Well, at least two of the previous exciting ones (2014–2015) haven't quite worked out for us, so it might not be such a bad thing after all. Perhaps a change in this matter could be exactly what we need. The transfer window is long from being closed though.

Time will tell, I think the squad is/will be good enough and it sounds as Mourinho rates the majority of the squad too. There will probably be one or two more signings, like he said himself.

I'm more concerned with our strategy in attack. When we don't set up for counter-attacking, what's the idea?

We had no effective distinct plans last season, apart from the emergency big-boys-in-the-box some times when we needed a goal. A method I actually like, but there should be more alternatives going forward so that we don't even need to use that one too much either.

On reading it, I must say it makes sense to me. Cashing in on Sanchez now will hurt their CL prospects. They won't be able to get a good enough replacement without paying double the amount they sell Sanchez for.

So Arsenal's plan is to keep him this year and ensure they return to the CL. Yes, they'll lose Sanchez for free, but they'll have the CL money and won't need to overpay to attract quality players (something we'd been forced to do).

There's just one issue here, Arsenal won't get top four next year.

They wont overpay either way. They will just buy some unknown 17 year old from the Championship while the top clubs sign someone big only for Wenger to come out two days later saying how they almost signed that big name player who moved.

Agree, but in that case they'd just sell Sanchez and buy their typical profile of player. The fact that they are willing to run down his contract shows ambition, if only for top four.

He doesn't want to move, he wants lots of money, and he'll get it because if PSG offer enough he'll probably leave if Barca don't match it, PSG probably know this, and they also know it'll wind Barca up having to pay more.

Basically PSG are making Barca players ask for payrises because that what they could get at PSG which is their intention after Barca's public pursuit of Veratti.

Not guaranteed though, they're banking on him actually wanting to play to the best of his ability for them while all he wants to do is leave. They could at least get someone with the money for him instead of take such a huge risk.

They failed last season with Sanchez to qualify. There are no guarantees they'll do so again even with him in the team. Massive risk.

Neymar makes more money from sponsorship deals than he does from his Barcelona contract (and he's not on a low wage either...). It's barely a wind up, and it's naive to think that even PSG would be stupid enough for something like that.

Either they already have an understanding with Neymar, and they're willing to fork out the fee, or this is bs.

Reaching the EL final nets you about the same amount as being eliminated in the round of 16 in the CL. They'd need to do significantly better in the CL than that to justify not selling Sanchez on financial grounds.

I somewhat doubt that Real Madrid would've lowered the fee for Di Maria if we'd been in the Champions League..If we've overpaid, it's probably in terms of wages.

At an accounting level united can definitely afford it. Problem is you need €222M cash, right now, to sign neymar. PSG don't have a problem there because the owner can front the money(as a sort of interest-free loan). United on the other hand would need loans from sources outside the club

And that's the crux of the matter. They CAN'T replace him. At least not for the money other clubs are willing to pay. They identified Lemar as a potential replacement -well monaco won't even listen to offers below £70M.
 
I wonder if there's an issue with owners of PSG and Barcelona sponsors.
