Sakho is not a better CB than Vertonghen. Mahrez would obviously be good as a squad addition, but I don't see who he'd replace in our first XI ... and he'd cost too much money for just a squad option.
Obviously i disagree with you on the Sakho point and Mahrez would stroll into that spurs side, their isnt a player who can produce the sort of stuff he can that's fit.
No offense, but you're only as good as your last season
Did you also think that about Hazard before last season? Anyways Mahrez looks in great nick so far this season.
No you've made the mistake of thinking this Spurs team can be improved :nono: they are perfect
Seems Spurs fans think only a Neymar or a Messi could improve them, shocking really. I'd expect that attitude from a Bayern fan not a Spurs one.

Marhrez doesnt fit in with our style of play and while I wouldn't have minded us getting him, I don't believe we had any interest. He is defensively non existent and reports suggest he's constantly late for training and not exactly the hardest working. I mean Roma are hardly the biggest team in Europe but even they wouldn't push the boat out to sign him. As for Sakho, I don't rate him at all, his stunk out Liverpool and while improved at Palace I think that's his level.

I'm really pleased with our signings to be honest just wish it was next weekend already, just a shame about Barclay's injury but hopefully we will get him cheaper in January.

Vertonghen was one of the best CB's in the league last term, for me he outplayed Alderweirld particularly towards the end of the campaign. Sakho wouldn't displace him or Alderweirld, argument could be made for Dier should they persist with the 3 at the back system and evidence suggests that they will. Then again I think Dier's best position is DM anyway.

Really is quite a conundrum finding a player whom Spurs could both afford to buy and would improve the first 11. Can't think of any in truth.

He's no worse than Eriksen defensively.

He wanted to sign for a club that could register more than two homegrown players in their Champions League squad. A club that gives youth their chance.

So this is what you've been reduced to ... claiming that a 17-year old kid would have improved our Prem squad?

He would have been signed as very talented prospect for the future and no more than that.

How have I said that? Is this what you've been reduced to? The paranoid ramblings of a madman? I think that may have happened some time ago. I was just saying that Sancho went to a club with a better record at promoting youth.

Well, you replied to a post that suggested that.

City refused to let him go to a Prem rival - the club that was his first preference - and preferred that he went abroad. End of story.

I wasn't aware that replying to a post that suggested something meant you agreed with a different statement that went before it. That's a real stretch of comprehension. He couldn't have been that keen or he could've refused to move like Ross Barkley did. End of story.

How did Man City stop a player who hadn't signed a professional contract from going to Spurs by the way?

Off the top of my head there are a few players Spurs could have attained that would slot right into their first 11.

Krychowiak is an upgrade on Dier

Douglas Costa went to Juventus for the same money as The young Cb they bought

Keita Balde is another one.

That's not the point and you know it. Of course if we signed Messi or Neymar (for example) they would improve us. The question is: which players could we both attract and afford who would improve us?

Tough question without you suggesting how much money we're talking about.

I do get your point though.

If half of your team were currently playing for other clubs you wouldn't have a hope of attracting them or affording them.

Or player thought he will develop into better player at Dortmund than at Spurs.

I'm surprised that they haven't offered Alderwiereld a new contract.

Think they have offered, but not in the wage area that he deserves/feels he deserves, so he's thus far rejected what they're offering.

Spurs better get used to paying what these players are worth or this will become a familiar story.

I'd say one more good season and Kane, Alli and Eriksen should all be on 200k - in fact, if we're honest, they could all easily be on that already elsewhere.

Yeah, that's what they are waiting for. After the World Cup, Spurs will re-assess their spine and provide improved contracts to those who remain. I'm guessing one of Eriksen and Alli will leave, so will one of the CBs and possibly Rose. Hence the purchase of young CBs and going after Barkley.

Cool 3 minute video showing how (the technology etc.) in our new stadium there will be two pitches - one for NFL games (and entertainment events) and one (retractable + real grass) for football

That looks quite good.
Wonder if any of the US football/soccer stadium have them. Though bit of a maintenance headache i suppose.

University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona has it and it's really neat. However, the amount of natural and warm sunshine makes the grass/pitch for the NFL team the best. It's not exactly all sunshine and peaches in London during the winter ya know...so it'll be interesting.

That's the whole pitch right there. Some effort that. Just slide your pitch in. Can do an open session outside the stadium if they fancy it.

A retractable pitch seems so pointless.

The point is to allow NFL games and entertainment events to take place in the same stadium without damaging the football pitch.

The pitch is just part of the entire venue, which is based off the USA model of having a multi-purpose, year-round venue. You protect the pitch and can separately manicure it while still using the area/surface...for example during NFL games, practices, etc.

The point is to allow NFL games (and entertainment events) to take place in the same stadium without damaging the football pitch. And also to allow fans to be the closest possible to the action for both types of game.

I understand why it's there but it's a lot of hassle just to host a few NFL games or whatever.

You're right, it's adding a lot to the total stadium cost, but the long-term aim is to permanently host an NFL franchise.

That may or may not happen, but Levy is gambling that it will, which is why everything (not just an NFL pitch, but an entire suite of separate NFL facilities) is being put in place to make it possible ... and to make it possible without impacting negatively on Spurs as a football club in any way.

If does happen it will be hugely lucrative for Spurs. But even if doesn't, even if it's just a few NFL games each year, there are still also the various entertainment events - rock concerts etc - that will be enabled.

I think it's mostly for advertising/commercial revenue. Hosting NFL games and other big events means whatever brand buys naming rights, etc. Gets that much more exposure meaning those naming rights are that much more expensive. Also likely gives the Spurs "brand" extra exposure as well.

Vincent Janssen loaned out to Fenerbache apparently. feck, I wanted him to get lots of minutes for Spurs.

Llorente in for Janssen is super business.

I think you're best placed to and there are quite a few people in the NFL who are dead keen on getting a franchise out here, so I definitely see it happening.

I still wonder if this will be detrimental to the football pitch turf, I'm no groundsman of course, but it would require a hell of a lot more maintenance to keep it as a top class pitch.

Luckily Spurs won lottery with Kane, their strikers signing since Berbatov is very average.

Coming along nicely:

Nice demonstration but as always with Spurs, it's a bit on the cheap - the video's 720p and there's at least 1 typo in the explanation.
