Harry Kane delivered a goal for the Harry Kane-team, but his mates didn’t. Dele Alli looks like Jermaine Jenas, plays like Jermaine Jenas and is as petulant as Jenas - he is truly not even close to being as good as his former reputation tells us. When he’s scoring goals, it covers all the cracks - but when he’s not he is just very average at most things.

If we beat them next week, they will not catch Man United this season - and that’s after 25 games. They are having a very poor domestic season after beliving they were favorites for the title, their main forum had 60% picking «first» before the season. We will probably draw them though, Mourinho away and so forth. Having Spurs-hater Sanchez in the team will probably scare then and help us immensely, especially as he has fresh legs after some rest.

Who thought we were favorites for the title?

What a stat

Tottenham have made 99 substitutions. That they have garnered just one goal and one assist suggests that this is quite the problem.

Perhaps 'favourites' is a reach...

But a lot of Spurs fans quite clearly thought that the last 2 seasons challenging for the title had become your new norm. Which it quite clearly hasn't.

A lot of Spurs fans thought that you'd be finishing above Utd again this season, whereas after 24 games you're 8 points behind us, and after tomorrow, will likely be 5 points off Top 4.

With your run of Utd, Pool, Arse I reckon you'll come out of that with 4 points (which isn't bad at all), but when you look at Arse's next 3 (swa, Eve, spurs) they could come into their game with you above you - though I think you'll beat them.

But anyway, you've gone from challenging 2 seasons in a row, to a Top 4 scrap. You can understand oppo fans reminding some of the more brash Spuds fans of their pompous attitude over the last few seasons.

Money rules football; we have seen for clubs like Spurs that there is a small window of opportunity to snatch silverware.

I think that their best chance of winning the league was when Leicester won it; because all the money clubs under performed.

We have seen this already with clubs like Monaco and Atletico Madrid; their best players constantly leave because they can't compete financially. It will take a long time for Spurs to get a player on Harry Kane's level from their academy, if you don't take advantage then he will leave and even if you do take advantage he will probably leave anyway because its very difficult for Spurs to challenge for major silverware for his whole career.

I certainly didn't, not after the spending of the clubs around us and also the Wembly factor, I still think we can get top 4, it's well within reach. Oh I wonder who you could mean :)?

Could we have a post that doesn't involve Kane leaving?

He's your best player, and wanted by Madrid. I personally think that he will stay at Spurs until his late twenties and then get a final big contract somewhere else. However, Madrid are a different beast; if they want a player they seem to always get him.

I get that but it's honestly getting tedious. I dunno how it will go, On and I know all about Madrid's tricks and I honestly think he would rip the ass out of La Liga but I don't know how the fans would take to him. On most of the forums I've lurked on, he isn't exactly the fashionable choice.

You guys did, on your main forum - pre-season thread - there was this article the other to show the delusion amongst some sets of fans. The forum you and your Glaston-mate really should be contributing on since you are fans of said club and not this one.

For you to get top 4, someone has to drop out. Who are you thinking that you can catch? Surely not united?

I certainly never said that, can you show where i did?

Could we have a post that doesn't involve Kane leaving?

Could we have more posts that don't involve, Kane, Pochettino, Eriksen, Alli, Alderweireld, Rose, Dier and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all leaving?

These must constitute at least 50-75% of all posts from oppo fans on here about Spurs.

I've voted for you to finish in the top 4 in the poll so i've probably cursed you.
Haven't thought you will for a couple of months now though.

I honestly cant see you catching us ... we played pretty poorly on saturday and came away with 3 points against the 7th best team in the league.
We probably should have beat them 3-0 really too.
We'll drop points against lower placed teams over the season but very few imo.
It would take something pretty special in performances against the rest of the top 6 to bridge the gap and your record isn't great in them matches afaik

I think Dzeko would probably keep Chelsea top 4 fairly comfortably.
They're going through a lean patch but I just cant see them not coming good sooner or later even with no signings though.
Morata cant keep missing the chances hes had in recent weeks for long.

Liverpool ...
They're on a good run but will probably go on a run of draws and losses against relegation fodder at some point.
I think they've got a lot of their big games out of the way and have points on the board though
Which i think will be enough mostly because you and arsenal just look out of sorts this season.

Besides Kane i think all of your players just haven't been as good as previous years.
Eriksen and Alli are the obvious two (though Eriksen was quite good earlier in the season)
Alderweild and Wanyama just by virtue of being injured for a long time.
Other defenders have been a bit shaky at times
Dembele hasn't been great.

Son is ... I thought he was better last season but the team around him has gone backwards so hes probably kept his level overall.
Lloris too i guess.
You just need a lot of players to kick into gear more or less immediately basically.
I dont think theres going to be many dropped points this season and I cant see you getting enough wins against the rest of the top 6 to catch anyone basically.

Arsenal cant get much worse really and they're only 3 points behind you.

Kane can easily stay at Spurs 2 more years and still be what 26-27 when looking for his next club/contract?

Yes, I think Kane will want to see how Spurs do back at their normal stadium. If things don't work out he'll go.

What's happened to alli? I genuinely thought he was going to be world class, but this season looks to be disappointing for him? Did he lack the fire after the Madrid games?

Can't you take it as a compliment? You can see now that there is a huge drop in people that wants to take your manager away, and that is not necessarily a good thing.

To be fair, I find spurs more bearable when our own fanbase do not think your manager is the second coming of Christ.

Southampton should've won last night. Spurs were terrible, don't understand why he kept on Sissoko for so long in the match, he was doing nothing.

Alli is out of form and I know it's bit of a cliché but he never tries to hide, always keeps on looking for the ball and tries to make something happen. Doesn't deserve to start for England right now.

Spuds 'good' spell of the last 4 seasons was really just a period of United dropping pace, Chelsea doing the same last season, Arse rebuilding and was also the time when Foxes managed to win the fecking PL...

Whatever you put it down to, it has come to an end now and they need, as a club, to start facing reality again.

They won nothing in that time, and with the money that Kane could bring in for them this Summer (250m), they need to start thinking about how they could reinvest that.

The reality is, getting 250m to reinvest is better for them as a club than vainly clinging onto Kane for another season.
Yes nothing to do with us not having a proper home ground this season and dropping points that we wouldn't have done at the Lane last season. The arrogance from the fans of the so called 'big four' eh.

Chances are we we will beat you again when we play you at Wembley, been about 5 years since you beat us away from Old Trafford and I think it will be a close game when we play next.

They didn't get De Gea though

Excuse me... but what will be the difference between Wembley and your new stadium next year!? It will still feel like an away ground for a few years, Wembley too have your logo on the outside and the grass is just as green and nice.

You are really asking that?

Tottenham could easily have lost so they should count their chickens that they drew. Tricky fixtures coming up for them with Man Utd & Arsenal @Home and Liverpool away.

Poor, poor performance and result yesterday. That was really a must win.

Tbf I agree with this - it will take a season or two for the new stadium to become our home. Though I'd expect the atmosphere to be a lot better than Wembley which will help.

Don't think it's time for knee jerk reactions regarding Spurs. This was always going to be a slightly difficult season what with our home games playing at Wembley (a place where we were terrible last season) so if you look at our season, in the race for top 4 and topping a CL group including Real Madrid and Dortmund then you'd probably say that we are doing alright.

The timing of leaving WHL was incredibly Spursy though, another season there and I think we may well have won something.

You were saying about arrogance?

I do take it as a compliment. But it still gets tedious and repetitive when so many posts engage in this type of prediction/wishful thinking. There are many other things about Spurs that could be discussed.
