.

still when you consider there are 5 divisions therefore 5 champions who should all be fighting 3 times a year... plus the top 2 or 3 contenders in each division who should also be fighting 3 times a year thats 15 championship bouts + 45 very high quality contender bouts... so 60 very good fights per year... or 5 per month... you would think they could put a better card than that on

That's for sure. I notice though that fighters, especially champions, fight a loss less in the UFC that they did in other promotions. Champions seem to only fight twice a year. Fighters should be able to fight at least 5 times a year.

What did you think of UFC 91 anyway? I thought it was brilliant. There were so many short fights that they had to show practically every undercard fight. Only one fight that they showed went the distance.

Yeah I enjoyed last night, enjoyed the Dustin Hazelett v Tamdan McCrory fight, Gonzaga shown why he is considered one of the top fighters in his division.

I really believed Stevenson would beat Florian before the fight, there is something I love about him, think its his persistence & refusal to stop, but he didnt stand a chance the second Florian reacted to being show his back.

The Brock fight, I feel Randy lost it as appose to Lesnar winning it, Couture's game plan was working, then he split Lesnars eye which affected his vision & you just though it was going Coutures way, but then he give Lesnar a free shot at the side of his head - one things for sure, once Lesnar starts with his hammer-fists the fight is over.

Yea I agree. I know Florian was big favourite but I thought that Stevenson would have had a great chance when it went to the ground. Florian didn't give him a second though. Florian looked fantastic. It'll be interesting to see him square off against BJ.

Yea Randy was doing ok against Lesnar before giving him that free shot. That's the thing though, if Lesnar catches you once you're fecked. It didn't even look that good a punch but Lesnar is just massive. I don't know what to make of Brock - I don't know whether he is overly cocky or he is just confident. He showed great respect after his loss against Mir and his win last night but he acted like a cock after beating Herring.

Hazelett and McCrory was a fantastic fight. Both are really young also, 22 I think. They have great futures.

Gonzaga looked great again. Sometimes he looks great, sometimes he looks terrible. I didn't think much of his opponent though. He looled completely unfit and he was unable to cope at all with Napao.

Meia looked brilliant against a dangerous opponent in Quarry. He called out Bisping as well. I honestly don't think Bisping would have a chance against Meia. Meia looks well able to stand but once it goes to the ground he has a distinct advantage over practically everyone. He submitted Quarry with ease.

Jeremy Stephen's uppercut on dos Anjos was frightening. That was some knockout.

i disagree with that... i think 3 is reasonable... 4 would be very severly pushing it to be at your best...

i have trained with dan hardy and believe me 5 fights a year would not be possible... he has a 14 week cycle he uses to prepare for fights to be in his best shape... and its tough within that physical work to still make the time to actually improve technique etc as well... but 3 seems a reasonable amount to me

Fair enough.

Plenty of Rumors suggesting Silva v Liddell for UFC 95 London after yesterdays announcement.

Our sources tell us that the UFC are in the process of finalizing the main event for UFC 95 in London, and it'll be Chuck Liddell taking on Anderson Silva in a light heavyweight bout.

as long as dan gets a good fight i'll be happy...

Should fall just about the right time for him to fight again wont it, would be an excellent card to feature on as the amount of viewers will be massive - a good show there will escalate him right up the ranks.

yeah... hopefully serra or koscheck...

serra would be good... 2 heavy hitters...

though i think koscheck would be a great fight for him and give him the chance to show his power

Would he be at that level? I never realised?

Would he be at that level? I never realised?

he should be...

they gave him a 4 fight deal whenhe signed...

they only gave lesnar a 3 fight deal initially...

perhaps he needs another fight for the americans to see what he can do?... maybee that guy that beat paul kely up last time???

wait to see whats going to be on at 100!!! rumors are there may be 3 or 4 titles on the line!!!!

Sounds good. The fighter you are talking about that beat Kelly was Marcus Davis. He is fighting at UFC 93 in Dublin against Chris Lytle.

You'd pick Evans, Mir and Jackson? Interesting picks? Why would you choose them? They all look like they could be very close.

yes id agree they could be close...

i think mir is the best heavyweight outside of fedor... and i just have a feeling that hes back properly after his injury and he has a lot to prove... he certainly has the talent and i think being the slight underdog will suit him

evans... again close but i like him... hes aggressive and "that punch" showed just what he can do when it clicks...

im going for jackson over silva just because ive never been massivley impressed by silva (dont get me wrong i wouldnt want to fight him... but he does not move well and he leaves his head there to be hit)

Fedor wants superfight with Brock Lesnar

M-1 would like to congratulate Brock Lesnar on his UFC heavyweight title victory as well as acknowledge Randy Couture's return to active competition after a layoff that lasted over a year.

Couture and WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko had publicly acknowledged a desire to fight each other multiple times over the course of the past year. While M-1 and Fedor remain interested in a match against Couture, we would also like to publicly state for the record that we would welcome a superfight between Fedor and Lesnar that would be held as a co-promoted event between the UFC, M-1, and Affliction Entertainment.

Jerry Millen, M-1 Global’s American Vice President, issued a statement following the interview that welcomed an Emelianenko vs. Lesnar fight, however grim the chances of its fruition are at the moment.

“We would welcome a Fedor vs. Lesnar matchup, but to act in a preemptive fashion to address the possibility that UFC officials will try and position Lesnar as the No. 1 heavyweight in the world, much like they have tried to use a marketing ploy to brand Anderson Silva as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world,” the statement read. “In a match between Fedor and Lesnar, we do not feel that at this stage Lesnar would be able to make it out of the first round.”

Really? Easy win for Evans I'd say.

Evans is a slow starter and seems to weigh up his opponent in the first round. He comes back on strong in the second and third.

But a championship fight will be 5 rounds. Forrest can definately go for the 5 rounds, it'll be interesting to see if Evans has that kind of stamina.

Forrest only seems to start to get going after being punched in the face a few times. Then he is immense.

I can't pick the winner either. Rashad is the more equipped with skills but Forrest's heart is second to none. Forrest isn't without skills either as his win against allegedly the best light heavyweight in the world Shogun is anything to go by.

I can't wait for this fight.
