They'll play some good football again, be in top 4 and won't win a thing.
Will play a weaken side in CL not to hamper their league form.

Is a shame for Spurs that Walker appears to be staying. They'd have gotten far more in terms of a transfer fee than his contribution and would have been able to utilise that for the benefit of the squad.
I've never seen a squad improve over a few season period without key signings being made to keep competition aggressive and to keep players from getting complacent. Maybe the lack of silverware will keep the hunger alive, but as we've seen with City, United, Arsenal & Chelsea in recent years... If you aren't moving forwards you're going backwards.
Likewise the pressure on their best players is going to be insane; for them to even tread water they're going to need another impeccable season from Alli & Kane (47 PL goals will be hard to replicate) who let's not forget are young and therefore are more vulnerable to dips in form. Likewise Son, Erikson & their defenders matching their best seasons ever.
With the Wembley move as well I'd say CL qualification alone would be a great season for them and if he achieved it Pochettino would be the real deal, trophy or otherwise.
To much is being made of this Wembley business. It's just another stadium like any other, really don't think it will have any impact on their aspirations for the season, apart from a some minor teething pains early in the season
A trophy is needed for the appeasement of both fans and players of the club. CL alone would be considered a backward step after the progress they have made in recent years.

'They always get off to a slow start" seems to be this new "they always run out of steam at the end of the season" which the 6-1 and 7-1 firmly put to rest.
I had a little debate with Sours fans on this forum a few weeks ago and they confirmed to me that they are aiming to win the league and trophies not just top 4 or challenging the league. They also consider not winning trophy as failure.
So should change the vote title to ''will Spurs finally win a trophy in the upcoming season''.
Are you expecting to start strong this coming season?
I may be in the minority, but I don't think Walker will go to City. We'll see what happens though.
Should have been a fairly easy deal to complete really which suggests either City don't want to meet Tottenhams Valuation, or Walkers asking too much pay, or the entire story is bullshit.
I'm leaning on option 1 with a hint of option 3.
According to Squawka, no Premier League defender recorded more assists in 2016/17 than Kieran Trippier (5). And he only played 566 minutes.
You are officially the king on selective stats, Glaston.
If Trippier performs to a standard even remotely close to his predesessor I'd be shocked.
I'm not aware of many Spurs fans demanding a trophy. Every one I know is enjoying being a fan again, slightly apprehensive of the immediate future and really looking forward to the new stadium.
Why is it a selective stat? Isn't it just a stat?
You are clearly attempting to soften the blow of losing a Kyle Walker (fecking City!) by scouring the interent in search of a highly favourable stat that shows Kieran Trippier to be a more than worthy replacement. Not entirely sure if it's yourself or the rest of us you are trying to convince but either way it's a stretch.
In truth, any statistic you use to form a judgement on a player who has a amassed a grand total of 566 minutes of football will be as thin as Spurs' trophy cabinet, lad.
I'm to off to watch The Usual Suspects now, partly due to the post above me but mostly because it's fecking brilliant.
We haven't yet sold Walker to City and might not do so. But if we do then we'll get a huge sum of money for a RB and Trippier would be a worthy replacement IMO. He has different attributes to Walker - less pace for example, but much better at putting in crosses for the like of Kane to bury.
I can't understand Pochettino using Trippier in preference to Walker (unless it was because he knew he would be off and wanted to give Trippier minutes). Regardless of how good his crossing is the primary function of a FB is to defend, and Trippier isn't even close to Walker in that regard. Of course there's Walker's pace too a valuable asset in both defence and attack, coach crossing into him, don't replace a speedster with someone who looks like they're stuck in treacle. Though for the rest of us it's a move I'm happy with![]()

Think the delay is due to Alves's move. He's their first choice.I may be in the minority, but I don't think Walker will go to City. We'll see what happens though.
Trippier is a superb crosser and is generally much better than Walker in the final third of the pitch - yes his defending and his speed are both inferior to Walker. If we do sell Walker (I think we will) then I'd expect us to buy another RB with pace to rotate with Trippier for around £20 million or so which should leave us £30 million to spend on other areas. Still hoping if he goes he moves to a club outside of England - rumours are that Barcelona and Bayern have shown an interest in him (as hard as that is to believe!)
Surely City won't sign Walker and Alves? I know it's ideal having two right-backs but that would be taking the biscuit.
There's no way either moves to be anything but a guaranteed starter.Surely City won't sign Walker and Alves? I know it's ideal having two right-backs but that would be taking the biscuit.
There's no way either club pay what it takes to get Walker anyways so it's a moot point but lahm has retired.Sincerely doubt there is anything in these rumours mate. Roberto has made that rightback position his own since the conversion from midfield, in much the same way as Valencia has done for United. Most United fans despise Barca but I'm kind of partial to them in truth, I never tire of watching them play.
Isn't Lahm still performing well for Bayern? I guess Walker could be seen as a future replacement.
Still I don't like the idea of losing our best English talents abroad.

There's no way they spend crazy bucks on a RB.Had no idea.
Bayern could buy Walker if the situation called for it, not sure about Barca to be fair.
