UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

How will this eventually be dealt with if it keeps escalating further and further? We are seeing some discontent and similar behavior in Birmingham now, at what point should police get involved, if you don't think they should have done earlier on?

Seriously, the PM must speak, and return to London.

Former Police Borough Commander: The morale among constables sergeants and inspectors for the most part is that they feel unsupported by the senior leadership.

On this level? Almost city wide in London?
These are sparse small events, thousands of men maurauding the streets looking for a fight looked ten times worse.

Why is there someone opening a car door than slamming it shut? Really? IS that really how people get their kicks?

I was thinking the same thing. It's definitely a cause for concern. It's all happening now in South East London

Kinky you should sit outside, sit down, and play music. Music brings strength through joy, music binds communities together.

The whole of the UK is relying on you Kinky. Don't let your fellow men down.

Does anybody actually believe it's got anything to do with a fecking stop and search?

One giant come by yah at Kinks everyone.

Finally mentioning Birmingham on the news.

According to a friend who had a friend there (I know), a lad was asked politely to stop and adhere to a search, he refused, and a load of guys with him started to get aggressive with the police, which then escalated. No idea if there's truth in that or not.

BBC now reporting that the rioting has spread to Birmingham.

Now in Ilford, I'll be honest and say I was definitely worried and just basically ran home from the station as the shops were shutting around me.

Bunch of little shits, police should be allowed to twat them.

Leeds and Coventry also in the same situation as Birmingham at the moment.

Fort Boyard, can you not see this is completely out of control, that 25% of all police officers in the Country are now in London yet it is getting worse and worse and worse?

Something has to be done before this becomes endemic, because if it does, then even the most severe tactics won't work. At the rate we're going, it would seem we are trying to badly contain the situation until they tire themselves out, get bored, and go home.

Do you advocate any punishment?

Yes criminal sentencing for those who cause criminal damage. More police to solves the matter.

I just don't buy into the opinion that there aren't social causes for these incidents, and I want to see them addressed at the root cause.

Is that 25% figure true?

What do you mean at what point should Police get involved?

Ilford, Barking and Romford were all shutting down earlier today due to police advice.

I didn't even realised till I got off the train. As I got out the station I saw the town centre was filled with rioters and police. I sneaked past the lot of them and ended up going to Ilford Lane, nearby where I lived. Not all the shops had closed but I started to see people running as the rioters coming down that street. I followed suit pronto and got home safe enough. But definitely not without panic.

When the Snowdome in Milton Keynes is targeted, it will signal Armageddon.

I agree. Though sentencing is no longer a deterrent, in fact a stretch at her majesty's will probably look like fun to some of these cretins.

I'm glad you got home safe! I'm not too far away, though luckily I doubt it'll kick off where I am.

That its kids loot that Off Licence.
