What claim was that?
That it was me who changed the thread direction.
What claim was that?
I haven't said that Spurs are a "huge draw". I simply maintain that we are:
* An attractive club who generally have little trouble attracting talented players - as a glance at the list of arriving players over the years clearly shows.
* Don't need to compete in the transfer market with clubs that chase big names for big money.
I entirely fail to see why these simple propositions attracts so more angst, ire and small-time criticism from some opposition fans.
*Spurs have little trouble attracting players that the bigger clubs don't want or care about.
*Don't have the means to compete in the transfer market with clubs that chase big names for big money.
That's closer to the truth isn't it?
I loved Poch's reaction in the press conference before today's game when he laughed at a question and mocked the questioner for an obsession with trophies. Kind of points at weird priorities - shouldn't a manager of a big club be obsessed with trophies?
If a United manager had tgat reaction to a question, I would be very worried. Trophies are the entire point.

As for Liverpool and Arsenal, other than wages I don't see either of them teams being a much bigger draw for a player than Spurs.
* Check the number of posts on here from United fans who'd like the club to sign Eriksen, Alderweireld, Alli, Rose, Son etc. That's not including the likes of Bale, Modric and others.
* Don't currently have the means because we've poured/are pouring not far short of 1 billion pounds into our new training centre and new stadium complex. But we've been doing fine in the transfer market regardless of this.
Context mate.
Those players were unknown quantities when they signed for Spurs. Nobody challenged you for their signatures, not with any degree of conviction in any case. That they have become top of the market players is down to Spurs' outstanding coaching methods more than anything else. Or they were simply lucky finds.
Yes but that's because he feels he isn't ready for Barca yet. Anyone in their right mind would never choose Spurs over the likes of Barca when the said player is in his prime. It shows he had a choice and chose Spurs:
"For me, Barcelona has always been one pf the best in the world but the conditions I was going to arrive to were not the best. Luckily, a decision was taken based on football, not on marketing."

Although they each barely win anything, they both still win a lot more trophies than Spuds do.
And what trophy are you going for?
I think we have as good a chance as any of the top 6 of attracting young talents around the world, including those sought after by our rivals. This is because younger players can see a good shot at first team football under a manager who develops players (Davinson Sanchez is a good example who we beat Chelsea to) - our problem comes when we look for more established 'top level' players who would expect to start at most clubs - then it comes down more to wages and likelihood of titles, cups, etc. that's when Spurs struggle.
And now many wish they had ... but some other clubs are too busy chasing "big names" for big money.
In any case, Alderweireld was hardly an "unknown quantity" at S'hampton, nor especially was Son from the Bundesliga, where he'd scored 41 goals in 2 seasons.
Anyhow, I'm off. If it pleases you to think that Spurs are perhaps just "lucky" when it comes to signing players, then so be it.
But Son, I don't get the hype surrounding him. The guy runs around a lot, granted, but to what end? He has little to no impact on the game whatsoever. Very average player.

Spurs has its own charm and attraction for young players who want to step up from a smaller club and grow but for most top young players they are just a stepping stone to a bigger team if they're good enough.
Agree with all of that.
It pleases me very much.

I was not even one of those who said that young players don't choose Spurs.Like Ronaldo leaving United you mean?
As for the rest, the goal-posts keep shifting on here. First, it's "no player chooses Spurs ahead of Man. Utd, Barca and the like". Then when that's proven to be false - as with Bale and Sanchez for example - it becomes "ah well, no player in his prime chooses Spurs ahead of such clubs."
Asked what Tottenham need to do to keep him, Kane replied: "I’ve always said: keep progressing, keep getting better, start winning trophies. That’s the aim, as long as the club keep doing that then, yeah I’m happy here.”

So looks like Kane isn't going to stay if Spurs doesn't start winning trophies. Think that's the first time he has ever said something to this effect.
How much time will he give Spurs? A year? Maybe two?
Slightly different scenarios, Ronaldo at the time took a step down, he left 2 time CL finalists (1 time winners) after winning everything there was to win at United (and a Balon d'Or too).Like Ronaldo leaving United you mean?

Laughable how anyone could think of Spurs as not a big club who would struggle to attract players. Since the 50's Spurs have had many of the very best players, including another one that chose Spurs over United ... Paul Gascoigne.
Mate we have had manys a chat and 90% of the time it's informed and debatable but if u have to ask what Son brings to a game you are either a Wum or ilinformed, I don't get it. Son last year got 14 goals from a wing forward, this season he has 7 already again. Thats more than running around a bit. Your statement makes you sound stupid, sorry to say it cause I actually respect a lot of what you say. He has been more or equally productive than any United player in the same role.
There is no hype around him, he's not a world beater but hes a very good player, you clearly make statments to provoke and get a reaction.
That's what he has always said, he is happy as long as we keep progressing. I don't think any Spurs fan would be surprised he wants to win stuff.

I am absolutely 100% almost positive that this is a "come get me plea" for Jose. He will look great in red.

He has now specifically mentioned winning trophies though. Progress is good on the pitch, new stadium etc, but winning trophies is another level.
Has Madrid written all over it, no way we'd go for another top striker after investing 75m into Lukaku.
Definitely. Kane to Real will pick up a lot of pace this year. It's more or less nailed on that Madrid will go for Kane.
A lot hinges on Pochettino. No doubt Real will bid for Kane, but if they sack Zidane (which is beginning to look a real possibility), would they go for Poch? I'm sure Levy will refuse to let them both go, and both possibly would like to see out another season = new stadium. I think Alli and Rose could be sold.
