Forrest only seems to start to get going after being punched in the face a few times. Then he is immense.

I can't pick the winner either. Rashad is the more equipped with skills but Forrest's heart is second to none. Forrest isn't without skills either as his win against allegedly the best light heavyweight in the world Shogun is anything to go by.

forrest is good at evrything and outstanding at nothing...

evans needs to cintroll the fight and exploit the fact that he is exceptional at striking...

imo the person who is best at judging distance and timing will always win when on their feet...

if he can keep it there he should win and his ground game seems string enough to resist evans... who whilst probably a bit better isnt exceptional enough to overcome a good defence

i think dan knows there is little point in him fighting uk based people as hes spending most of his time in the states these days so wants more sponsership etc over there

Instead, we can reveal matchmaker Joe Silva is considering offering the Brazilian a fight with the loser of one of the two big light heavyweight clashes taking place at UFC 92 on December 27.

That line up sees reigning 205lbs champion Forrest Griffin defend his title against Rashad Evans, while Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson faces Wanderlei Silva for a third time.

will probably be an explosive affair!
 
I just recently started following the actual UFC, having watched The Ultimate Figthter for a while now (and re-watched all the seasons a few times). I feel a little dirty, it's like I'm not really a UFC fan since it came from watching TUF. I'm still trying to figure out everyone not TUF-related, and inevitably my biggest "heroes" are my favorites from TUF. Been downloading some UFCs that had people I liked in it, and it's starting to get me up to speed with other people as well.

A little embarrassingly, watching the UFC has made me decide I want to start up my kickboxing again. I'd like to try MMA, but there's no real MMA community in Norway, and what there is is in the south... those feckers.

Reading what I wrote, it sounds a bit like an AA introduction.

watch some of the early ones... ufc 1 or 2 etc just to see the changes and developments...

ufc92 coming up will be good to watch...

other than that use the ufc.com playback facility...

florian... excelent muay thai skills... can grapple a bit too...

sherk... i dont rate him that highly but he does keep on winning

UFC 95 - London show sells over 4,000 tickets so far

The UFC’s next event in England is already selling well with over 4,000 tickets sold so far without a single fight even being announced.

UFC 95 is set to take place at the O2 arena in London and it would appear that the sport is so popular in the UK that the promotion can sell tickets on their brand name alone.

Rumoured to make an appearance on the fight card is middleweight champion and the best pound for pound fighter on the planet, Anderson “The Spider” Silva and the UK’s fastest rising talent Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy.

MMABay have learnt that a major announcement is just around the corner which will send fans that do not have tickets scrambling for what’s left.

Dont know much about this Markham but he has got a very good reputation according to the media sources - be a tougher fight than Gono.

Dan Hardy’s next opponent in London at UFC 95 on February 21st is Rory Markham. The relatively unknown fighter knocked out Brody Farber in the first round of his fight at UFC: Silva vs Irvin. As well as this, he has racked up a further 9 first round KO/TKO wins to make up part of his 16-4-0 record. Markham obviously possesses KO power, but this is never likely to phase “The Outlaw”. Hardy is ranked as European number one in the highly respected Ground and Pound European Top Ten, and himself holds no fewer than 10 KO victories. Dan is a well respected and devastating kick boxer, but has also won 4 of his fights by submission.

One thing is for sure, regardless of the outcome, if the rumours are true, fists will fly come February 21st.

 
i think the fight may actually suit dan a little more...

hes happy trading blows and his ground game is much underated...

still this guy looks dangerous and with kicks like that its easy to see why he has such a high ko ratio :eek:

i think dan will look to take him down... dans wrestling and ju jitsu is massivley underated...

they are both great strikers so i think he will hopefully use his head and take it to the ground...

but if they stand and trade i done see it going 3 rounds

also markham has done kyokushin karate... one think ive learned is not to trade too many blows with those guys!!!

BJ Penn, Georges Saint-Pierre are the two best fighters in the UFC currently.

If you want the show stopper, google up Fedor Emelienenko. Check out any of his highlight reels. The most amazing thing you will ever seen in any combat sport awaits you.

When you see a super muscular black dude with bleached out hair that is Kevin Randleman pay attention. He is a two time NCAA Div1 national champion in wrestling, those are serious wrestling credentials. What he does to Fedor with the "Randleplex" is nothing short of astonishing, made even more astonishing by what happens within the next 10 or 15 seconds.

dana has actually muted rumors that if gsp defeats bj there may be a superfight of gsp vs silva... (might be silvas last fight at middleweight)...

but id say silva is the best fighter... his ju jitsu is great... its just that is striking is so good he often doesnt need to use it

He got mounted by Travis Lutters.

Travis Lutters is a B-level fighter. Silva is a great fighter, but you cannot call him the best in the UFC when he has one notable win, and the guy he beat while tough as nails, is as dumb as nails, and chose to trade with Silva after a dominating him on the ground in the first round.

There is a reason Silva is fighting cans at HW and GSP has been thrown around as a possible opponent, 185 is the worst division bar none in the UFC and probably ALL of MMA.

The two best divisions are easily WW and LW and GSP and BJ are on another level in those divisions. They are dominating VERY good fighters, while Silva is dominating a division with very AVERAGE fighters.

Silva had two tremendous wins against Rich Franklin who himself is a superb fighter. It's not Silva's fault that his competetion isn't as strong as in the other divisions. Silva is absolutely brilliant. He makes the other fighters look average. So what if Lutter mounted him? I've seen GSP and BJ mounted? Silva still beat Lutter.

I alluded to Hendo.

Rich Franklin is not good.

Hendo if he wasn't dumber than shit would have beaten Silva. Instead of shooting and controlling Silva like he did in the first round, he decided to stand and trade with him in the second.

Other than Hendo there are ZERO notable fighters that Silva has beaten in the UFC. The idea that Rich Franklin is a good fighter stems from the fact he was the top of the weakest division in all of MMA.

If you are in a shit parade and you just happen to be the best looking shit, guess what, you're still a turd.

Now I am not saying Rich Franklin is a turd, but in relative terms, if he is the SECOND best guy or even the THIRD in the MW division then that division is garbage.

Silva is good, obviously. He is not the best in the UFC he needs an actual test to prove that and when he does get tested I expect him to get exposed.

Speaking of exposing, Silva looked god awful against Cote who is JUST north of being a can.

Nobody said he wasn't good. He isn't the best in the UFC. To suggest that is silly. He hasn't proven it against the calibre of people GSP and BJ have. Those guys are out there fighting VERY good to WORLD CLASS people every time. Silva is fighting guys like Travis Lutter a B-Level fighter, or Rich Franklin (Who is so far from behind superb) Patrick Cote, some no-name LHW.

Silva if he moves to LHW will get fecking wrecked.

He will never fight Machida, they are buddies. However. Rampage would kill him. Evans would kill him. Shogun (if he gets healthy and in shape would kill him) The list goes on. What is even more remarkable is that LHW is Silvas NATURAL division. He walks around above 220 in the "offseason", cleans up his diet to lose the excess so that his water cut to 185 isn't enormous. Rich Franklin does the same shit by the way.

These guys are not only cutting weight, they are skipping an entire division so they can fight at a much lighter weight and fight much smaller guys. They are not the only ones that do it, but they are amongst the biggest offenders.

Take BJ for example, he doesn't even want to fight at LW his natural division because he feels it is too easy. Take GSP, he walks around right at 185~ so he cuts down a single division so he doesn't fight guys that outweigh him naturally by 40 pounds.

the ufc fighters and trainers I know rate Silva as the best all rounder... suppose they are wrong as well...

Cutting 30 pounds is not standard. The only people in MMA that cut 30 pounds are a select group of LHW's. Forrest and Tito are two examples. They cut down to 205 and cut around 30 pounds. Those are two of the biggest weight cutters in all of MMA. Silva and Rich also cut around 30 pounds but they cut the 30 so they can drop past LHW to MW.

I'd like you to name and list these trainers and fighters because frankly I think you are full of shit. Any fighter or trainer worth his salt is going to name ONE guy as the best P4P and he isn't in the UFC. I'll give you one guess who that fella might be.

Anderson Silva is a great fighter, he deserves to be ON a P4P list, he does not yet deserve to be at the TOP of a P4P list. BJ Penn and GSP both have earned the right by fighting very tough and very good fighters repeatedly and not just beating them, destroying them.

Silva's reputation as the best P4P fighter is a concoction of the UFC because they don't have Fedor. There I gave it away. Every top fighter and trainer in the UFC has in the past and present called Fedor the top fighter.

Silva is Chuck Liddell MK II. He has fought a string of guys tailor made for him so he can score highlight reel knock out after highlight reel knockout. When he faced a B-Level fighter with very good BJJ, he got mounted and had Lutters been in a better frame of mind (he had just missed weight and lost his chance to claim the title had he won) he very likely would have finished the fight there. Against Henderson who is a good tough fighter known to be more balls than brains, he got taken down and DOMINATED for one round before Hendo's balls got too big and he figured "Hey! I knocked Wandy the feck out I'll do it here too!". We know how that ended.

I train with Dan Hardy of team roughouse... hes usuually 2 stone over till a couple of weeks before the fight... takes about half off in the 2 weeks and cuts about a stone for weigh in...

he says its standard...

i trai with his ju jitsu and muay thai coaches...

he trains at extreme couture and with eddie bravo...

he tells me that all the guys he knows place silva as a cut above the others...

penn and gsp are great fighters... and their divisions are probably tougher than middleweight... but silva is the most rounded...

either everybody else in the world is wrong or your wrong about that... and my money aint on you

Not everyone thinks Silva is the best in the UFC. Most people I know and the knowledgeable people who post on Sherdog don't think he is. Sherdog is a cesspit but you figure out who knows their shit pretty quick.

fedor vs lesnar???

cant see it happening as there seems a lot to loose for the ufc

gosh i can still remember gracie in his gi... no rounds and all that malarkey...

well rumours abound for ufc with 4 or 5 titles being on the line that night...

could be an amazing night...

should be around april / may next year i guess

Yeah, but it will never happen. We all know Dana is way too smart to put his champion in a ring with Fedor. Only to get destroyed and then have Fedor leave with the belt. Dana won't ever co-promote unless he's forced to by the Fertitta's.

Hopefully it will be a night of Champions with all of the holders putting their titles on the line.

or unless he thinks he can use the fight to lure fedor...

though apparently the main stumbling blocks are the image rights and that he wouldnr allow fedor to compete in the sambo championships...
