I hope the pundits are clear during the halftime shows...SPURS have PARKED THE BUS at Wembley...beautiful football from Dortmund...Pulisic vs Aurier, very interesting matchup

If United set up like that for a home CL match against Dortmund in the group stage they'd get crushed for being pragmatic.

That said Spurs very fortunate to be up, but truly fantastic finished from Son and especially Kane. Dortmund should be level and are getting a lot of joy down Spurs' right.

Spurs very lucky so far. Dortmund are quite a lot of their regulars and yet still look much better team, the assistant refs were shocking.

I'm content with how Spurs are progressing and what we achieved last season. If you're happy with United's progression, then great ... we're both happy.

But - oh dear! - some United fans are NOT happy at hearing that Dier will NOT be playing for them next season. They WANT WANT WANT, and stamp their feet and get all huffy because DADDY is not giving them what they WANT WANT WANT.

But DADDY can't give them what they WANT WANT WANT because - and contrary to what they've led to believe - DADDY has to deal with other daddies, some of whom couldn't give a stuffed parrot for what DADDY'S little children WANT WANT WANT.

So DADDY'S little children will have to wait until Xmas for their next batch of shiny new toys, even tho' they got tired of the last lot before the end of January had arrived and soon WANTED WANTED WANTED more.
I think it works both ways, there are a good few wummer on here.
You sure?

Credits where it's due. Yes, they were lucky with some refereeing decisions but they handled Dortmund well. Important home win.

The cumulative gap is ~510m in transfers and ~450m in wages. Spurs have made a net profit on transfers since Ferguson retired and Pochettino should be recognised for enhancing their football while still allowing Levy to balance the transfer book.

Interesting. I'd have liked to see a full breakdown but I must have glossed over the part that he threw wages in with transfer fees.

The one thing I don't get is any fan that trumpets net transfer profit. All that really says is "We are celebrating selling our best players".

I could handle Arsenal fans doing it in Wengers early years as at the same time they were making profits in the transfer market they were also winning things.

I see many parallels between those times at Arsenal and Spurs right now. New stadium, very talented and united squad, selling an asset every now and again to balance the books, very flat salary structure.

But at Arsenal the spectre of pay rises came through soon enough. They absolutely hemorrhaged talent and managed to keep bringing in replacements. Vieira wanted to leave for several years, Overmars and Petit walked over money. As did the humble nice guy Ashley Cole. That soon became a critical mass.

Will be interesting to see what happens at Spurs.

Spurs made Dortmund pay for playing a stupidly high line against them. Kane bullied Sokratis without any trouble at all. He's pure class. Arguably the best out and out striker in Europe aside from Lewandowski currently.

If that's some of the best the BL has to offer outside of Bayern, well then I'm not very impressed.

That's not the best Dortmund team by far. With that being said Spurs can look back on a good performance nevertheless because this Dortmund team still had quality players on the pitch. And Spurs themselves were without Alli.

Dortmund were fantastic in the first half but we took control in the second half and we deserved the win in the end.

Second that. Pochettino has done some magic at Spurs, it has to be said. I'm not sure if the other top clubs in England could have dealt with Dortmund so effectively, refereeing or not.

On a side note, I'm going to copy your location, too. :P

Potentially a huge win psychologically for Spurs, that. And, of course, also a vital win if they intend to progress to the knockout stages. Had to beat Dortmund at home to give themselves a chance, realistically.

Aurier decent performance for a guy who hasn't played in the last 6 months.

Aurier needs 2-3 months before making a great impact for the Spurs

Swings and roundabouts, if we are going down that route I could say Harry should have had a hatrick and beaten Dortmund by four or five.
They were also offside during the build up for the first goal. So being pedantic gets you about even.

Huge win for Spurs, now they have 2 very easy home games which should put Wembley factor to bed very early in the season.

Also for CL campaign very important win. Now more pressure on Dortmund as they have Madrid next and end up on 0 points after 2 games whereas Spurs can go to 6 points.

They must follow it up with a draw or a sneaky win away from home at dortmund. A draw vs Madrid would be an ultimate result for them to qualify.

Good win for Spurs.Aurier look solid,we should've signed him.

Impressive performance for the maturity it showed - Spurs got caught out in Europe last season by pressing too hard at times, leaving gaps and getting done on the counter on the big pitch at Wembley. Playing a bit naively, you would say.

This time it was Spurs showing some street smarts - soaking up the pressure and then smashing them on the counter. As Dortmund tired in the second half, Spurs took control of the match and saw the last 30 minutes comfortably. Was a "grown up" European performance, something this team and manager needed to show they were capable of.

We didn't look perfect in that playing style, but I'm hoping we can repeat it and improve upon it against teams like Liverpool and City. Who both have a similar style of suicidal attack with poor defending that we could exploit similarly to this game.

Completely agreed. This is how we need to play, not always expecting to impose our style in Europe (though I want some games where we do that too). It is going to be how we have to play both games against Real imo and I'd like to see it vs Liverpool and Man City too.

Sanchez looks great. The biggest compliment you can give him I think is he's come in straight away, in amongst the best defence in the league and hasn't looked out of place at all. Physically, he is a beast, he mops up so much. Has made 1 or 2 strange decisions in each match so far but he's still so young. Massive potential.

Aurier really grew into the game and coped very well imo. Defended well despite being outnumbered and targeted and even managed to do some good attacking play. Good performance considering he hasn't played much in months and has only just joined the club. Will be interested to see how much he can contribute in an attacking sense when he isn't facing teams as attacking as Dortmund.

Rose has a real battle to get back into the team once he's fit again. Davies has gone up another level this season and truth be told, played 2/3 of last season and 1/2 of the season before so Rose hasn't been as big of a loss as I'd expected. Poch has a certain skill with fullbacks.

Need to win against Apoel and then we're looking good.

Wembley thing may be a thing then.

I did say 1 win wouldn't change it

Spurs will be relying on their away form to reach top 4 this season and their away form to the top 6 is shite

They're fecked

They were fortunate during the week and today they were just as average. As good as they've been last couple of seasons, I don't fear them being a top four rival what so ever. The Wembley thing is becoming real whether Tottenham fans admit it or not.
